This being the first time visiting an Indian restaurant, the waitstaff made it very easy to explore the menu to find delicious food. Also, what an amazing wine list, definitely topnotch. Everything was wonderful and we will definitely be returning.
This is the best Indian restaurant in Richmond.
Lehja is our "go to" spot for just about any reason. Delectable Indian food, excellent wine list with expert guidance from Sunny, experienced servers and a lovely ambiance.
Chef Sunny went above and beyond to give us one of the best culinary experiences I’ve ever had. He personally came to our table to say hello and make suggestions. He prepared a dish for me that is no longer on the menu. I cannot wait to see what he prepares next time. I drove 2 hours round trip and cannot wait to go back. The food was beyond amazing and the staff made us feel so special.
Best Indian food I have ever had! Sunny (chef/owner) gave us amazing recommendations table-side that balanced out the overall dining experience, giving us a little taste of everything. Thanks Sunny!
PS - the sea bass is out of this world!
We have eaten twice here - absolutely delicious! Definitely try it!
It was great
Possibly the worst service I’ve ever experienced in a restaurant, and I’ve been to many, many restaurants. The service was SO bad that i would never recommend your establishment to anyone, despite the food being fine. Our server came to our table ten minutes in, didn’t say hello, asked if we needed some time, we said yes a few minutes to look at the wine list, and he didn’t come back for another ten minutes. He brought our wine a while later, asked if it was the right one, poured it without letting us taste it, and then left our white wine on the table with no means of chilling it (and it needed to be a lot colder) He came back 20 minutes later to take our order, I asked about the difference between the three lentil dishes listed and he said, while looking at the front door, “oh it’s a mix” but didn’t tell me what was actually happening in the dish. I noted the Beard Nominee placard by the front door, so my expectations immediately increased. I was not remotely impressed. Please train your servers to have general people skills, because the lack thereof reflects VERY poorly on your restaurant. The food was fine, but not good enough to make up for the lack of service, which completely ruined the experience.
PS - we had a reservation and were asked to wait (which is fine) and people who came in well after us, who knew the host, got seated at a nicer table well before us. Also very annoying.
We love going there.
Very disappointing. We have enjoyed past meals here; however, this meal was slow and stressful. It was meant to be a lovely Valentines dinner for our group. Instead we got very cold food, undercooked scallops, and extremely spotty service. Our waiter completely disappeared after taking our order. Nobody checked on us at all to see if our meals were satisfactory once they arrived . We were never offered dessert or coffee. We had to go find the manager to give us our check, so that we could pay, after requesting a check several times from passing employees. The manager did not appear to be remotely concerned about the poor experience that we all had. Not at all as expected.
Service was a little slow, and seating by roll-up doors was very cold. But: food was excellent - Really - and the staff’s recommendations for appetizers were perfect.
Although our first drink was not made to our liking, our AMAZING waiter immediately recognized it & took it back while supplying us with an amazing drink. Dinner was on POINT!
Imagine a good friend or family member making a special meal for you because of some special occasion. Not some canned pasta thrown on a plate but each part of the meal painstakingly planned and prepared. Nothing slapped together. Everything worked out ahead of time. Patiently seasoned, thoughtfully assembled, and served with pride revealing the sincere desire to please your palette. This... is what we enjoyed this evening by requesting the chef‘s tasting menu. Be sure you notify them ahead of time because this is a custom event. The wines paired with each course worked perfectly. Many of the items were done specially, not appearing on the menu. We looked forward with anticipation to each course.
Owner checked on us regularly to answer our questions, make recommendations and help us choose spice level of food. Wine list impressive and accessible. Large number of wines by the glass. Menu is broad. Appetizers, garlic naan, and entries were amazing. This restaurant team cares for quality of their food and the experience of their diners. Wonderfull.
Lehja is our favorite restaurant for Indian food. The meals never disappoint and the wait staff is friendly and efficient.
The modern design is very nice. Ambiance is very inviting and relaxing . You are not rushed and enjoy your meal. Service was impeccable , very attentive . But more importantly the food was delicious . We shared multiple appetizers and entrees . Everything we selected was delicious . In addition their wine list is full of great selections for every budget and it’s filled with many varieties of wines.
Outstanding as always. If you like it a bit more quiet, sit on the patio. Food was and is always amazing. Service was great. Can’t say enough good things.
Our waiter Zeke was so helpful in explaining Indian food to our table. And Sonny stopped by for a bit to make us feel welcome in his home/restaurant.
Food and service were,as always amazing. The ambience in the new build out is a little lacking, too bright.
I have been three times and my third time was at the bar. Michael gave EXCELLENT service and the food is fantastic!
The wait staff was attentive and had fun with us, letting us sample a number of wines, helping pair them with our food order. The food is delicious with portion sizes that are normal.
Always the best! Wonderful food service!!
Excellent food and outstanding service.
Kitchen took over an hour to prepare our food. Nothing was given to compensate for wait
Sonny runs an excellent Indian restaurant. Best in the West. (Short Pump).
We all got something different and shared. Everything was excellent!
Seated at 6:30pm and order was taken. Received appetizer right away but food never came. When another table seated after us received their food for four. We were told our food was coming up and something got mixed up in kitchen by the manger. A few minutes later our waiter said the kitchen was behind. Food came almost 2 hours after order was taken. We decided to get it to go and go home. Unhappy with the service and lack of making it right.
Love this place! Amazing food! Amazing chef !

Another wonderful experience. I highly recommend this restaurant. The food and cocktails were excellent. It is a wonderful place for a special occasion or just to stop in for lunch while shopping.
Awesome food along with amazing service. Great place. Will return soon!!
Service was off. This was probably due to multiple wait staff tending us and apparently not communicating with each other. The manager tried to make up for it and was very attentive. It usually isn't that spotty. Food was very good with unique presentations.
Authentic Indian food representing 20 different Indian states. Also, an amazing wine list. Save room for dessert.
Food was great. Service was great. Selection was great. If you like Indian cuisine, you need to try it.
Another great meal at our favorite Indian restaurant. We had the spinach chaat. Very light a crispy. Full of flavor. Chicken tikka masala was creamy and spiced perfectly. I had the goat curry. The meat was falling off the bone tender. Best in town!
Food was great. Service was great, beer was great
Fair Indian food. Overall good service. Enjoyed the company most.
