Lechon is a South American dining experience that seamlessly combines the fiery cooking of Argentina, Chile and Patagonia, along with creative inspiration of the chef. Enjoy perfectly charred 28-day dry-aged ribeye, grilled octopus with chorizo, housemade piquillo pepper and pork empanadas, slow roasted lechon, refreshing ceviches and smoked bone marrow.

Executive Chef Jaco Smith consistently pushes the boundaries on traditional Latin fare by incorporating wood-fired flavors into his cuisine while boasting a view of the Willamette River that few Portland restaurants can offer. Smith comes from a large family of cattle, sheep and grain farmers. He started cooking at a young age in his mother’s kitchen. His favorite childhood memories include the tastes of dulce de leche, flan and grilled breads, reminiscent of South American flavors and commonly found on South African kitchen tables.

    This was our first visit to LeChon. We had a gift card to celebrate our 30th Anniversary. We’d been told that the food and service were really wonderful and we’re not disappointed! The food is delicious!! We loved the family style serving and that our server told us just to order a couple things to start and then checked back often to get other dishes started for us. The meal flowed really smoothly, the wait staff were all courteous and friendly and again, the food was amazing!!!! We’ll definitely be going again!

    I am from NYC - tested like mediocre Mexican food to me. The grilled octopus was more chorizo than octopus. But it was fun and the place is popular and lively.

    Wife, son and me; experienced diners. Cocktails very good; brisket empanadas had a good crust but the meat was so homogenized that it had the texture of paste and insufficient spicing; The Baocitos (similar to humboa) had the best outter shell I have ever experienced - sufficiently firm but not rubbery like so many bao offerings from others. The ahi cervicie was arguably the best dish; tender with a nice tangy sauce - very good indeed. The Foraged Mushrooms were covered by a slice of toast-like material with a poached egg on top. This smothered the flavor of what we felt was overcooked mushrooms. The scallops were good, though cooked with too much butter. Hard to identify them as sea food. And there were not enough on this plate for what one paid. One each for $36. Would expect easily two or maybe even 3 each at that price. The farmers green salad was fine though nothing to write home about. Fresh and tossed with a champagne vinegarette. The lamb chops were the best or second best dish, slightly overcooked but very flavorful. But, again, $53 for one at best average size chop per person? Son's chocolate tart was wonderful. Wife's coconut gelato, offered off menu as an accommodation to her tastes, did not seem fresh. My lemon curd cheesecake was disappointing; too dense too heavy and not enough bite of the Meyer Lemon flavor. We do miss L'Auberge Meyer Lemon cheesecake. That was something to remember! The service was very good and there was clear effort to be creative. One might expect a fail or two out of seven attempts given that effort. But the compensation for that should be some "wow" from other dishes. We did not find much to "wow" about. To pricey for too little overall dining pleasure.

    Fabulous food. My server was excellent and every recommendation was spot on. It's a favorite when I visit Portland. Prices for food quality are appropriate but seem high for the amount of food. Overall a winner. 👍🏻

    I took my best friend here to celebrate her birthday and omg!!! The food was incredible, we ordered 4 dinner plates and each was bursting with flavors we’ve never had before. It was a bit on the pricey side but worth every penny. I recommend coming here because you will not be disappointed 😁

    Our first tapas dish was brought out so fast, we thought it must be for another table! We hadn't even received our drinks yet. Food and service were fantastic. Ambience - outside seating is just on the front sidewalk in front of the restaurant. And while McCall Park is lovely, passerbys talking loudly on their cell phones and groups gathering as their coming / going to the restaurant isn't ideal.

    The food was incredible, the service was respectable, the only problem is that they held my credit card for too long, I had to ask for it to be returned, and whoever served me gave me another receipt but without returning my card!!! She realized the mistake and it took her a few minutes to return my card and give me the receipt. It was strange and uncomfortable that they forgot to give me my card after having sent me the receipt.

    Birthday dinner, we shared plates and everything was so good. Server was good, but the food was amazing. Couldn't say one bad thing about the whole dinner. Thanks LeChon for making our night!!!!! Ceviche, mushrooms on brioche, octopus, and grilled Peruvian chicken were all 10/10. We will be back next time we visit Portland.

    The sidewalk outdoor dining leaves a bit to be desired, but this is an amazing restaurant. Great food, great drinks. Great service; and by far the best happy hour menu I’ve seen in the Portland area. Piquillo pepper empanadas……amazing. Fried olives and gaucho bread…..perfect. The beef empanadas were a bit underwhelming; but the Choripan sandwich more than made up for them. Thanks for being in Portland!!!

    La Lechon was definitely our favourite restaurant in Portland in regards to food. Our reservation was for outside, thinking it would be waterfront of some sort. Instead, we got seated somewhere that it felt we were dining in a dark smelly, parking lot. We were not given any other option. The tasting menu was delicious… worth the money.

    Our first time at Lechon, but it won't be our last! The menu (and the staff!) are very accommodating...and by that I mean that they can happily accommodate all the disparate needs of a large group. So you'll be able to find something delicious whether you're a carnivore or a vegetarian. And the mocktails were exceptional!

    We celebrated our friend’s retirement last night and had a wonderful time there. Friendly wait staff and food was delicious as always. I have been going to LeChon for awhile (pre-Covid) and do prefer the pork belly baocitas over the short-rib version. Overall, a memorable dining experience.

    Very good setting. Quiet but not overly quiet. Food was very good but the custom Old Fashion drink options was outstanding. Recommended and very walk friendly from our hotel in downtown Portland.

    Great dining experience. Laid back atmosphere. Hailey took amazing care of us; never rushed us and gave us her honest feedback. We had tapas, chicken bites, farmers salad & beef tartare, which were all wonderful.

    Food and service was good, I’m not sure if my server either didn’t know or OpenTable didn’t have it in their system but we went out to celebrate a birthday and wasn’t acknowledged at all even though was put into the reservation. Just would’ve been nice so as a warning maybe have somebody tell your waiter that you are celebrating a birthday

    We had the shrimp ceviche and thought it was in sauce that was much too heavy. Ceviche should be fresh tasting with the shrimp in a light refreshing citrus juice. Yours felt like it had been cooked in the cream sauce, much to heavy and just wrong.
