Lechon is a South American dining experience that seamlessly combines the fiery cooking of Argentina, Chile and Patagonia, along with creative inspiration of the chef. Enjoy perfectly charred 28-day dry-aged ribeye, grilled octopus with chorizo, housemade piquillo pepper and pork empanadas, slow roasted lechon, refreshing ceviches and smoked bone marrow.

Executive Chef Jaco Smith consistently pushes the boundaries on traditional Latin fare by incorporating wood-fired flavors into his cuisine while boasting a view of the Willamette River that few Portland restaurants can offer. Smith comes from a large family of cattle, sheep and grain farmers. He started cooking at a young age in his mother’s kitchen. His favorite childhood memories include the tastes of dulce de leche, flan and grilled breads, reminiscent of South American flavors and commonly found on South African kitchen tables.

The food was excellent, the service was fantastic, the cocktails were delicious. The only thing I could even think to complain about is the bathrooms were too dark.

This was the best experience. The staff was friendly, the service was great, and the food was amazing as always. I would recommend LeChon to anyone for a special occasion, or just a mid week treat!

I’ve heard great things about this place so with family in town I thought checking out a new place would be really fun. Once we were seated the server didn’t greet us until maybe 10 minutes later. He promptly took our drink order and clarified any questions. Food menu was good, aside from the confusing bits of Asian fusion items. Shrimp ceviche was great, along with the octopus and empanadas. The calamari could’ve been mistaken for panda express orange chicken and the flank steak had undercooked/tough veggies mixed in with it. For the price, I wouldn’t come back for a full dinner, maybe a cocktail and the ceviche.

Family vacation visiting relatives. They did a fabulous job to accommodate our party of 9 outside on the patio as we also brought our dog. The food was good, but nothing really wowed us or stood out. For the price, this left a lot to be desired with the tapas plates. Had the wild boar sausage main and it was somewhat disappointing too. The bacon duck breast and grilled octopus were delicious, the bone marrow was overdone but the flatbread and sauce was tasty! Calamari was ok.

LeChon offers patrons a wonderful setting for enjoying great food and company. Social distancing is followed. Excellent service, and each dish was better than the last. From the Ceviche to the bone marrow, we travel from the east coast and never fail to visit.

LOVE LeChon. Two dishes that are not to be missed: the shrimp ceviche and pork anticucho, both layered in deep, perfectly balanced, soul-satisfying flavors. I order them every single time I go. I also like to try at least one new thing every time. This time, it was the cornmeal crusted olives. Wow. Paired with an Argentinian Malbec, they were fantastic. The brisket empanadas and the foraged mushrooms are winners, too - but honestly, with this chef and menu, you can't go wrong, no matter what you order.

Had such an amazing first night out alone since becoming parents 3 months ago! We showed up for our reservation & everything was clean and social distancing was being encouraged. We sat right in front of the kitchen area so there was a potential to be noisey, but it was actually delightful! We got to see and smell everything coming out to the other tables. Highly recommend everything we ordered - Flank steak, pistachio pork chop, Peruvian fried chicken & calamari.

We choose the chefs tasting menu, and were really happy with all the courses. It was the perfect amount of food to satisfy without being stuffed. The weather was nice, so we made our reservation for outdoor seating. Overall a really nice experience.

First time experiencing this gem, it was a wonderful dining experience. Shared some excellent tapas- the octopus, empanadas, and spiced tuna tiradito. Service, the patio, attention to details to each dish when served, and excellent suggestions to the drink menu. Thank you and will be back!

Exceptional, can’t wait to go back. First, we sat outside. So the “noise level” may be different inside but it was comfortable outside. The outside seating is right on Naito, so I was concerned traffic would be too loud. Not at all. It’s the only option in that area with outdoor seating with a view to the river and it was very nice.

The food was excellent, very solid wine selection with a variety of type and price ranges. Tapas came out hot and timely.

As is (sadly) common in Portland, a homeless person came through the seating area and tried to engage some patrons. The host came out immediately and the way he handled it would be enough for me to go back again. He kindly asked the man to walk with him to the outside of the seating area, listened to what the man needed, and a couple minutes later came out with some water to give him (the man had sat down on the sidewalk). In other words, he treated him as the human being that he is.

The chef delivered one of our selections and we struck up a conversation with him. He was personal and engaging. We look forward to supporting him and his team again with future business based on our overall experience.
