L'histoire du Yaca a commencé en 1964 à Courchevel, un petit village de campagne dans les Alpes françaises. Danièle et Gérard Bourderau ont trouvé l'idée amusante d'ouvrir un petit restaurant. À l’annonce de leur projet, tous leurs amis ont dit aux restaurateurs plein d'espoir que personne ne conduirait jamais 8 kilomètres sur une route sinueuse glacée pour souper. Danièle et Gérard hésitèrent pendant 3 mois, puis ont décidé : « yaca le faire », une contraction de l'expression française « il n’y a qu’à le faire », qui signifie « faisons-le ». Par plaisanterie, ils ont appelé le restaurant Le Yaca. Mais le nom est devenu populaire avec les clients, qui ont été amusé par le jeu de mots et ont contribué à la tradition du restaurant en inventant des « Yaca-ismes » eux-même : « yaca y aller » (allons-y). Danièle est venue aux États-Unis et a ouvert Le Yaca à Williamsburg. Daniel Abid a acheté le restaurant en 2001. Daniel a travaillé et a été formé dans des lieux prestigieux comme Le Pré Catelan et Lenôtre à Paris, à L'Amandier, chez Roger Vergé et pour couronner le tout chez Alain Ducasse.

    Always a wonderful experience! The food, service and atmosphere is top notch. Only thing is I wish the tables for two were larger, just feels a bit cramped. We will be back!

    I've been coming to this restaurant since they were opened at the Kingsmill shops and still my most favorite, elegant and simply beautiful ingredients. Some affordable options are available and considering the level of excellence it's all worth it.

    We have always looked forward to our special dinners at Le Yaca whenever we travel to Williamsburg. The entrees last evening were superbly prepared, our waiter excellent, but we departed extremely unhappy with our unfortunate experience with the Man handling the front desk reservations. Here’s what transpired: we had finished our entrees and were awaiting the arrival of the desserts that we had ordered when this individual came to our table and asked us to move to another table so that he could put our table together with another table for another party! We did not want to make a scene, so we hesitatingly moved but found this to be so unacceptable, unprofessional, ignorant, and wrong. He then showed up with 2 glasses of champagne which we promptly rejected out of hand and proceeded to tell him quietly but directly how wrong, unprofessional, and insulting this was to my wife and me. He was told as well that he could have just waited a few more minutes until we finished our desserts (that were in the process of being prepared) and the party he wanted to seat could have stayed in the lobby/bar area until we departed. He didn’t disagree! This effectively ruined an otherwise wonderful dinner experience for us and was extremely disappointing. For a fine dining restaurant with a long-standing excellent reputation, Le Yaca didn’t meet their usual excellence. While he took a mere 30% off the bill for his failure, this didn’t make up for a wrecked evening.

    A wonderful dining experience This restaurant came highly recommended from friends that used to live in Williamsburg. Everything they said was right

    We have been many times and tried nearly everything on the Brunch menu. I tell people brunch is a $100 per person value for $50 … amazing quality and attention to detail. Reason for this review is a shout out to our waiter Omer (and management) for being so careful with allergies and offering lovely service. We appreciate you!
