Le Yaca began in a tiny, country village(Courchevel)in the French Alps in 1964.Daniele Bourderau & Gerard decided that it would be fun to open a small restaurant. When friends learned of their plans they told the hopeful restaurateurs that they were crazy to think that people would drive 8 kilometers on a winding, icy road for dinner.Daniele and Gerard hesitated for 3 months and then decided: “yaca le faire,” a contraction of the French phrase “ il n’y a qu’a le faire” which basically means “let’s do it.” They called the restaurant Le Yaca as a gag. But the name caught on with customers, who were amused by the pun and contributed to the restaurant’s lore by inventing “yaca-isms ” of their own: yaca y aller (let’s go). Daniele came to the United States & opened Le Yaca in Williamsburg.Daniel Abid bought le Yaca in 2001. Daniel worked and trained in such prestigious places as “Le Pre Catelan” and “Lenotre” in Paris; “L’Amandier” and “Roger Verge" and to top it all off “Alain Ducasse.”

The food was amazing, the staff were great. Our waiter Ming was a great guy, the gave us a complimentary glass of champagne to celebrate us being on our honeymoon. Ming was very knowledgeable about everything my husband and I asked about, including the wine. My husband and I enjoyed ourselves and will surely return.

Williamsburg resident for 10 years; dined here and the original location many times (average 6 per year). The food has always been outstanding and this visit did not disappoint. Perfection. Service is always pleasant and professional w/o the obsequious overtones associated with a traditional French restaurant. The bread server had "show-stopping BO". Seriously. Thank God he just served the bread and disappeared. Our server was polite, cheerful, informative and for the most part invisible - perfect. Of special note is the wine list. In a word, insultingly overpriced. e.g. Rombauer Chardonnay: $132/bottle. This is at least a 400% markup (check Trader Joe's). The food prices for Le Yaca have been reasonable and quite stable for years but the current owner is attempting to increase the margin on the backs of wine drinkers. It was Bastille Day and we normally would have casually shared a bottle for a couple of hours. Nope, a couple of excellent sparkling wines by the glass (@ $12/gl a steal) and we moved on. We'll stick to Couchon and Canary for the Rombauer everyday priced below $70/bottle on their menus. Le Yaca is gouging. Stop it.

Another birthday celebration at LeYaca for lunch. It was a wonderful way to celebrate with good food and service. Three of us had either crab cake or flounder of the day and one calves liver. We all enjoyed our dishes. Of course, the desserts that accompanied them are always a big part of the meal.

This is a tastefully appointed restaurant that is quiet with tables nicely situated to allow some privacy and conversation. The prix fixe menu is a very good value. I had the scallops which were a little bland for my taste, but the French onion soup and desserts were excellent.

We stopped for their Fixed Price lunch menu while visiting Williamsburg which is outstanding value for the quality of food. Service was excellent and the ambiance was elegant. We each had soup for the starter, my wife had the fish of the day, I had steak, and the deserts are all so good it is hard to chose one (I went with the delicious standby of creme brûlée). Whenever we are in Williamsburg we try to eat at least once here and have yet to be disappointed.

Enjoyed eating on the patio. Took a little longer than ideal to be able to order and between courses. Food was all delicious. Asparagus soup and salmon were divine!

Excellent meal. Attentive staff. The three course price fixe menu is a real value.
We spent a week in Alexandria and ate at top rated restaurants, but Le Yaca was superior to all of them.

How disappointing. We have been driving 1-1.5 hr to Williamsburg to dine at Le Yaca for over 25 years to mark special occasions. This was our 49th wedding anniversary. The food didnot disappoint The prixfixe had so many tempting choices, and our choices were superb! The service, however, was lacking. The waitress disappeared for long periods of time (more than 20 min). For example, there were 2 pepper grinders and no salt on our table. It was difficult to catch any server's attention and after doing so, our food was cold by the time we waited an additional 10 min for someone to bring a salt shaker (and then they brought us two, go figure). Even getting the check and paying it were lengthy. We went for a leisurely lunch, but this was ridiculous.
Although the food was beautifully plated, the ambience lacks the charm of the previous location. Located in the center of a shopping center parking lot facing a chain Mexican restaurant is not encouraging and the interior likewise bland and not upscale.

My wife and I enjoyed a wonderful dinner at Le Yaca this evening to celebrate our 40th wedding anniversary. This was our first visit, and we will definitely be returning. The atmosphere is casual elegance, but the dress standard is business casual. So, we enjoyed the relaxing atmosphere of this lovely restaurant. Le Yaca has a great menus. We ordered from the Prix Fixe Menu. The onion soup, salad, lobster-crab, sea bass, soufflé, chocolate torte, French bread and Sancerre wine were served in properly spaced intervals during our 2-hour dinner (5:00 to 7:00 p.m.), eliminating a "rushed" feeling sometimes experienced in other restaurants. Our meal concluded with a complimentary glass of sparkling champagne with a "Happy Anniversary" chocolate bar on the side. Sweet!!!! You have to order the piping hot grand marnier soufflé at the beginning of the meal to allow time for its preparation; it was soooooooooo delicious! A kind host and gentleman by the name of Cyril showed interest in our comfort and satisfaction, as well as of all of the other guests in our room of the restaurant, and he took time to speak with us and them. Our server, Gayle, was very pleasant and efficient, and attentive to the progress of our dining, without being interruptive. Gayle is very personable and patient. All of the staff were observed to be very pleasant and accommodating; however, we had such a great time with Gayle so we will be requesting her as our server on our next visit. I encourage all those interested in going to Le Yaca to check out their website and menu. Prepare yourself for an abundantly delightful meal, and a peak dining experience! Bon appetit!

We visited today for our anniversary. The onion soup was wonderful as always, and the potato leek soup was delicious. The Le Thon was perfect, and my wife raved about the Le Filet grillé Sauce Roquefort. The entire staff was so attentive and friendly. Le Yaca is one of our favorite spots in Williamsburg.

This was a lunch visit. In addition to standard entrees, restaurant offers a lovely 2 or 3 course fixed price menu. Chose the house salad, salmon with truffle vinaigrette, and creme brule. All the food was flavorful and well presented. Have also dined for brunch, dinner, and holiday meals over the past 5 years. Restaurant never fails to deliver.
