Half the meal was delicious and half was not. The filet was delivered cold and obviously had sat a while. It was returned overcooked possibly just a bad cut of meat. No apology or consideration given for poor dinner. Very disappointed
This is a little gem of a restaurant. All our selections were exceptional. Enjoyed the variety of choices and so glad we were able to relax and savor the food without feeling rushed. Desserts are a must!!!
The menu sounded great but we were disappointed by the seafood dishes we ordered. The mussels in wine and garlic was bland and too watery. The scallops were overcooked and yet somehow also mushy on the sides..We really wanted to like it and it was for my mother's birthday so was especially disappointing, particularly given the expense. Maybe seafood is not the specialty of this restaurant? The grilled vegetable salad was very good though. Sorry.
My boyfriend and I went here for the first time and we were very impressed. The atmosphere was perfect including the music and the lighting. We also really enjoyed our food. We both had the onion soup and it was incredible. I had the lobster ravioli and it was probably the best I had, and the portion was perfect. The sauce it was served with was also really impressive. My boyfriend had the salmon and veggies and he loved them too. Unfortunately we were both too full for dessert but we will definitely be heading back soon!
We loved the food and the service. The owner made us feel like house guests. We'll be back
We enjoyed everything we ordered! They were very accommodating to the 4 children we had too. Loved the BYOB! excellent french onion soup, coq a vin, steak frites , beef bourgoine, chocolate mousse, chocolate soufle, and crepes suzette!
Online it said the prix fixe was $45 but it was $50 plus an automatic 20% gratuity. Not fair, Le Persil.
Absolutely top quality food. However our server was very odd. Totally unprofessional..which made us feel uncomfortable, however she seemed quite junior. We were subsequently served by a very efficient server so much was redeemed
Went here for a romantic dinner/date night with my husband, we were both extremely pleased with the entire evening. The food was amazing, and it was cooked to perfection, even difficult items like salmon, scallops, escargot and chocolate souffle. Flavors were pared well together and serving size was just enough to feel satisfied. BYOB allowed us to bring a bottle we wanted, and the service and ambiance were pleasant and added to the dining experience. We will definitely be going back for any special nights out!
Our fourth visit to this Pocono gem. Food is great, perfect ambiance and great timely service . Looking forward to our next visit. Thank you..
We were looking for a place to eat and found this restaurant on OpenTable. We decided to try it and we were pleasantly surprised. The decor is a bit challenging and could use something but the food and the service were superb!!I wish I had paid attention to the BYOB since in PA you cannot buy wine just anywhere. We had a great dinner and never missed the wine!
We were the only ones there. Then discovered it was a BYOBband the nearest wine store was two blocks away. We decided that we would not have a drink and enjoy the time together and the food. I specifically asked if there was anything on the menu that was not available due to the fact we were the only ones there. We were told everything on the menu was available. We had water and waited. Ten to fifteen minutes later the server came out to tell me what I ordered was unavailable. "Thank you very much," and we left.
We discovered this little French bistro last summer and returned again last week. The food is excellent! The first time I had the Coquilles St Jacques and Coq au Vin and my husband the Escargots and Crab Croquettes-all delish. Last week we shared the Shrimp with Avocado Salsa appetizer and had Bouef Bourguignon and Poulet Cordon Bleu as entrees; all we wonderful. We can't wait to go back and try something else! Surprisingly the BYOB was nearly empty at our last visit-hard to figure since this is extraordinaryly good French cuisine.
My husband and I were in Stroudsburg, PA for a wedding, and we needed a place to eat dinner. I chose Le Persil Bistro randomly. I haven't eaten many meals in my life that produced joy. This one did. The food was exquisite. Delicious. Uncomplicated. Good ingredients lovingly prepared. Highly recommend.
This was our 2nd visit. We were extremely pleased both visits. Best French onion soup ever. It was flavorful and not dark and salty. My friend had escargot appetizer both times and said it was the best he ever had. The entrees were all delicious. I just have to say heads up on some desserts that need to be ordered morning of reservations like apple tart as well as some others. If we resized that we would have although the crepes with berries were delicious.
The food at Le Persil was good, but the room was a little too bright. Perhaps if they dimmed the lights a bit then the ambiance would have been more suited to the restaurant fare and overall atmosphere. The Escargot was delicious and our waitress was very attentive!!!
Excellent minimalist experience. This lovely small French restaurant is clean and intimate. The young lady who served us was excellent and very accommodating. The food (this is where the minimalist comes in) is traditional French classics served without fuss or frill but cooked to perfection. From the escargot to the franchese and the filet. All perfection. We will certainly be back.
My boyfriend & I were staying in the Poconos for the weekend. We were looking for a good restaurant to have dinner. I opened my OpenTable app & the first restaurant listed was Le Persil. We looked at few other restaurants but this place had the best reviews & the menu was most appealing to us.
When we arrived, we were greeted right away. Our hostess was also our waitress & she was very corteous & attentive.
My boyfriend ordered the steamed mussels for appetizer & I the caesar salad with bacon. Both were delicious. For entrees, we ordered the salmon & pasta with grilled chicken in an alfredo sauce. Delicous as well! For dessert, we order the creme brulee &, you guessed it, delicious!
Great service, great portion sizes & loved the ambiance! We would definitely return on our next trip to the Poconos.
The ONLY con was the parking. There was a small lot but other than that your other option was street parking so give yourself to find a space when you visit.
Great service and Excellent food. Definitely going back
We had dinner there last Friday. Our soups were served at such a hot temperature that it took too long to eat before our main course and we also burned the roofs of our mouths trying to hurry up eating it before the main course. The main courses were nothing special - the chicken paillard and filet mignon. We wish that the menu were changed up a bit. Also, the restaurant dining area itself was so cold - something minor perhaps but also one more thing that attention should be paid to.
This is the absolute best place to eat in Stroudsburg! Everything from the waitress to the last drop of sauce was amazing as always! The waitress is attentive and personable. My only complaint is the dessert selection was almost sold out. We will definitely be back!
Our reservation was at 6:00, at 7:50 we still did not have our dinners. We were going to a show at 8:00 (which the restaurant was aware of), so we paid for the appetizer and salad (which took over an hour) and left.
Food was just okay and prices were high. Very small, food took a long time to come, staff was very nice-but that doesn't make up for mediocre food.
Each time we visit the feedback goes nowhere We waited one hour and twenty min for steak dinner and crab cakes. 3 tables taken in entire restaurant.
Beet salad has hardly any dressing. Spoke to waitress and basically nothing in response other than I'm sorry. We will not go back
It took about 40 minutes to be served our appetizers. Food was fair at best. One meal was missing a side. Waitress was aware but never brought it. Atmosphere was nice and quaint.
Delightful! My wife and my favorite restaurant in Stroudsburg. We enjoy the French-style cuisine and the quiet, clean and unassuming atmosphere. The waitress was extremely nice and attentive. The historic window front adds a touch of charm to the room, providing an interesting view while also inviting interest for those passing by without being intrusive. Someday (in better weather) I'd like to try to outside dining for lunch. It the street and neighborhood across the street is improved, it would be hard to beat this place and location.
Since Antelleo's in Del Water Gap town closed, no restaurant compares to this place.
Love this outstanding, small, quiet spot with excellent french food. BYOB. Food is always very good. The Poconos is not know for great restaurants, this is one of the few.
Who knew you could find a little slice of France in NE PA! The food.....OMG!! A most memorable culinary experience. Thank you!!
We definitely enjoyed our meal at Le Persil and will go back and try some other things. I had the Coquilles St Jacques as an appetizer and was disappointed-it was not creamy and I did not think the watery broth complimented the scallops. My entree, Coq au Vin, was superb and made up for a so-so beginning. My husband had the Escargots as an appetizer and they were delicious-best he's ever had he said. His entree was disappointing, however. He had crab cakes which contained a good deal of breading. I think the rule of thumb here is to stick to the French dishes of which there are many to choose from.
The restaurant was cute and with byob relatively inexpensive. I had hoped the food would be good, but it was very mediocre. The beets in the beet salad were almost inedible and the onion soup just so-so. The entrees were decent. The potatoes au gratin for an extra $12 as a side were lousy.
We went to the restaurant after seeing so many good reviews and were really excited for dinner, but were disappointed with the food. Our waitress was nice although every other table had bread and we didn't, we weren't able to catch her attention although she walked by us multiple times. When we did get it we had been waiting at least 20 minutes and it was very hot so maybe they were baking it but we had reservations so I feel like they should have been prepared. The french onion soup was lacking in flavor, and we ordered a parmesan risotto that we had to send back because it literally had zero flavor, it was severely undercooked but at the same time tasted like white rice mush. The boef bourguignon was incredibly salty however the cordon blue was good. We got red bliss potatoes with both entrees but they were so chewy we almost couldn't get through them. In the end we opted not to get dessert because we didn't want to risk it, which is sad because they dessert menu looked delicious. I'm hoping we were just there on a bad night, but as it was a special occasion dinner for our anniversary it definitely dampened the mood.
Food was very good and worth the trip. Onion soup very good also but onions could be cut smaller
I went to Le Persil Bistro on a Saturday night and I had high expectations because of reviews I had read on other websites. Unfortunately, I had a so-so dining experience. The ambience is nice and the food was decent, but my main problem was the service. All four people in my party ordered appetizers, but only 3 appetizers came out, so obviously the person whose appetizer didn't arrive, was very disappointed, as he had to watch everyone else eat but his never came so he cancelled it. The chef even came out and apologized and told us the waiter was new, and had made a mistake by putting the appetizer on with the main dishes so it wasn't scheduled to come out with the other appetizers. They did offer to give the appetizer complimentary but we declined. In any event, it's a very nice, cute little restaurant, but we just didn't have the best experience... when you're paying a higher price tag for food, you're expectations are a little higher so I was a bit disappointed.
Had a wonderful dining experience at Le Persil. Went for dinner based on reviews we hade read.
For us, it was everything we were hoping for. The food was delicious, the place was clean and the service was on point. Finally we have a nice place to dine out in in this area. Highly recommend.
This is our go-to place for a special occasion with family, a date or where we bring out of town guests. It is simply charming, being reminiscent of a NY Style French Bistro. The food is seasoned for an incredible taste and the menu offers a nice variety of different choices. Desserts are excellent. BYOB is an added bonus for us. I would go here again and again and am so grateful for this petite gem making our town an even better place to live. :)
Service that was completely attentive, but very natural; lovely, simple atmosphere; and every. single. dish. was. perfect. Seriously, I've paid literally three times as much for meals which weren't anywhere near as well-executed as this one. I went there on vacation; this place is two hours from me, and I specifically plan to begin visiting the town just so I can go to this restaurant. It's worth it.
This was our second trip to Le Persil Bistro and it was, again, a lovely experience. Located in a modest storefront in Stroudsburg, the restaurant serves classic bistro dishes lovingly prepared. Escargot in shell, flavorful and light onion soup, coquille St. Jacques started our meal, all were delicious. Coq au vin, chicken cordon bleu and Beef burgundy were all well prepared, very tasty and brought to tge table hot and with a smile. Lovely place, give it a try. BYOB.
We visited on a Saturday night while staying at Shawnee for a ski weekend. At 730 there were only two other occupied tables in the small restaurant which I thought was surprising.
We enjoy French food and the menu had many choices that appealed to us. My husband started with the escargot which he enjoyed and I had the beet salad. The dressing on the salad was bland but the blue cheese was very good and was plentiful
We both had seafood- salmon and mahi mahi. While well prepared, both needed salt and I am not one to add salt at all. However, after adding salt, the flavor shone through and I enjoyed my meal.
Our waitress was very sweet but service was slow which I imagine was the kitchen. It was 50 minutes before we received our appetizers.
Overall, I think this could be an excellent place but it needs some attention to detail.
After a not so good experience my wife and I decided that this was a locally owned business and we may have hit it on an off day. That happens occasionally. We wanted to give LePersil another go. WOW, are we glad we did. Our appetizers, entrees and desert were to die for. The seasoning and sauces were clearly from a home recipe. We will definitely will return and highly recommend this fine restaurant if you want an amazing dining experience and superb food. The owner was there and we could tell she cared deeply about her food and the personal recipes used to prepare them. In these times I say support local restaurants. Especially when you can be sure of a terrific dinner. Don't miss this place.
We ate here with another couple on Valentine's Day for the first time. Although it was a special menu for the holiday, we found the choices for appetizer, main course and dessert quite pleasing. The butternut squash soup was delicious. We were very pleased with our entrees (chicken cordon bleu and braised beef shank). My friend said it was the best escargot he has ever had. The chocolate mousse and chocolate souffle were delicious. We will certainly plan to eat at this restaurant when we are in that area.
