Fun place with good food and attractive people ! We went and it was someone’s bday and there was a big fun celebration with the whole restaurant.. like they do At Abyss but for adults !
Perfect Saturday night it’s like dinner with family. Thank you to the Le Penguin team for great service, food, setting. Our favorite spot in Greenwich. Without peer.
This used to be my favorite place. This last time, the best part of the meal were the French fries. Something happened. Hopefully an off night, but everyone’s food was bland or overcooked. So sad.
Food well below average. All 4 mains not finished.
The food was delicious. We all ordered specials, thanks for our enthusiastic server. We always ask ourselves why we don't go more often.
A fun, bright experience for a midsummer lunch treat for Mom which Le Penguin did not disappoint. Lively, colorful, intimate dining room that fluttered with chatter. Attentive wait staff and Ivan made sure we were happy. Love the simplicity of the table with the penguin drawing on the rustic paper bag looking table runner and blue polka dot salt shaker - fun! We feasted on the Tomato Burrata appetizer which melted in my mouth with a happy marriage of savory and sweet flavors. Saumon Grille was poached to perfection (although not sure what the crunchy shavings were atop the fillet) and Mom raved over the Moules Frite in a dreamy saffron sauce. I am no fan or mussels, but that sauce was a huge "yum"! No complaints, even with being seated at a small table only 3 steps from the front door which would not usually rest well with me. Great bistro to elevate a lunch date. Magnifique - looking forward to returning soon!
Excellent small French Bistro. Food was very good and reasonably (for Greenwich, CT!) priced. Charming ambiance. We had lunch before visiting the Brandt Gallery
Always spot on. Very consistent quality across the menu. Can get noisy and cramped on busy nights.
Two out standing entrees - a cauliflower salad that was quite unusual and excellent then an amazing trout. I mentioned the noise level was high , but that was just one boisterous party and when they left (finally!) it was much better.
Overall experience fine - tried to modify reservation to add a fourth to our group - we were told we were given the only three top in the restaurant- when we arrived we were seated at a table that clearly could have seated four
We enjoyed our dinner very much, the patronage was dressed well, the service was very thoughtful, we will certainly return.
From start to finish, a lovely meal. Attentive staff. Varied menu. Food was really quite good. Duck and veal entrees. Will definitely return.
Always Wonderful! The food, the ambiance, the service, and there is rarely a wait for our table.
My only criticism is that the waiters tend to come over to the table every three minutes to get us to order. We really like to settle down, enjoy our wine, and talk about things before we look at the menu. We always feel a little rushed to order.
Absolutely--transported to a delicious meal in paris with a very friendly lively vibe!
We made a vegetable substitution and was surprised when we received the check that a $6 charge was added. The waiter should have advised us that there is a small charge for a substitution. I probably would have accepted but it was not done in a proper manner.
As usual everything was excellent. The food and service have always been good.
Consistently great, on all levels. Our favorite place in Greenwich, hands down!
This was our second time visiting Le Penguin, first in Westport, and this time in Greenwich. The staff once again was the marquee to a great evening as they were attentive, friendly and accommodating at all times. The food was excellent, as we chose the evening specials, a Halibut plate with gnocchi and a Short rib dish - that was readied in under 20 minutes. Yet again the drinks were excellent, as we tried the cocktails this time, and the ambiance second only to the wonderful weather of the day. Le Penguin has not disappointed!
Consistently high quality food. Excellent wine. The flourless chocolate cake is a no miss and the dark chocolate ice cream was just amazing.
Le Penguin is always a perfect dining experience. Food is great, service is excellent, the whole vibe at the restaurant is calm. It’s our favorite place to dine when we are in the area.
Been there for lunch 2x can’t wait to have dinner there
I visit led Penguin often , it never lets me down. Food , service and ambiance . Excellent!!!
Mediocre food in pleasant enough surroundings with good service. Still, poor value for the money.
My husban and I always enjoy going to Le Penguin but this time the filet mignon was not as good as expected. It had little flavor and although it was cooked appropriately, it was not tender. I will not order that again. Any of the fish dishes seem to be the better option.
One of our favorite places both for special occasions and for nights like that when I feel like just saying thank you to my wife for all the wonderful things she does
I really love this place! Third time I was there and it always delivers...food was just exceptional this time as well. I had a Black Bass which was a beautiful combination of flavors, including the Morel mushrooms. My girlfriend had some delicious Scallops. I do think for a pretty expensive restaurant, that there is value here. Appetizer of Pate was very generous and Juan our waiter was even astute enough to ask us if we wanted more cartelized onions...that a waiter on the ball! I don't mind paying higher prices for exception food. My only complain on the food (hence my 4 stars, not 5) was the dessert. Now, $13 can be a little steep for dessert and the Chocolate Mousse was severely disappointing only because it was simply average and had no finesse at all...like something on the level of a common over the counter dessert. Was really surprised. I encourage the owners to evaluate it and I'm sure they will. This seems like a place really dedicated to a great experience. We will be back!!
A little piece of Paris right in town......great food & service.
Great food, charming inside. One thing though...how can bread be an afterthought in a French bistro? It should be crunchy with a great “tooth”. Instead it was slightly stale, with a white bread consistency. It’s probably lost on most local diners today - and this was the only flaw in an otherwise great evening.
We were there early on a Friday night and the place was packed by the time we left. Three of us ate shared appetizers and had three different entrees: mussels, veal, and lamb. Everything was perfect. The wine was excellent but certainly overpriced. It would not stop us from returning. Absolutely wonderful dining.
Attentive staff. Wonderful menu with great choices. Appetizers and entrees are perfect sizes and the wine menu has many choices.
The lunch service and food were were excellent. It is always a delight to go to this favorite neighborhood restaurant.
Authentic bistro atmosphere. Delicious cuisine. Excellent service.
The in place in Greenwich - a French bistro ambience.
As always great food and our server Edwin is fabulous
Had a magical lunch on Le Penguin. Fantastic food (highly recommend the foie gras) and, while there were others in the restaurant, the noise level was reasonable.
Very nice staff, excellent service and tasty food. This is a neighborhood gem.
Always consistently good. Nice variety and very good service.
The food was excellent, however, the restaurant felt cozy yet a little cramped. The service was very attentive.
Girlfriends get together. Branzino was fabulous, presentation beautiful and vegetable succotash delicious. Arugula salad with artichoke disappointing. Artichoke barely present, just arugula with a few parm shavings. Expensive
