Le Garrick, located in London's theatreland, is an intimate French restaurant. There is a homely restaurant at ground level, while at lower ground level the friendly bar/dining room has intimate nooks and booths for romantic moments. Expect classics and favourites of French bistro cooking; Faux filet Rib Eye or Onglet with sauce poivre or Béarnaise & French fries. For pudding choose from Crème brulée or Lemon tart among the classic desserts. The 2/C prix fixe menu is a lifesaver pre-theatre. In an area that's full of chains, Le Garrick is a one-off. Annual celebrations in the restaurant for Beaujolais Nouveau and Bastille Day. Perfectly located for Covent Garden, Leicester Square and Trafalgar Square.

    Amazing as always… we live in Australia now but once a year in the UK. We have visited you for many many years and love your restaurant and the food/ambiance always amazing. Yesterday was no exception.. although very different as we normally visit you in the winter this was our first summer back in the UK for over 20 years and we were lucky to have a table outside and experience your hospitality in a very different way to normal winter or summer, we still love you. See you next year. ❤️

    Le Garrick may well be a "Covent Garden institution" as they describe themselves. But, like a lot of institutions, knowing the time to modernise has escaped them, as is the case here. I don't think they have decorated since they opened nearly 40 years ago. I like a bit of rustic now and then, but the decor is best described as tired and tatty. The food was distinctly average; we had a burger and steak. It's the sort of food I would expect to find at an average beach bar, where the owners know that it's unlikely you'll be around long enough for a return visit. It's food cooked without passion or flair, just grub on your plate to satisfy your calorific needs. The burger was delivered on a wooden platter, alongside the chips. But I cannot fathom why you would place a serviette underneath the chips? After a few minutes, the serviette was disintegrating and getting stuck to the burger, meaning I had to pick the paper out of the burger bun by hand. The service was commendable, our waitress was accommodating, and she served us promptly.

    My wife had mussels which were not very nice. The broth was tasteless.i had the Cassoulet de Toulouse which was OK, but I felt it is a winter dish and should not be on the menu in the summer. The waitress could not understand proper English when trying to get a simple soda & lime corrected. The glass came with soda with slices of lime but no cordial as was on the menu. We had to go to the bar eventually to get a bit of taste in it. A disappointing experience

    This was a return visit to the Garrick, having enjoyed the food and the ambience before. We were going to see a show and we let them know both in advance and on arrival that this would be the case the table was booked for 5:15 pm and we arrived on time. We order drinks straight away except my son‘s coca-Cola didn’t arrive until it had been asked for several times. We ordered our food after about 10 minutes however it didn’t arrive until 6 pm which left little time to enjoy the food and order desert which we had intended to do. When the food came, it wasn’t what we ordered. I had ordered two steaks with salad (for my daughter and I) but only one came with salad the other came with chips. My wife would also ordered a side salad but this never arrived. They very quickly replace the chips with a salad after a brief complaint from me. The food was okay, but not quite of the standard I expected from previous visits. I know there was a problem with the kitchen as a number of the menu choices were not available. Even so it was still disappointing. At the end of the meal, for the first time in about a decade, I asked the waitress to remove the service charge from the bill as I wasn’t prepared to pay it. I’d like to point out this wasn’t down to a single person but the overall experience being poor which I suspect was down to a combination of different factors. I felt bad for the young lady, but there was no way I was willing to pay service when it was so poorly delivered.
