    Six of us met to celebrate a birthday and Le Diplomate was exactly what you'd expect it to be -- competent if unoriginal and very noisy with a full crowd on a Monday night. It executes standard French fare well and the service was appropriately attentive.

    Always enjoy dining at your bistro. Appreciated my request to be seated at a quiet as possible table...my husband wears a hearing aid and this does make dining more pleasurable. So thank you for this assistance by the maitre' d.

    I was disappointed with the table we were given, especially since I had requested a window table in my original reservation and again when calling to confirm the reservation. Instead, we were seated directly next to the service station and mini bar area. VERY disappointing! I noticed window tables were available throughout our meal, so I know there wasn’t a lack of availability.

    Best steak au poivre I ever enjoyed. So much flavor and the steak temperature was as requested. Sadly, they did not offer us bread, while others around us had been seated after us were already served a basket of bread. We ordered drinks shortly after being seated, but they came after a second request oy after the entree was on the table. My wife ordered mussels and fries. The fries had been sitting out and served Luke warm and had to be sent back with a new order coming out perfectly. We also order Hericot Verde and they never arrived. I asked that they be taken off the bill which they were. The waiter offered to "rush" us.out an order, which he did, just as we were finishing out entree. I took two bites to see how good they tasted. They were great, but we did not imtend them to be our dessert. Understand, our waiter was not mean. But the service showed lack of concern. I would say more indifference than than intentionally ignoring us.

    Food was fabulous. Bread arrived right before food, and wine and other beverages did not arrive until after we were already eating our entrees. Other than timing, everything was great, but timing did take away from the experience.

    The outdoor area inside the tent seems to be a bit run down. It would be nice if you could repair the brick as it is uneven. I feel like I am eating on slant and it is getting more uncomfortable. Also, it seemed like you are a bit understaffed in the waitstaff department. There are a ton of people at the hostess stand, a ton of people walking around in suits with an iPad, but finding your server is quite challenging. Perhaps give each server less tables so that they can be available. Thanks

    Le Diplomate never disappoints. Went for Sunday brunch with friends. Despite a very crowded restaurant, we were seated promptly at the time of our booking. The gougeres are a fantastic nibble while having a drink and looking over the menu. The bread basket is always generous, interesting, and delicious. My oysters were cold, fresh, and perfectly shucked. The steak tartare was consistently as sublime as in previous meals. Fellow diners had the half lobster (so perfectly cooked that it didn't need anything other than a squeeze of lemon), mushroom soup that was rich and warming, eggs Norwegian and the egg white omelet - all of which were well-prepared and yummy. Desserts were the Paris brest, profiteroles and pot de creme. All were, again, delicious. The generous serving of pot de creme left enough to be taken home for enjoyment later.

    The bread was omg! Never want to give up carbs like these. My egg white ratatouille omelette with goat cheese was light and fluffy washed down with a perfect caffe latte.

    Every time we come to DC, we make a point of eating at Le Diplomate. Every time, it's been amazing. Until last night. For some reason, the crowd was very young (very early 20's) and the noise level was out of control. We enjoy an an active ambience, but this was a noise level that made it almost impossible to talk with the people at our table. Not sure what the management can do, but this felt very much like a party scene rather than a finer dining experience. Our waitress was wonderful and did a great job. However, my food (table of 4) wasn't up the same standard as I'm used to at Le Diplomate. I asked for my steak to be cooked a certain way, but it wasn't. But, the rest of the table enjoyed their food. All in all, an okay dining experience where we're used to a really great one.

    Celebratory dinner, very festive and the outdoor seating was lovely (inside would have been way too noisy!). Kudos to the servers — Very professional service, the kind you don’t often find these days. Good food. I enjoyed the Dover sole (had never had it before), my dining companion less so (bc health-conscious and she didn’t realize it would be “drenched” in butter sauce w/salty capers). Well paced meal. Cocktails were okay, but nothing special. Overall, a top-notch restaurant.

    This was my first time in. The atmosphere is super fun and lively. We had a reservation and were seated promptly. The food and drinks were excellent. My only problem was with the server, Liya. She seemed to be rushing me and my guest. Repeatedly coming to the table pushing us to place our orders. We had never been in before and she offered no recommendations. We ordered everything at once, as she said that was how we must order. We were disappointed that the appetizer and soup/salad course were brought at the same time. The tables around us that were there before we arrived were receiving their appetizers as we were looking at dessert menus. We wanted to enjoy our night out and didn’t like being rushed.

    We had onion soup and half lobsters. The soup surprisingly didn't taste salty and was quite tasty. The lobster was tasty as well. The bread was delicious. Le Diplomate is pricey but sitting outside in the enclosed patio was lovely and we were never rushed at lunch.

    Service was the best part and what you’re really paying for. Tight spaces, mediocre food for both of us. We did 3 courses for lunch ending with their Vietnamese coffee which was my highlight. Good or bad? Your call lol. Can’t say it’s worth all the hype with the selection DC has.

    Incredible dinner! We had an 8:30 reservation and were promptly seated despite the crowd! The beef tartare was perfect as were our main dishes, the beef bourguignon and the steak au poivre were so flavorful! We took the crème brûlée to go, and like the rest of our meal, it did not disappoint. We will be back when we return to DC!

    I was seated in one of the outside booths which are usually nice, but the ones on the extreme are extremely cold. We didn't have a good time because of it, the food was getting cold. The heater is on but there are intake vents at those extreme booths.
