Inside was adorable and festive however the service was absolutely awful and the food was nothing spectacular. We waited 15min before someone came to our table and poured us water. We were never greeted or welcomed by our server and we thought he was the bus boy at first. Food was under seasoned and just okay for the price point.
My favorite when visiting D.C. So good to be back after a long absence.
Service felt stressed.
First time did not disappoint definitely a re visiting thanks so much
The perfect place with great food, service and ambience.
Our all-time favorite! Outstanding
Fantastic good and overall good service. Busy but a beautiful space and fun. Decorated for the holidays and was a wonderful night. Will go back for sure!
Food was outstanding although the noise levels made conversation a bit challenging.
Great Vibes…………Surprisingly efficient service at a very busy Saturday brunch…very well-prepared and well-presented food…expectations exceeded !
The outdoor chalet was a very nice option for dining. It was cozy and each room had its own heating vent. However, we went on a day where it was quite warm outside so it got really hot in there with no option to control the level of heat coming in. There was a small fan in the corner, but that did not help much. The food and drinks were decent, with the entrees being a bit on the saltier side, but still edible. We also got the escargot which was amazing. Overall, it was a nice meal.
Great menu and amazing service. Love it!
Great festive feeling for the holidays! The food and service were great!
Great dining experience. Food and drinks were amazing. Atmosphere and server were top notch!
We grabbed the first reservation, and you must have a reservation here! Very enjoyable, but the lobster frites are not available for lunch! Amazing otherwise!
Yummy!!! Food was great service a slow but it was packed good ambiance just a great experience overall
Could have been seated in a better table
My guests fully enjoyed their Level Diplomate experience. The food, service and ambience were wonderful.
Outside was comfortable and quiet. Excellent!
The best in the city.
It was absolutely perfect!!! Went there for my birthday lunch with my mom. Can not wait to go again. I love this restaurant. The Christmas decorations are lovely, staff outstanding and the food is the best. Please try the warm shrimp salad!!
So delicious! Will be going back and taking friends with us. Our waiter was amazing. He loves his job and it rubs off on the customers.
A great place! - Excellent food with good service. Le Diplomate lived up to the high reviews. Our selection: cheese plate, shrimp cocktail, mushroom tart, beef bourguignon, half roast chicken. My guests had the Vanilla Bean Creme Brulee and Profiteroles, and they enjoyed these desserts so much.
Delicious food and excellent service. The beef bourguignon was delicious.
The music was too loud and we couldn’t hear our conversation. We asked the server to turn it down, but that didn’t happen. Such a shame.
The food is always delightful and Lola was great!
Been looking forward to this reservation that needs to be made in advance. Service was very punctual. Gathered with friends and felt very rushed to always move onto the next thing as the table next to us with the same number of people didn’t appear to be rushed. Wanted to stay for coffee and a glass of rose and felt like I was inconveniencing the server by staying. Felt this way after each app or meal and especially at the end. Felt like we were on a time crunch for two hours so much so we just closed out and moved to the bar when it wasn’t that busy and the table remained empty. The food was good and service was prompt. Could have done without the pressure to rush a get together with friends especially after spending so much. We had a 6:15 reservation. Would have loved to have given 5 stars if it wasn’t for this. Love eating out and have never felt this way in an establishment.
We were seated quickly, but had to wait awhile (about 15min) for the waiter to greet us.
The waiter was not very attentive
Trying restaurants in DC.
Le Diplomate has a lot of great reviews and I wanted to give a try
This is a very beautiful French brasserie like and you can really immerse yourself in this decor.
On the food side, I was a bit disappointed.
First the bread is served with an American butter (cream cheese like) and this is far from the French butter as French we use to eat.
Second, I ordered the foie gras and I checked with the waiter if it was a real foie gras, he confirmed, but it turned out to be a mousse, this was not the meal I was expecting at all! Good toast but too much of this not so tasty mousse.
Finally the steak frites, well cooked for the steak and not the best fries I had.
Conclusion, atmosphere and decor is great, and the food is not a wow factor at all!
Overall, a delicious experience! The tables were a bit crowded, and brunch on a Sunday was a little loud, but the food and service were excellent.
The food was great, as was the service. However, the wine, a bottle of bourgoulais at a cost of $100, was less than desirable. It tasted like a $7 bottle of wine you can buy at any liquor store. Also the noise level was very high, but I guess that is what is to be expected for a Saturday evening.
Fantastic food. Excellent service. Expensive, but worth it. Recommend for a “special” night out.
What can I say that hasn’t been said before? Le Diplomate is the go-to place because of its reputation for great food, service and prices. But I will say that I was impressed by the quality of the meat with the steak ftites. Usually that meat leaves something to be desired, but this cut was very tender.
Le Diplomate never disappoints. Everything from the food, to the greeting walking in, to the service is consistent. Don't change a thing!
Fantastic brunch. The best bread in DC.
Food was good. Lobster was delish, but the garlic butter is a little much. Overwhelming. The mushroom soup is great. French onion soup, ok. Warm shrimp salad by far the best!! Definitely a must try. The shrimp is good, and the tossed greens and dressing is tasty. The service was great! Thank you
Great energy. Good food. Attentive wait staff. Preferred when they all wore masks.
Great dinner and excellent food! Pacing of service was a bit rushed.
The special thanks giving menu was not as good as other plates in this place
Thoroughly enjoyed our evening. Lively and fun atmosphere with excellent service. Particularly enjoyed the beef tartare, Salade Verte, mussels, and husband said the trout amandine was one of the best fish dishes he ever had. Crème brulee was also fantastic. Reasonable prices for the quality of food.
