Great lunch sitting in the outdoor booths. All food was excellent!
Great food! Wouldn't recommend Profiterole if you don't like banana and chocolate together. Crème brûlée is extraordinary. HIGHLY RECOMMEND for antipasti Ricotta Ravioli, Mushroom Tart, Onion Soup Gratinée, for entrees Salmon, Steak Au Poivre, and Steak Frites. The steak is SOOOO GOOD! For a person who doesn't like red meat, salmon is a perfect choice! Lots of wine selection and they have a quite a bit outdoor seating that is social distanced. HIGHLY RECOMMEND THE FOOD HERE!
Awesome food/service. Great spot.
Lovely venue. Great bread. Chicken paillard was tough and chewy. No steak salad option despite a $38 steak frite option on the menu. Weak lunch choices. Mostly a destination for the ambience.
Food was incredible. Service was spectacular. Order the profiteroles for dessert...
Such a great unique and amazing spot! We were visiting from Chicago and celebrating a special birthday and everything was amazing. They adjusted our reservation for us when we ran into a transportation issue so we didn’t have to miss the special celebration. We will definitely be back the next time we’re here!
The bread and butter were amazing and the staff was friendly. But sitting outside it smelled like garbage, which was hard to take. I'm sure it would have been lovely sitting indoors, though it was really cold in there when I went in for the restroom. The burger was good but too salty - and I like a lot of salt. My husband's fish was under-seasoned, but the bean salad that came with it was really delicious, bright and flavorful. He enjoyed his escargot. The service was fine. Overall, I wasn't very impressed considering the amazing choices we have in DC. I probably wouldn't go back but would be happy to accompany my husband if he wants to.
The escargot and Bread is to die for. Can’t wait to go back!
The ambience here is really unmatched. We felt totally transported to France and the food is delicious as well.
Great spot for a wonderful leisurely lunch
Le Diplomate has proven to be a neighborhood mainstay these past months. Consistently good food and service. Kirsten was our server on Monday. She has great instincts and really delivered good service.
Awesome food and awesome service! Really authentic french food!
First time dining here, everything was fantastic, especially the steak.
Service was not good this evening. No one came to our table for a long time. When we finally asked — no apologies. Wrong orders. Rude waiter. Just awkward.
The service and food were wonderful. It was an enjoyable time with family
I enjoy coming to this restaurant for many years. Generally everything is perfect but not my last visit. Our waiter was innatentive and seem to ignore us. We had to wait for almost an hour for our food. Meanwhile we did not get any update about the delay. I had to ask another waitress to help us because our waiter was simply not there. We finally left after two hours with mixed feelings about this meal. I felt so disappointed because we were looking forward for a good experience and a great meal.
Well worth the wait getting a reservation finally!!! The veal was to die for! So good! Oysters were delicious too! The dessert was delicious!!!
Fantastic waiter explained everything for us first timers, and gave recommendations. Wonderful shellfish, onion soup, cocktails and lobster!
Always a great time.
Wonderful service and the food qas delicious. Time to do a little maintenance to the furniture
Fantastic as always. Took visitors from AZ for lunch.
Loved the whole experience!
Le Diplomate never fails to please. One of the best dining spots in Washington.
Great service and ambiance. Lovely place for a special occasion.
Our server Matthew was exemplary.
Very delicious food, excellent service, celebratory environment. Great place!
Always delicious. Thank you
I really wanted to give Le Dip 5 stars, since I’ve waited so long to go there. But honestly it was a little disappointing after all the hype. We ate indoors and it was LOUD. We had to shout and repeat ourselves and I got hoarse. The place was hopping! I loved the lively atmosphere and the decor, but maybe a few sound panels?
Service could be better. We had to wait a long time to order. We ordered cocktails, entrees and a bottle of wine when we finally got the waiter’s attention. The meal came so fast we had just started our drinks, but it took a long time to get the wine. The steak au poivre was truly excellent, but the boeuf bourguignon was meh and the steak frites was mostly frites with a small C- steak. The pot de creme and the profiteroles were to die for. Yum!
Maybe it was an off night, and I appreciate that restaurant staffing is a challenge these days. I’d like to try it again sometime, maybe for a boozy lunch.
The place was too crowded, too loud, and the waiter did not give a memorable service for the price we paid. I thought was suppose to be a higher level of dress code from the public. It was my first time there and now the last.
The service was very poor. The table to the left sat 5 mins after us and they were greeted first and served first. The waiter was rude and always seemed rushed. He never introduced himself to us and when taking our orders walked away before we finished placing our orders so we had to order twice. I visited from Texas and this was my first time to Washington DC. My son really wanted to eat the burger since it has outstanding reviews but the service offered by the waiter and overall staff was extremely unpleasant and ruined our experience at Le Diplomat. I do not plan on coming back to this restaurant. And it is important to point out it was not busy at all when we came.
Absolutely lovely and well done. I highly recommend.
My experience was great. The food and the service was top notch. No complaints.
Love Le Dip and will be coming back for more. Amazing steak frites. Honestly, just delicious French-American goodness.
It is a nice place but I don’t see why so crowded, it’s good but not that good. The firs waiter that we had, she doesn’t care about making you feel welcome, the guy after her was much better.
Duck and salmon were okay in taste, steak au poivre, mushrooms tart and boeuf burguignon were delicious. Ambiance is great.
As always the food and service was amazing. One of my favorite restaurants in DC.
It was a crowded Sunday evening and we had a reservation. We were seated in the back of the restaurant, which wasn’t ideal. It was a hot/humid evening, so we were looking for a light meal and ordered salads to start and heavier appetizers to follow (the third in our party ordered a full entree). We also ordered carafes of wine. This seemed unsatisfactory to our waiter, as he was condescending to us throughout the evening , and went so far as to kick my husband’s chair 5 times (!). We have been to Le Diplomate before, but unsure if we will return.
I simply love this restaurant. I always over order because I want to taste different dishes. The service is beyond five starts, attentive, personal and smart. Thanks for another great experience.
Good casual dining if you wish to enjoy brunch on Sunday with friends. The service was friendly and the food was good but not memorable. They need a signature dish .
Had a great time the staff was courteous and attentive. The food is always on ooint
