Best prime rib I’ve ever had! Incredible meal!
I have been coming to Lawrys for 30+ years. The elegant, McCormick mansion always serves a delicious prime rib meal with the most decadant side dishes. The creamed spinach and creamed corn are fabulous. If there is room for desert, the options are luscious and go well with their great cup of coffee.
Great prime rib. It came like I ordered it. The service was excellent
The Prime Rib was the best ever. The restaurant is outstanding and very traditional. Not for kids type place. The prices are a bit high but the quality of the food makes up for it. It is a must if you are in Chicago.
I was not happy with the service I received this Sunday it was not my usual pleasant experience.
Came here after going the theater. Have been here several times over many many years. Never disappointed. Service was great and food outstanding. Keep up the tradition!
Had a great time with our server, he was a lot of fun. Lots of good food and great drinks. Would go back again!!
When I called to push our reservation back 30 minutes they were very accommodating. However, when we arrived we were told they were 10-15 minutes behind and we actually were not seated for 25 minutes. We placed a drink order with the bartender in the lounge which clearly was forgotten as it was never given to us.
Upon being seated our server did not come to our table for 10 minutes. We then learned the appetizers we saw in the lounge were not offered in the restaurant. She took our drink orders and, again, disappeared for another 10 minutes. She dropped off our drinks and left without taking our order. When she came back another 10 minutes later she started to take our order but the whole process was very confusing. I think she could have explained that we just need to let her know if we’re having something other than prime rib and all other sides and cuts and such would be shared when our meat was cut.
Again, she disappeared. We ordered crab cakes as an appetizer suggested (and somewhat pushed) by her. They showed up after the prime rib was served. My plate of prime rib sat cold while we waited for our friend’s lobster tails to show up.
My prime rib was dry! Medium rare prime rib should not be dry. I had no juice to soak up with the Yorkshire pudding. After the lobster arrived I got a chance to ask for bleu cheese sauce. I waited 7 minutes for it to arrive. It was the wait times between visits from our waitress I found most frustrating and disappointing.
We talked up this restaurant to our friends with us so much & left feeling embarrassed we asked them to spend so much money on a poor experience. We couldn’t even see the dessert menu because we had to leave at 10:30pm for a show. Such a bummer.
Have not been previous. I discovered what I have been missing ! Will be back next time I am in Chicago. Will spread the Word! Thank You
Lawry's does not disappoint with their prime rib and side dishes. Wine list is extensive!! I would not recommend children since the meals are more for adults and this is an adult atmosphere.
The last few times that we've been in Chicago, my wife and I have made a point of having dinner at Lawry's. We have never been disappointed. The food is great, the atmosphere is cozy, and the schtick (such as the waitresses going by Miss or Mrs., or the spinning salad) is fun. We'll be back!
Very pleasant experience. The manager was exceptional.
Loved introducing my sister to Lawry's when she visited me recently from New York. We both love prime rib and Lawry's does the best presentation/preparation of this favorite dish. Everything was delicious. One small hiccup. My extra dirty martini arrived at the table not dirty at all. Our server took it back to the bar and watched the bartender make it real dirty. It was great! And our server was outstanding. Plus, the atmosphere and overall service is top notch. Just love Lawry's! A Chicago treasure.
Been going to Lawrys for years and the prices are so high and the prime rib is getting smaller. Waitress was not very friendly. Disappointing visit.
My wife and I come to Chicago once a year (for the past 25 years) and Lawry's is at the top of our list. If we lived downtown, it would be a once a month priority. If you're planning a trip to the Loop and pass up this Excellent Dining Experience, you missed the full experience of this beautiful city.
An experience to say the least. Amazing prime rib. Don’t expect to just get in and get out, there is no rush. Highly recommend going.
Great food and service. Bar selection outdated.. had no honey jack or fireball
Larry's never has let me down. The Prime Rib is beyond th best and the service is extraordinary.
although the service was outstanding, the food was room temperature i dont think the carts keep anything hot. both my husband and my dinners were the same. potatoes vegetables prime rib. all was barely room temperature. also every restaurant we ever dined at for one of our bdays, has always sent something complimentary to the table for dessert; whether a scoop of ice cream, slice of cake or cupcake with candle. the restaurant knew it was my husbands birthdsy, yet not even a cookie was brought to us food was great and waitress was fantastic. just needs be kept hot.
Great place to go to impress customers, first time there definitely be back, love the ambiance,
Reservation process very simle
was surprised that we did not have to wait forever at the bar to get a table.
upon request I have got a larries cut with a bone, I guess a Special priviledge
look Forward to be there next IMTS in 2020
Maybe you could rearrange the seating to more quiet atmosphere.
Been going here for years and it was great. This time they seem to have changed course and not bring the prime rib cart over to the table to be carved.....which Is one of the reasons the place is legendary. To bad.
Service was slow. It took 1 1/2 hour to get our food. Very loud!
We had been yearly diners at Lawry’s Beverly Hills and decided to try the Lawry’s in Chicago while visiting the Chicago Art Institute. Wow! I got the small cut of prime rib with mashed potatoes and we ordered the creamed spinach and creamed corn sides. It comes with Yorkshire pudding and au jus. They normally put gravy on the potatoes but I prefer the au jus. The food and experience were sublime! I highly recommend this restaurant for a memorable experience in a beautiful and historic atmosphere.
Maybe I am not the best person to do this review. I am not a prime rib person. I can't see paying $56 for a beef roast i can cook for $12. yes mine come out the same way and texture. I dont see all the hype. The filet mignon was Ok. I have had way better at an Outback or on my own grill
We had an outstanding meal with fabulous service. Ms. Parent was our waitress and she is outstanding. Lawry's has become a regular place to go for us. The food is delicious and consistent as well as service.
All our steaks were undercooked, server never checked in with us after meals were given to us. Defiantly wish menu was more customizable, I’m not a fan of the dressing but wasn’t offered an alternative .
Our first visit to Chicago Lawrys. And it met all of our expectations! Service was very good and all employees went above and beyond. We had a wonderful dinner.
This was a great dinner date for my husband and I as well celebrated his 40th birthday! Everything was amazing- atmosphere, staff, drinks “Chicago sunset”, food and dessert- they gave my husband a raspberry dessert that was fabulous! We will go back for sure and recommend to others!
Excelente servicio, magnífica comida ambiente de primera, lista de vinos muy completa, el prime rib con varias opciones.
Amazing Prime Rib carved at your table
sides are fresh and tasty
deserts are delectable
Wonderful service and delicious food. A very enjoyable night out in a lovely city!
My wife and I went with another couple for a business dinner at their request. In all fairness the two of us do not eat beef or pork. We found that it is all about the way they serve the Prime Rib. While our server was professional we did sit down with no silverware at two place settings and no napkins at another. We chose the fish of the day which was OK. The spinning salad is a nice circuit but not anything special about the salad. We skipped desserts which appeared good. Also a very good wine list with some good red wines to match the meats.
Only reason not 5 stars across the board was that some butter was splashed on me accidentally and no offer to take care of dry cleaning was offered
This was my 57th birthday and I wanted my wife to experience Lawry's ambiance. The last time I dined here was about 20 years ago and it was wonderful then and it was just as wonderful now. The staff was so very nice and my wife didn't feel overwhelmed and enjoyed every second on it. Our server was amazing and she informed us about your VIP membership and we signed up to become members.
Lawry's has changed over the years from an adult restaurant to family style. We had kids making lots of noise next to us which made a quiet conversation with each other difficult. The other table had visitors with dirty t-shirts. When I asked for cracked pepper for my salad the waitress pointed to a shaker on the table. My wife likes to visit when we go to Chicago. I know these are little things, and maybe I have not changed with the times, but Personally, for the $, Its good food but everything else has become average.
If you want to sip a little wine and have a quiet conversation with your wife choose a different restaurant.
The food and the service was worth the cost and the staff were very professional and easy going.
Lawny's never fails. We have been coming here since the early nineties. In the beginning it was for our anniversary once a year, but now we try to get here at least three to four times a year. The Side Door is a great alternative lunch option when dinner is not an option!
Overall the food was very good. Roast beef very tender but not a strong beefy flavor. The Ribeye steak was excellent, very tender and flavourful. I felt a little rushed to order my food but overall very good.
The food was great as usual. Service was timely and friendly.
