Lawry's The Prime Rib - Chicago Ratings and Reviews
A very nice dinner. The prime rib was the best we've ever had. It was almost fork tender. It was all fresh and hot. Spinning salad bowl was delicious. Yorkshire pudding was perfect accompaniment to the prime rib. Service was not rushed at all. Wine list is very well priced. Had Christmas carolers there during our visit. Ambience is quiet, great for conversations. We'll definitely be back, and highly recommend.
Always great prime rib, bring it right to you. You decide what cut you want and how you want it done. House horseradish plain or creamy.
Mashed potatoes, asparagus, and /or creamed corn.
Or you can order off the menu, choice of beef, seafood, scalloped potatoes, and seasonal choices.
Famous "spinning salad and house dressing"
Many wine choices or bar drinks, soda, or teas.
Christmas holiday after Thanksgiving groups come in to do Christmas carols, move from room to room, they do take orders if you have something you want to hear.
Everyone friendly, helpful.
It has been 15 years since we visited Lawry's and I forgot how great that prime rib tasted.
We often dine downtown at many great new and established restaurants and we will definitely make Lawry's a more frequent visit for a great predicable meal served by a top staff.
This was a special event since my guests had flown in from Shanghai, China and Naples, FL and another drove 8 hours from Toronto, Canada to be together for perhaps the last time. I had hired these great people some 35 years ago and brought them with me to different professional business engagements throughout our business careers. I chose Lawry's because I had a similar gathering about 20 years ago with business clients. At that time, I was most impressed with the ambiance, food and service. This time was no different. The meal started with freshly sliced sourdough bread, a "spinning" bowl salad prepared table-side that was to die for. We all chose different cuts of Prime Rib and whether rare or medium, they were perfect. They were served on hot plates with exceptional sides of mashed potatoes with gravy, yorkshire pudding creamed corn and green peas and complemented by a bottle of Stag's Leap Merlot....(chosen from an extensive Wine List).
We were also very impressed with the Server who waited on us . Ms. Parent had several tables she was waiting on but did not miss a beat with us. We asked how long she had been with Lawry's because she was so good at what she was doing. She made the evening that much more special.
Lastly, the Christmas Carolers brought us all into the spirit of the Season after several years of feeling guilty of saying Merry Christmas.....
So, to Ms. Parent and the Staff of Lawry's Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!!!!!!
Everything was excellent except Ismaiel who took our coats and he put them in a very vad way inside the room and also i asked him how much do u want he said whatever u want i gave him 2 $ as those were the only change i had , he make fun of them , this makes make really unhappy
Food was great service was good up to a point. After we were served our prime rib we had to wait on our sauteed mushrooms that she had forgot to order. She bought the bread pudding out at that time as well. After we finished our meal we had to wait over 30 minutes for check just sitting there with nothing to do. And once we got our check she had forgotten to split it as we had asked
I’ve been to Lawry’s several times and sadly, this visit just did not live up to our usual expectation. We came for my moms 54th birthday. Just getting water to our table was quite a wait and the gentleman ended up pouring from really high and splashing a lot when he filled each glass. It was very odd almost to a comical standpoint. My husband, mother, and stepfather all got the Lawrys cut of prime rib and the carver did not even come to our table which was also a disappointment, but came to a table next to ours that was sat shortly after us. My mother’s piece was huge, while my husband was served a piece that was primarily bone, all 3 of them agreed. So that part of the experience was also disappointing. Just overall was not the service or meal experience that we expected for $250 while also tipping the waitress $50. The carolers were the highlight of the evening hands down. Lawrys really is a place that that you go to for that one of a kind Lawrys experience and it just didn’t meet he mark today.
