Más fama que buen lugar, mala la calidad de los alimentos y costo excesivo, hay mucho mejores lugares donde comer que este.
Ms.Rodgers was a fantastic server.
Great dining experience. Will definitely be back.
The finest prime rib in the U.S. the restaurant itself is beautiful. When it’s upscale dining in Chicago your looking for, there is no better place then Lawry’s.
They had a problem with our table, however they were very considerate and gave us each a free glass of wine while they fixed the seating issue. Great attention to detail, and if u want great prime rib, why go elsewhere?
Lawry's is a dependable value restaurant. The food is consistent and delicious with melt in your mouth prime rib! It's actually a refreshing change from the trendy nouveau restaurants and guaranteed a great meal.
We had a friend in from out of town. It was a great visit to a Chicago classic. Like dinner with a show.
I found this place on a few sites and it was very near where I was staying on the Mag Mile. All in all, it was a nice meal. The prime rib was good, but not great. The sides were a bit bland, but the salad was very good. The au jus was more a brown gravy, but the horseradish options were great. Nice ambiance taking you back to old Chicago but the service, in general, was a bit lack-luster. Most didn't seem to want to be there, which is always a disappointment when you're spending good money on a meal. I was by myself on this visit but would give this place another try with my family and friends when in Chicago again and hope the moral issues have been worked out.
Excelent! The service was outstanding. Meat amazing e sides were perfect.
Another wonderful meal at Lawry’s . Mr. Rice was an exceptional server. Friendly, knowledgeable, shared a couple of tidbits of information I hadn’t heard before- Mainly around the salt that I’ve used for decades and the pepper. A little bit of a history lesson is always good with a fine piece of prime rib.
Truly enjoyable experience
Suprised my wife for her birthday. She loves prime rib and this place was excellent. Ms. Rivtka was the best table service.
It was great!!!
We were seated quickly and right at reservation. However, we were seated at the only table in the middle of the center area so carving station could not come to us which was very disappointing and the only reason we went. Our waitress did not come to our table for 12 minutes after being seated and I had to speak to the water busboy to get our waitress and he had to ask the hostess to do it because he didn’t know. The waitress repeated a question to us on three occasions trying to make small talk with us. The carver did not even come to the table to find out how I wanted prime rib cooked. The food and ambiance were spectacular but do not make up for the poor service. And to end the night, we received the wrong bill and had to ask our waitress to get the correct one. Now I have two charges on my credit card that I have to wait to clear and find out if they actually charged me twice. I won’t go back and won’t recommend others go there.
Great food, the best prime rib. Pricey but really good
Excellent as usual
We spent Easter dinner at Lawry's. Our server, Ms. Dimova was excellent. She told us the history of the restaurant / building, as well as many other interesting facts about Chicago. The food was excellent.
Fantastic easter dinner / lunch service. Prime rib was perfectly done and crab cake was excellent. Service was very detail oriented and took care of us
Thank you Lawry’s and Ms. Rodger’s for an uplifting and delightful dinner. We all left satiated and looking for another special occasion to visit again.
Wonderful time. The staff was proud and knowledgeable. That was very impressive. The prime rib was outstanding and perfect.
We had to wait a few minutes for our table, so we enjoyed a nice cocktail at the bar. Service there was somewhat haphazard - maybe the bartender was overwhelmed? No one asked us if we wanted a drink... we had to seek someone out to help us even though there was not a large crowd. Then my husband had to spend a rather long time trying to get someone to settle the tab when our table was ready - seemed a bit disorganized, but maybe we hit a night when they were short-handed or something? Food is always excellent. This is not a place for a quick bite... service is good but not quick. The mansion surroundings are to be savored as much as the food... plan to take your time to enjoy the Lawry's experience... we always come back!
The food was great. The service by the people that serve you was very good, especially Allen aka "Lawrys Big Daddy".
The only thing that was a "little" annoying was my reservation was at 5pm and i got there at 4:30 and was told they call you at the exact time of your reservation, so se went to the bar. This was fine because thats what im use to at a steakhouse, but 5:20/5:30 ish came and had not came and got me and my party. So we had to go and remind the host of his words, and it wasnt crowded yet. That needs work, but other than that it was fine. I will return.
As long-time patrons at Lawrys, we have enjoyed good food and the good service. Unfortunately tonight our luck ran out. While we asked for our favorite server who we have known for a long, long time who was serving right next to our table, we were told by the host that you can wave to her but your server is xxxx. And there you have it. I won't list the failures, but I will say, if you buy a $122 bottle of wine, one would expect that the server would pour every glass. If not, why leave a tip on it. Tells you how often she came to our table.
Mary Dearson our server was pleasant and went above and beyond to serve my mom and I. I'Ve been a vip member for quite some time now and will be back very soon after tonight's service. Ed the concierge was also very courteous as well.
My husband brought me here for the first time on my birthday when we were dating. Was amazing in 2002 and is still amazing when we brought our 11 year old for his first time. My only very minor complaint was the creamed spinach tasted like creamed onions. The prime rib and service was excellent as always.
My family has been going here for over 39 years. We consistently have annamIng meal in a beautifully detailed old mansion. It’s such a treat and always fun to try the new appetizers they change seasonally.
Painfully slow service. The entire meal, from appetizer to dessert was a three hour experience. The food was outstanding, but no bargain either. I had the “Beef Bowl” cut of prime rib. Although I haven’t been to Lawry’s recently, I was surprised that this, their largest cut, was so small. When I expressed surprise I was told that it is now 22 ounces with the bone. For $64, that’s expensive especially when competition a few blocks away serves 32 ounces for $58 which is every bit as good with respect to quality.
The service was very good and the food was good. The California cut prime rib was tasty but a little tough. The requested rare was appropriate. The mash potatoes were very good and the spin salad was also very good. The ambiance of the rooms was excellent and the actual meat service was excellent.
Fabulous food, fabulous service. An oldie but goodie!
Great food great service
Lawry's has the best prime rib. This is the place we go for prime rib
Excellent food. Great service.
Meat was great.
Fun atmosphere with great service. Love the spin salad and having the chef
prepare your prime rib right at the table.
Wonderful! The serving staff, carver and general manager were amazing. Always checking in and making sure we were satisfied and taken care of. The amount of food that you recieve is plentiful, and you will not walk away hungry. Such a great experience, and I would definitely recommend having dinner at Lawry’s for any occasion!
Our meal was the BEST we have ever had here. Ms Parent who was our waitress was absolutely outstanding! Can't wait to go back!
Very Easy to complete SAME DAY Reservation! Lawry's staff were very inviting and made this birthday experience for my sister one she'll never forget. This was her first time. We were treated to great service by all. From Valet service to the front greeters to the tableside service. Even a manager came to serve the chilled salad forks and again to clear plates from our table. The Food was plentiful and delicious! I could only ask that Lawry's return the Strawberry Dessert from nine years ago then, I would be in heaven. My sister and I are not Chocolate Lovers. The free Birthday Chocolate Bundt lava cake with mint topping was graciously welcomed but enjoyed by her husband at home. I will return and maybe bring my brother-in-law;)
The restaurant side is amazing, the waiter (“Mr. Rice”) was really nice, and the steaks, lobster, and corn/spinach blend recommended by our waiter were absolutely delicious.
The lounge side is a disaster. Avoid ordering there. While waiting for our table, we waited at least 15 minutes for cocktail menus in the lounge. A waiter finally arrived with menus and we ordered. At least 15 minutes later, she returned with one wrong drink (beer instead of a cocktail) and one correct one. Before we could stop her she immediately took our credit card and went into the kitchen. We quickly tried to call her back unsuccessfully. Meanwhile our table was ready. Finally another waiter returned with a credit card receipt and tried to tell us the beer was correct. When we showed him it was a cocktail on the menu, he stormed off and said he’d talk to a manager. Finally they returned our credit card and we went to our dinner table. Later the initial waitress showed up at our dinner and demanded our credit card to charge us for the one drink that was correct (after apparently voiding the first credit card charge). Very complicated process to get a drink, with very rude and slow wait staff in the lounge. The bottom line is, if you have to wait for a table, wait somewhere else.
The food was great, as always. But it seems the server Noel had no interest in us. No drink refills, errors on the order and the worst of all - never coming to see how we are doing.
I have been dinning at this location since 1972.
The last several years the quality of the prime rib being served has been slowly going down.
This visit our reservation was early, at 6:00pm, dinning room was not busy at all. Was trying to have a nice visit with my daughter whom I see only several times a year.
Our server seemed to be in a hurry with waiting on our table, yet she only had 1 other table that she was serving. On several occasions she made a point in interupting our conversation with asking us questions that could have waited a minute. She had to stop me mid-sentence wanting to know if anyone wanted to have their prime rib med-well or well done. I would have acknowledged her as soon as done with my sentence, wouldn't have made her wait.
Then again, we are talking and she brings the spinning salad, never asked if we wanted all the items in the salad, which we didn't. She made a point in showing me her displeasure in having to get another salad.
Had to ask her several times for extra creamy horseradish.
I treated her with respect during the rest of our dinner but I was very upset with her service, ruined my experience.
You would expect better customer interaction when knowing the customer is going to spend $300.00 or more for a party of 3.
Even with her knowing I'm a VIP customer she treated me as if she was doing me a favor.
Next visit I'm going to look at another steakhouse in Chicago, plenty of them to choose from.
The meal and everything certainly lived up to their name and reputation.
