Probably the best all around dining experience i’ve had in MANY years.
I still think my choice of Lawry's to celebrate my wife's birthday was correct. She enjoyed not only food but also service provided by your staff. Thank you so much!
We had an excellent time at Lawry's! Everything was wonderful!
The Food was outstanding and our server was awesome! We wanted an old school dining experience and it was amazing! Thank you
This was not a good experience, especially since we've dined here numerous times before. The service was very slow. We observed a couple being seated, then waiting quite some time for the server, then waiting quite some time for drinks they ordered, which had not arrived before they decided to make their departure. Our salmon was overcooked, and the prime rib end piece, ordered by my wife for well done, was under cooked. We ordered creamed spinach and corn, in addition to the mash potatoes which come with the prime rib meal. They were all placed on one plate which made them blend together into one compilation of soupiness. We are also not fond on the secondary room, which lacks any ambiance, and will request not to be seated there again. However, having experienced many fine dining times here, and even at the Las Vegas location, we will return in the future. It just happens to be my wife's favorite dining establishment.
Service was exceptional as usual. Meal was nothing short of perfection.
Anniversary - 19th Years of Marriage
Ms. Hodges is the best waitress ever. Made me feel right at home and I will be coming back. Of course requesting Ms. Hodges :)
We try to eat at Lawry’s Each time we visit Chicago. The food is quite simply delicious. The atmosphere is always lovely and the staff is friendly and helpful. If you like prime rib - this is the place to eat.
From the moment you walk through the entry doors you know this is going to be a special experience. The splendor and grandeur of the old mansion that has housed Lawry’s for the last 75 years or so puts you in a better mood. The service from the coat check to the table side carving was over the top. Muereen was our server and she brought us up to speed on the history as this was our first visit. The prime rib was extremely lean, wonderfully prepared and bursting with flavor. I recommend the potatoe vodka martini garnished with a blue cheese and prime rib stuffed olive.
Can’t wait to go back to savor every bite!
Love the traditional, clubby atmosphere with dim lighting, lavish textiles and heavy wood accents. The service is just superb (Ms. Garcia was fabulous!). It is a production to order the prime rib and one well worth enjoying. The food is amazing - great salad dressing, cut to order prime rib cooked perfectly, fresh mashed potatoes and the yorkshire pudding. Better than a traditional steak!
Ms. Rogers was the best server one could ask for.
Food was as good as always.
We had a great dining experience...once again.
Lawrys made my big brother's Richie 50th birthday dinner a special celebration. He was very impressed.
Valentine’s Day was amazing
We’ve been coming to Lawry’s for years now but this was the first time we’ve had horrible service. Our waitress seemed like she didn’t want to be there that night and even though the dining room wasn’t packed, she would disappear from the table for 20-25 minutes at a time. The prime rib was great as always but our crab cakes and scallops were like warm, likely because she didn’t grab them in time. Disappointing with the amount of money we spend each time.
They didn’t offer any birthday celebration service for birthday dinner registration, and they didn’t split charges equally even we mentioned to do so, which caused confusions of checkout.
We wanted a nice quiet diining experience with great food, nice wine and wait service! We got everything we expected and more! The Prine rib was outstanding and carved right at our table! Highly recommend this restaurant if in Chicago!
Sadly, this time around our experience left something to be desired. We generally dine at Lawry’s several times per year, and the experience is usually terrific. Although the food was wonderful as usual, the service was disappointing. It appeared that they did not schedule enough staff to adequately serve the patrons, as I counted only two individuals waiting on a large table of about 20, plus another dozen or so smaller tables. While we received our drinks immediately, we then proceeded to wait for about 20 minutes for our waitress to return to take our order, and then another 20 minutes before we received our salads. And on the evening dragged for nearly 3 hours before we finally finished up. A disappointment from a restaurant that usually does better.
Loved the meal & we love coming here. The only slightly disappointing component was for the price point I would have liked my server to have been more attentive. It was not a result of her but a result of management and having too many tables assigned to each server.
Ms. Johnson was stellar in service and delighted us all evening. The chef came by with the wonderful prime rib silver oven platter and spent time laughing and having a fun time while ensuring our dinner was fabulous. Thank you!
Birthday Dinner! It was beautiful and great service!
As always - the best prime rib in town with an extensive and excellent wine selection.
Overall a very good experience. They were nice enough to hold our table when we were running late and sat us promptly upon arrival. They displayed a very nice Congratulations banner on our table for our anniversary. The English cut was supposed to be thin sliced prime rib for a lighter appetite, but should not be fatty in my opinion. This, along with The fact we had to wait for a couple of things and re-do some meat, dropped the rating slightly.
We would go back again.
Excellent food and service. First time customer. My party and I enjoyed our meal and plan on making a trip back sometime in the future.
Had a wonderful evening to celebrate a special birthday. Lawry’s never disappoints, the staff and food were outstanding! Looking forward to going back
Excellent food and best staff. The steaks are delicious and cream of corn was yum.
I had an excellent birthday dinner at Lawry's. I went to treat myself, so I was prepared for the higher price and would absolutely be back. I ordered the Lawry cut and mashed potatoes. The prime rib was delicious and well seasoned. The presentation of the meal was fantastic as well and I had a great waitress in "Ms. Farmer". 5/5
My dining service was amazing. It was my financ'e birthday, our first time dining at Larwy's. The congratulation ribbon was perfect! The prime rib and service was outstanding! Ms. Rosales who served us was great! I would definitely recommend and dine again soon.
We love to come here for special occasions . The dining room is beautiful and the food is amazing. The service was excellent and our waiter made it really nice for the birthday guest. We always look forward to the spinning bowl salad, the Yorkshire pudding, and a side order of creamed corn and creamed spinach to go with our Lawry cut. It is always a great experience.
Been going to Lawrys in Chicago for over 20 years, always great food and great experience.
I took my guy to Lawry’s during restaurant week and the waiter was extremely nonchalant. I had to ask for refills of water and bread. We were served the bottom of steak which was burnt and bone dry. My bill was a whopping $180 and did I mention they dumped our leftovers in one container like slop. I would not recommend Lawry’s to anyone. Foodies beware!
It’s very good steak. Always filling. Always reliable. The salad is excellent. The Yorkshire pudding perfect. The place feels a little like an upscale theme park cafeteria. But the food is never disappointing.
Went for restaurant week for an extra $6 we got a lobster tail and dessert. Great prime rib!
This restaurant is always worth the trip. The food & service are phenomenal. Best steakhouse is Chicago.
Really fun dining experience that was quite unlike anything else I’ve had, loved the atmosphere
This was my group’s first time at Lawry’s. We were put off by its old-fashioned approach to dining. For example, there were only women waiters. And all front of house staff wore uniforms that had slight “Uncle Tom” undertones.
The food was good. No question. But, the service was very slow. It took 2 hours and 45 minutes to get through 3 courses. Other tables had arrived after us and completed their meals well before we were served dessert.
Excellent meal in an old-school atmosphere. Will be back!!
I loved everything about this restaurant. Our waiter was fabulous. The food spectacular. Great choice for restaurant week. Will definitely go back to eat
My birthday. Our valentines day. My prom. Kinda tells you how much i still dig this place and its staff decades after my first visit in the early eighties.
Keep it up!
The prime rib was outstanding. The salad dressing had a strange flavor. They called it French but it didn't taste like it to me. The mashed potatoes were just potatoes. They really need to update the sides, or offer some variety. I bet that menu hasn't changed since Day 1. The service matches the lack of imagination in the menu. Those old ladies would never be able to handle it. The uniforms atrocious.
