Brunch was delicious and the service was stellar in a beautiful setting. Next time we’re in San Francisco we’ll be certain to dine here again.
I made reservations for my girlfriends birthday last night and did not receive any service other than drinks. We waited one hour to have our dinner order taken and we Ended up going back to our room and ordering Chinese food takeout. Birthday dinner ruined.
Came for Mother’s Day afternoon tea. My first time at the sf fairmont for tea. I have been to the lake Louise chateau in Canada and really enjoyed the experience. I will say the food did not meet my expectations. And with a 1k Bill I would imagine the food to be of better quality. I’m not sure if it’s a problem with the kitchen at the sf fairmont but I had the same issue a few years ago when I went to their Tonga room. The place is beautiful, service was good, the food is lacking.
Very enjoyable and nice
We love the laurel court and especially the piano player.
Okay but not worth the money. Good was fair, service was fair. There for the historic setting only.
Food & Service was very good. We are not big eaters, so we were able to share the Mediterranean Salad & the Burger.
Great venue, fourth time for dinner
Enjoyed a champagne brunch. Beautiful atmosphere and incredibly attentive service in an exquisite old hotel.
Great location with amazing ambience. The menu was a bit different and not as fabulous as in the past. But all and all, it is a great dining experience.
The desserts weren’t anything to write home about but the sandwiches and scones were amazing!
This was our third or fourth time at high tea, lovely as always!
We tried hard to like this restaurant, but the service and the food were lacking. We waited 55 minutes to be served food that was lackluster and unseasoned. Our server asked if everything was okay, but walked away while we were saying that it wasn't. The setting is charming in its old-school way, but the menu could use a real upgrade, as could the level of service.
I generally LOVE the Fairmont Hotels in all my travels however this restaurant does not come close to the standard that the Fairmont brand upholds.
Feedback for the senior management team on this restaurant:
-Outdated decor in restaurant despite it’s opulence. The decor just feels dreary and tired and does not feel pleasant to dine nor lounge in.
-the breakfast buffet was nothing special at all with little variety and creativity, lack of interesting culinary options, nothing gourmet nor modern at all, just really fell flat, there are many better choices out there for luxury dining experiences. This buffet overall was absolutely not great value for what we received and money is not an issue for me, but I also respect my money and don’t like wasting it.
- our server was extremely attentive and took very good care of our needs. That said, staff just generally didn’t seem to enjoy their jobs. Rarely did anyone ever crack a smile nor seem happy to be working and serving.
- the overall dining experience was just such a let down especially given that I know what the Fairmont brand name can and usually does deliver in most other cities age locations internationally.
I NEVER write reviews and I’m known to be I’m a VERY positive individual. I am sharing this with you because I love and care about the Fairmont brand and on the off-chance this feedback reaches the right motivated senior manager who equally admires the Fairmont, that it might make a difference in some way.
I hope you receive this feedback in the positive spirit with which it is intended.

We liked the layout of the restaurant, got a nice table, had a very friendly and attentive server, and liked the food.
Waiter had perfect timing for taking order and pouring our wine.
We enjoyed our afternoon tea, service was excellent. Only negative was it was cold in the restaurant. I had to keep my coat on during lunch .
The breakfast buffet is wonderful. Everything is of the highest quality.
A good value considering the quality and plentiful selection.
Food was excellent. Nice to be accommodated. We had a light meal.
I love a good high tea, and The Fairmont hosts one of my favorites in The City. A delicious selection of teas and treats served in a gorgeous room. It's reasonably priced compared to many of the other tea houses nearby. Highly recommend!
Though some of our experiences could've been smoother had our host presented some guidance, I can't blame anybody as I forgot to tell the host that we'd be redeeming the voucher! Overall great experience :-D
Have you noticed that when a restaurant is slow and eventhough there is an abundance of staff the service is slow? It was that last night. We just arrived from the east and had an early, 6pm, dinner. We flagged down a server.
The restaurant got busy and service appeared to be better. I didn't care for the corn flake crusted Branzino either.
Disappointing. Wouldn’t have dinner here again.
We loved the building, the ambience and the piano music (that was the reason why we picked this location) but the menu (variety) was disappointing! We expected a bit fancier food due to the fancy location!
It was my birthday dinner and I was looking forward to more than fried stuff, burger, etc and s’mores for dessert on the menu!
Well and a dress code would be nice too for some people... .. I’m not used to go in a sweater and sneakers to have dinner at a pretty location!
The service was great though!
We went to Laurel Court for Afternoon Tea on a Sunday. We had a reservation but they didn't seem to be full. The setting is spectacular. We thought the food was just OK for the price. Scones were our favorite. The service was OK, not great.
I wanted to love this place for Afternoon Tea, British style but the food was terrible and subpar. Perhaps I’ve been spoiled by the “REAL” experience of British High Tea, by frequenting Lovejoys Tea room in the Noe Valley area, where the food is actually DELICIOUS and the finger tea sandwiches are authentic, and you can CHOOSE what you want from a variety of extraordinarily delicious sandwiches. Very disappointed in the dry, blah, pretty flavourless sandwiches served at Laurel Court. The scones were dry, served cold, and were miniature in size, which actually didn’t matter, because after the first bite, we didn’t want a second taste. The desserts were uninspired. Everything they served at Afternoon Tea was pretty gross, when you’re used how delicious it can and should be. The best thing I can say about this place is that the service was top notch and the ambience delightful, the place itself is gorgeous. But don’t go the food- their Afternoon Tea is disgusting.
This was a wonderful evening - perfect in every way! Excellent service, food and atmosphere - can be casual or semi-formal - you decide!
Love going for some high tea
Attentive service and delicious, visually pleasing dishes.
We found the restaurant to be a little chilly. Which in turn made our food not as hot as it should have been. We were really looking forward to the crab scramble. When we ordered the server told us they were out of crab. This probably should have been mentioned when he approached our table. One in our party had the short rib hash which was on the cool side. We also had the chorizo hash which was a little heavy on the chorizo. We also had the car continental breakfast. Nice selection. Overall, it was nice to try once.
Painfully slow service. Average food. Took ages to get waiter's attention. Took ages to get food. Pretty sure the wine we got wasn't what we ordered - spirit was broken by this point so couldn't be bothered to quibble.
1. I indicated on the OT booking this was an Anniversary. I called to let them know we were running late. Left a detailed VM with my no. No one called back so we assumed we were OK.
2. Hostess had cancelled our reservation but seated us anyway. She had not even checked her messages.
3. Informed the waiter we were attending a show. He was very pleasant but took ages to get two drinks tho' he came and apologized.
4. Dinner took even longer ~ 1/2 an hour for two starters for me and a burger for my husband! No mention of anniversary. Tuna tartare was decent but could have used more seasoning on top. Baby gem salad was not grilled as stated but dressing was pleasant. Burger was fine came really late.
5. Highpoint was the wonderful pianist who played many of our favorites.
6. Felt like we were in the food court of a shopping mall rather than the signature restaurant of a grand old hotel ... So disappointed for our City and ourselves...
We were scheduled for a 7 PM reservation for seven people. Some of us didn’t arrive till 745. By the time we ordered and ate it was probably close to eight 8:45. Our server was amazingly patient and gracious making our evening extra special. Would highly recommend dining here!!
This was very disappointing. The restaurant was not busy but we had to wait over half an hour for food to be delivered. Waiters were not attentive. Hamburgers were not as ordered and overpriced at $24.00.
The service was a bit slow and not totally attentive to the table. But overall it was good and would go again.
Went for their breakfast buffet. Food was pretty good, especially their Pecan cinnamon roll. Our server was very attentive. But ambience was lacking and the price for the buffet and mimosa were too steep. For 5 people we spent $300 for breakfast. We thought the breakfast Buffet at the Palace was better, both in the variety of food they served and the ambiance. Not sure if we’ll be back for the buffet.
I visited several times in my three days staying at the Fairmont including for lunch and meetings. The tuna tartare is especially good as is their smores dessert!
Very disappointed that the food would have been so average in a hotel of this reputation. Can't see a single reason to return.
The restaurant seemed to be down waiter staff this particular brunch. There were no spoons on the table and it did take a long time to get in a drinks order. My friend arrived late, coming from Marin COUNTY during the fire season, and I think the wait staff may have assumed I wanted to wait to put in a drinks order until he arrived. I am unsure why no spoons are part of the table setting and I had to ask staff closer to the buffet area for spoons.
I was assaulted on my way to the restaurant, crossing Powell and Sacramento. Inadvertent, but I needed an ice pack. Despite 3 staff asking for someone to bring me one, no ice pack ever appeared. The barman did eventually provide me with ice, but I had to go to the bar to obtain that.
However, the food and the ambiance at Laurel Court is wonderful. And, the buffet, particularly the made-to-order omelets are fantastic. We will come back some Sunday once the Ginger Bread goes up in December.
