We headed to the city for the evening - dinner, enjoy the Christmas decorations and then ice skating. We were disappointed by the service - and I’m going to chalk it up to the fact that mat been short on staff. It took a while before our server even approached us and we finally got some water. Our first round of cocktails came out in a timely manner. Our food trickled out slowly (at different times) and our server never came back again - never checked on us, nothing. We flagged down another person to get us more water. We finally got the server’s attention and got our check. Sadly, I don’t think we would dine here again.

Very disappointing holiday tea this year. Waiters looked confused like they had no knowledge about the event or what it was like in the past. It felt stuffy, the sandwiches were packed with sugar and mayo. There was minimal kid entertainment this year, it just felt really depressing in there to be honest. Bring back the holiday cheer!

Go for the beautiful lobby and holiday decor. Don’t expect much from the food. Our waiter was kind but spread thin— only one person working the whole restaurant. The drinks were fine, and the Brussels sprouts were pretty good, though a bit salty. They came quickly and we devoured them because we were so hungry. The main courses were disappointing. Steak was very fatty, over cooked and came out room temp. Frites also came out room temp. Rigatoni dish was hot— plate too, so we assume it had been reheated very recently, perhaps in a microwave. The pesto flavor was good but was overwhelmed by the garlic and other odd flavors in the dish. Pasta itself was too thick and chewy. Remember it is also a hotel lobby, so a bit noisy and hectic. The table next to us also had a small dog they allowed to sit at and eat from the table— not great given our allergies and general sanitation concerns. I would not recommend dinner here— probably better off with high tea.

Jun was an excellent, knowledgeable server. The brunch menu was suitable for all palates. We love the sophisticated atmosphere of the Laurel room. We also love the annual Christmas decorations.

Very poor service and certainly not expected at a Fairmont property. Very disappointed as a resident of San Francisco and certainly not a good experience for visitors. Food was adequate but not up to standard for a premier facility.

Outstanding food & beverage program, exceptional ambiance, and a friendly professional staff that took really great care of us. The Chef even came out to say hello! It's a special treat to dine in this iconic restaurant full of San Francisco history, and the Charlotte's Home Sauvignon Blanc by the glass is an incredible selection. Looking forward to my next visit!

Such a beautiful and special way to celebrate a birthday! We had the best time. Each bite was an experience in and of itself. Staff was attentive and friendly. To top if off the piano player was wonderful and created a magical ambience.

The Fairmont name has always evokes the mindset of old world class and excellence. I had not been there in years, so I was excited to celebrate my sister's 73rd birthday there. The valet service was superb. However, our experience at High Tea was anything but that. Our server Fermin was very attentive, but he could not compensate for the awful selection of bites we were served. I will make this short but certainly not sweet. The selections had little to no flavor, and quite honestly, they could have easily been left-overs from the day before. The quality was worst than you would expect from a storefront Tea house. Not at all worth the price, and I will never return for High Tea or any other meal. Such a disappointment!

This is one of the worst dining experiences I’ve had in San Francisco. Patronizing waiter, stale food and terribly over priced for dull and uninspiring environment. We had a gift certificate that should have covered 2 guests for tea and we still had to pay an additional $100!

This was a beautiful experience and the service was exceptional. I definitely would recommend this to anyone interested in attending afternoon high tea at the Fairmont. Shout out to our waiter Jung who was just at the top of his game and made this event very special for us.

Absolutely wonderful afternoon tea, with many tea options, creative sandwiches and pastries, the most delicious buttermilk biscuits I have had in my entire life, and fantastic ambient live piano. They also had an alternate vegetarian plan ready. They really went the extra mile to make our daughter's 18th birthday special. Thank you - we will be back!

So disappointed. I’ve had many high teas— in US and UK- and this was one of the worst. Server talked down to us, and insisted on giving a std monologue— even when we explained we already know how to eat scones etc. Food was v poor quality. I’d say it’s mostly a tourist trap— there are many better options in SF. S

Very nice surroundings, but I have to say that the food served specially the appetizers (never have seen a miniature open sandwich being served in an afternoon tea before )were ok, but for the amount of money paid it was disappointing. Other than that, everything was fine.

Went for the Tea brunch. The dining room is on the ground floor with no windows so a bit on the ‘darker’ side. It took a while to be greeted and we even left to ask concierge where to go to be seated. Once seated, the staff was on point at all times. I didn’t care for the flavors of finger sandwiches (food was dry) or the desserts but the presentation was beautiful. The tea was the best in flavor and the champagne was very good. The pianist played very well but a bit loud so hard to hear and have conversation. We won’t return for tea but we will return for dinner and see how that goes. The hotel is beautiful and all staff were friendly as we walked through the hotel.

Beautiful dining room with good drinks and excellent service. The menu was limited. Appetizers (sprouts and calamari) were good but not extraordinary. My main meal was not that good. Pasta was sitting in oil and and had no exceptional flavor. The chicken was very good but, again, a bit Ho hum. I felt the price a bit high for the lackluster food.

Our experience at the fairmont restaurant was way below our expectations! What we thought was a luxury and quite expensive dinner, was brought down due to a mouse running around inside the restaurant! It came over to our table and almost jumped on to my husband ( who's birthday it was) What an birthday gift! Not even on the streets of Thailand have I has a mouse jumping me when eating!!

Afternoon tea here is very bad. Everyone said the food was bad, but I'm pretty easy-going and just wanted the ambiance anyway. But first, the tea wouldn't pour because the leaves were clogging the pot, and when it did, it made a big mess. The 4 "sandwiches" are almost nothing; each "sandwich" is just a single 1-inch piece of bread with a dollop of something bland. And the 4 sweets were like a weird mish-mash of whatever was lying around (a stale pina colada macaron and a pumpkin spice mini muffin). But what really ruined it for me is this... you know how all "high tea" or "afternoon tea" involves a 3-tiered tray full of food? How that's kind of its whole thing? That and taking your time, relaxing? Well the moment my top tier was empty, a lady came over (not my server, who was very attentive and sweet, but someone else) and she took my tiered tray away! She consolidated the remaining 2 tiers onto one plate, so I just had one horrible-looking plate with a "sandwich" upside-down on it. That was 25 minutes into my $115/person tea. Anyway, I left pretty bummed.
