LaSalle Grill, a modern American Bistro featuring steaks and chops cooked over a live hardwood fire, is born of the dream of experienced restaurateur Mark McDonnell. Like the restaurant’s namesake, noted French explorer, Robert de LaSalle, McDonnell set out to explore the uncharted waters of downtown South Bend, Indiana. In April of 1991, McDonnell opened a lively and exciting restaurant unlike any other in the area - LaSalle Grill.

    Steaks were warm at best. Ordered medium well and came medium rare. Sent back and it was resolved. Caesar salad and wedge salad had very LITTLE dressing. Food was not hot and not the best representation for LaSalle Grill. Never had an experience like this before at LaSalle Grill. Hope it was just an “off” night.

    Beautiful, well-conceived and constructed plates. The noise level at 6-8 pm severely detracted from my wife's and my holiday celebration together. "Energetic" hardly describes the fact that we could not hear each other across our table for two, away in a corner (which Jennifer thoughtful selected for us), we had to leave early and go elsewhere for dessert due to the headache-level noise (- mostly issuing from one large table in the center). The long interval between courses did not help but we may have partially caused this as we order two Starters at separate times. Disappointing, but we've learned not to return again unless we arrive at 5. Keep up the art on the cuisine, however. I would recommend to friends - with caution.

    Food was excellent. The only downer was they are now charging $9 for what they refer to as a bread plate. I had the Amish chicken and there was more than enough to fill most anyone.

    Food was excellent. My Wife had sea bass. I had a strip steak. Both were excellent. I had clam chowder and my Wife had a small Caesar salad. Both were excellent. The service was outstanding. The manager came by to ask if he could get anything. Our waitress was terrific.

    It was a phenomenal dinner experience, the servers were polite and experienced, the sommelier was so knowledgeable and helpful and the kitchen staff turned out a brilliant meal.

    Our wait staff was very attentive and she was well versed in the menu and options. She guided us through the meal perfectly and helped us make good choices! Wedge salad yummy, the Amish chicken was moist and well prepared and the mashed potatoes were so tasty ! All steaks were perfectly prepared but perhaps too many tobacco onions on top. The desserts were also a delight ant the bourbon bread pudding was amazing!❤️. Only regret is I can’t remember the name of waitress and she was excellent !

    Celebrated a birthday when we were in town on college tour. LaSalle customized menu with my wife's name at top wishing her a happy birthday and put candle in her dessert. Food was fantastic and service was just as great! Would highly recommend and will return on next visit to South Bend.

    Enjoyed such a great meal before the show at the Morris last night. Our steaks were cooked perfectly and salads were delicious. We really need to get here more often!

    The food was very good. Unfortunately our guests meat order was mixed up. The New York strip was suppose to be medium rare and it came medium well. The filet was to be medium but came out rare. The couple switched steaks - they did not report the problem. Also, the carrots were a little too aldante. Others had steaks and pork chops which were excellent. Though very busy and loud because of a performance at the local theatre, service was superb.

    This was our first time going to Lasalle grill and what a great experience it was. The LaSalle Grill is right around the corner from the Morris Theater where we were going to see a show. We were greeted immediately with a smile and promptly seated. Our waitress was excellent throughout the entire visit. We ordered a couple cocktails and they were mixed perfectly. The wedge salad with the warm Gorgonzola dressing is fantastic. We both ordered the golden Angus New York strip steaks from Lintz beef farms and as usual the meat was delicious and cooked to perfection. We split a cheesecake for dessert as well. All the food was above any expectation that we had and we couldn’t have asked for better service. The environment was fun and the whole staff had a smile on their face and in my opinion that made the experience that much more enjoyable.

    Are you bored with the different menu same old food scenario? Look no further. The LaSalle Grill menu offers great variety in how the fish, pork, steak were all prepared. Excellent selection of wines. Well trained staff in pairing food and wines. Staff pays attention to the fine details from A-Z. Look forward to returning to the LaSalle Grill when in South Bend again soon.

    Wonderful bistro-like lively atmosphere. Outstanding cuisine. Had crab cake appetizer - spectacular interpretation. Nice wine list. Just steps from the Morris Performing Arts Center and Ground Zero for downtown South Bend events and attractions. Perfect spot with personable, knowledgeable servers and a TALENTED kitchen.

    The food was amazing, service was slow, the waiter paid more attention to a party of 4 and barely stopped by to check up on us. The noise level was so loud it was hard to hear and had to almost yell to have a conversation.

    We were very disappointed with our experience . We had a 5:00 o’clock reservation which should have been enough time for a 7:00 show . We ordered fairly quickly and at 6:10 we inquired about our main course and the waitress was very apologetic and stated the kitchen was running behind and assured us the food would be out shortly and dessert would be free because of the delay . The main courses took 15-20 minutes to be served and in the mean while my husband talked to a manager who was not apologetic and actually rude who also said the food would be out shortly . When the meal came we asked for our check , had to rush to finish to make our show at 7 and couldn’t appreciate the dessert offer and no discount was given on the check .. sadly the food was good but this experience especially for the cost caused me to write this review . All four of us will not return

    Our husband and I celebrated our 20th anniversary at Lasalle Grill and we could not have picked a better restaurant. The staff went above and beyond to make our dinner special from the monogrammed menus to the wonderful table to the personal visit from the manager. Our waitress was amazing, and the food was outstanding. We would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone wanting an outstanding meal and great service.

    This was my wife and I’s 1st wedding anniversary dinner, and it exceeded all of our expectations! Every member of the staff who served us knew and was very kind. The food was perfect from the starter to the dessert. Don’t hesitate to make a reservation here!

    My husband and I went there for our anniversary. They do ask why you are making the reservation but the extra little touches they did to make the night special really set it over the top. Special menu printed, every person that worked there that dropped off something at our table wished us well wishes, a card signed by the whole crew, and a special happy anniversary plate.

    Food and service were top shelf! We were celebrating a special birthday and with the personalized birthday card and the greeting at the top of the menu, we were duly impressed. Very tastefully done! Our waitress was terrific….very attentive and sweet, but did not incessantly interrupt. Wonderful experience from beginning to end! Thank you to all, wait staff, hostess, sommelier and chefs for making a very special evening with family the best celebration! Our guests were so impressed!

    It had been several years since my last experience with this fine dining establishment. Prime rib was being offered this particular weekend, so I made a reservation. I found the $55 price to be steep but acceptable. The meat, however, was not tender as I had expected. My guest enjoyed his lamb entree, although I am confident he left hungry. The portion was not very large. I was rather disappointed by the experience which I had been awaiting with great anticipation.
