"My wife and I have been coming here since we were dating in 2001. I had a good friend visiting from out of town, and thought it would be a great spot to entertain him. We started with a Burrata special, with an onion and olive tapinade that was delicious! We also had a traditional caprese salad. Nice portion, and very good. They make their own pasta, so I had a half portion of their gnocci a la ragu, which is always amazing. For entrees, my wife had the pasta cacciatore, which she said was fantastic. My friend had a pasta with mussels dish, with a light sauce, which he enjoyed very much. I had a special, which was homemade ravioli, filled with potato and short rib, with a mushroom sauce. It was rich, and very satisfying. We wrapped it up with a Belgian chocolate cake and biscotti for sharing. I had two bourbon Sidecars, which were well done. The service was a little off, as they may have been training a few waitresses, but overall, L'Orcio has been one of the top three restaurants in New Haven for more than a decade. It should never be missed, if you are visiting Yale University, or the greater New Haven area. Enjoy!"See more
"We met friends here for brunch and afterwards walked to the Yale University Art Gallery. People only had to park once, so the location was very convenient. The restaurant was lovely and not packed. The server was well informed about items on the menu and answered our questions. He told us what were the most popular dishes, always useful information. Service was a bit slow, but since we wanted to talk leisurely, we didn't mind. We had a table by the window which gave us great sunlight, but at one point the sun got too warm and we had trouble closing the blind. The food was delicious, fresh, beautifully prepared. We had frittata, BLT, salad and soup. Frittata was light and fluffy. We recommend this place."See more
"A sleek yet warm atmosphere combined with unpretentious and friendly service makes this a unique restaurant. The menu is a modern take on Latin favorites. The squid ragu, croquettes and roast pork were outstanding. This is a great place to go for just about any occasion."See more
"Had a great time. The food was very good. From the warm bread to the complimentary chocolate mousse! The seafood pasta, brussels sprouts, seafood chowder and Hudson Valley Duck were standouts. Our waitress, Heidi, was great! Reasonable check, too."See more
"Food was excellent and very unique. We went for a business dinner with 4 people. It was a little warm in there. The mojito's were excellent. Our waitress was very knowledgeable and made some good recommendations for apps and desserts."See more
"John Davenport's is one of our NH favorites, and it didn't disappoint. The food was excellent and the service was friendly and efficient without hovering. We had a pre-theater dinner, and were out with plenty of time.
My salmon and my wife's seafood entree were both done perfectly."See more
"My wife and I came here for a nice but fast dinner with our 9 and 12 year old granddaughters. There was sufficient diversity on the menu to please us all. The service was efficient (fast) and very courteous. several people delivered our food as soon as it was ready. My scallops and my Caesar salad were delicious. Be careful of the fish tacos unless you love spicy, and the veggie burger is just delish. My straight up martini came fast and was just perfect."See more
