Had a wonderful dining experience celebrating a special occasion, only issue was one of the bartenders at the bar was very rude, they ran out of martini glasses and seem to be annoyed. When I asked them for a martini glass he served it to me in a wine glass I made a comment and he said “don’t you want it? “ Of course I had it anyway, but he was rude about it! Been coming to the boathouse for years, I did not appreciate that type of behavior from the bartender, unfortunately I did not get his name , overall, it was a beautiful evening!!! Our waiter Peter was very accommodating!

Ok, so here's the thing, we LOVE Tavern on the Green and always make it a point to visit when we come to New York. This time, it was a disappointment to have a lunch menu rather than a brunch menu at 11am and they removed the avocado toast and shrimp and grits from the menu. Boo. We had to wave down someone to have ice water poured. We waited even longer for a waitress to arrive and once she did, she was extremely unwelcoming which is unusual for the service that we've had during past visits. Our food was a disappointment- salmon sandwiches that were "put in a blender" did not taste like salmon, chicken sandwich had chicken from the night before and very tough to cut- the Coca Cola was flat and when we asked for a new one, our waitress rolled her eyes, begrudgingly brought a new one but did not remove the old. I opted to talk to the manager because I knew she would be disappointed to hear about our experience. She was extremely apologetic and comped our meal. Unfortunately, the family sitting next to us had the same service. I hope that Anastasia (the waitress) was just having an off day and that she can serve customers to the same standards that we've been used to. We will be back (but please put the avocado toast, shrimp and grits and watermelon soup back on the menu)!!

This is my third time here - Unforgettable. The staff are excellent- they clearly love their job and it shows. What a wonderful experience to be in a place that treats their staff like family. Willie is my new best friend - he remembers everything and knows how to make me smile. Atmosphere is so nice, sound does not echo so you don’t hear other people’s conversations. It is an intimate setting, very nice for dates or a family event. For the food - old school Italian with modern accents. I keep ordering the burrata and prosciutto with melon, fig and balsamic reduction(glaze? I forget, I have asked a few times, sorry🤦🏽‍♀️). It’s just so refreshing and perfect to begin my meal with. Next favorite has to be the Cacio e Pepe. It was a fixed menu with few options for each course the first time I went, and I was very hesitant about there being horseradish in it. Willie promised it wouldn’t taste like it, I trusted, and OH BOY was it worth it. It carries the flavor so well, and the texture is just perfect. Noodles are al dente as they should be! Another dish I keep going back to is the branzino. Softest fish I have ever had - perfect texture. Like a pillow almost. I will include photos of it before filet as well - Willie brought it out and showed us. A beautiful fish. The sauce it comes with reminds me of a red wine vinaigrette almost - but it’s kind of like a roux? I am doing a terrible job at explaining this - its unique and delicious. A notable experience from this visit was trying octopus for the first time. The dish is beautiful and it was so good. It came with mozarella and a mashed potato side, with sautéed veggies. I will be back! Thank you Caravaggio for making my week a good one :)

The stand out from last night was our service. From checking in and letting us go to the table as we came in vs making us wait at the bar, etc is so appreciated these days. And the waitstaff at our table took exemplary care of us for hours. We were a party of 6 with lots of drinks, lots of dishes and they were all over us - never needing a thing. They were so attentive and helpful. It was one of the better service experiences I've had in NYC in years. We were so grateful and kept telling our main server how amazing he was. Food was outstanding, as usual. We had meats, seafoods, lots of vegetables and all were heavenly. This was a special experience.

Had a great meal! Made a reservation, was able to be seated early. Stand outs were the Italian wedge salad (ask for it chopped), the filet with cacio e pepe raviolo, and eggplant pull a parm. The interior is just so fun, I would be happy to sit at the bar just to take it in. The nicest was that we had stayed for a while just chatting even after we paid the bill, and Valerie the floor manager came by to let us know that they needed the table but that she wanted to comp drinks and a dessert for us at the bar for the inconvenience. It was so unnecessary (we had been there for 2 hours already) and so generous. We did not take her up on it and gladly left, but she gave us her card for next time. 10/10 service and the vibes are fun, delicious filet too.
