The Spencer ribeye might have been the best steak I’ve ever had! I was in town from Minnesota and I think I will drive the 5 hour drive just for that steak! Melt in your mouth good! We also had the prime beef bolognese and it was delicious!

My wife and I love the 801 chophouse! I am a steak lover and always order medium rare+. 801 did a fabulous job on preparing the meal! We had great drinks as well. The waiter was very attentive and knowledgeable on all the courses of the meal. We will definitely come back! Love this place!

Nice selection with interesting takes on classic **restaurant** dishes, with options for all ages and a nice dessert menu. Great service. A wonderful meal before our show at the Holland.

My husband and I went to J. Gilbert’s for a special birthday celebration. The food was delicious and done to perfection. We both had steaks, which were cooked exactly as we ordered them. The wedge salad was very tasty and would be worth going back for alone. I had the poblano au gratin potatoes which had a nice kick to them. For dessert my husband chose the apple crossanti - he said it was good but he would choose something different next time. The chocolate cake was excellent! Our server was great - attentive but not overpowering. The only downside to our experience was the noise level. We could not even carry on a conversation and in fact we hurried a bit with dinner just to get out of the noise. Although the food and service were wonderful we would rethink going to J. Gilbert’s for a special occasion.

Nice place to relax and enjoy great music, light food, and wonderful cocktails. We especially appreciate a place for "adult people" rather than the college crowd. Will definitely go again.

The bartender was slow to make our drinks. They were both two ingredient drinks that came out after our appetizers. And we overheard that he insulted another couple’s drink order. The glassware was basic. A $13 cocktail in an Art Deco **restaurant** should have pretty coupes to match the period. My mule came in a juice glass. The appetizers were okay. Brussels were tough. Disappointed that the menu online did not match the menu in the **restaurant**. Seasonal changes make sense, but it should be reflected in the online menu. One of the reasons I chose to go to **Monarch** last night was for a dish that was no longer available. Had I known, I might’ve spent my ONLY night out somewhere else. All that said… the entrees tasted great! We both cleared our plates of everything. I will trying to copycat their halibut dish! It was an alright date, but next time I drive across town I’ll probably choose somewhere else. Decent value for a special occasion: 2 apps, 2 entrees, 1 dessert, 6 drinks ~ $200
