" Dry-aged Japanese beef served by「Steak House Pound Shijo Kawaramachi」is maintained thoroughly by caring about temperature, humidity, and wind. And in addition to the American method of dry-aging that brings out the real taste of meat, we combined our unique method to decrease the melting point of beef tallow. “Tankuma” was born on the banks of the Takase River in Kyoto, famous for “Takase Fune” at the beginning of Showa period. Takasegawa-suji is a place where Ikushu restaurants serving seasonal river fish were lined up in the Edo period, but our “Tankuma” has been working hard since then. After the war, we continued to make steady progress with the support of Ryosensen, Junichiro Tanizaki, Isao Yoshii, and other literary artists. The name “Yugyoan” was named after the long-cherished “Rishinyusho”, which has been the best delicacy in China.

The food choices were great, the service not so much. Although our server was polite he was untrained. The service failed to meet the value for the product. But the steak was excellent and my seasoned charred vegetables was too!

Amazing experience with very talented and skilled chef. The food presentation was artistic and the taste and flavor was equally unique. The chef and his assistant were very kind and attentive and used translation app to communicate with us. We found the entire experience to be one we would not have wanted to miss.
