Stephen Starr’s Buddakan is a spectacular restaurant featuring exotic flavors of modern Asian cuisine with creativity and drama. Bon Appetit notes, "The mostly white space is striking, with a lit-from-within communal table in the middle of the room, a waterfall & a ten-foot, candle-bedecked Buddha. The religious icon watches over hip customers indulging in pan-Asian cuisine that far surpasses the fare usually found at hot spots like this." Newsweek reports, "Design also serves as a signifier for cuisine. You walk into Buddakan, one of the hottest new restaurants in Philadelphia, past a shimmering waterfall & Japanese river stones & you say to yourself, 'ginger-miso everything' even before you see the magnificent 10-foot Buddha dominating the dining room." Named one of “America's Top 50 Restaurants" by Travel & Leisure and 'Top Restaurant for Fun' by Gourmet, Buddakan has become one of the country's most talked about restaurants.

We are foodies and this place is an amazing mix of food that feels like home but is just unique and creative enough that I feel like my taste buds are trying something completely new. The short rib rigatoni may be top 3 best pasta dishes I have ever had. Drinks were solid. We enjoyed the lemon crème brûlée for dessert. We can’t wait to go back! Also everyone was super friendly and the service was a 10/10. Absolutely recommend.

Very busy Saturday. Steak tartare was excellent, croque monsieur was delicious and loved the dressing on the little salad. The salmon tartaine was ok - would have liked it on a different bread as it was too crusty to cut through. Service was excellent and love the little bread basket that they give you to start

I loved it. The only down fall was that I reserved for a Birthday & was supposed to get a churro cake/ candle. We did get it, however I ruined the surprise that it was supposed to be & had to ask the waiter for it in front of my friend who the surprise was for. She gave us the check & we did not receive it so I had to say something. Besides that everything was great.

This is a favorite place for us. The pub vibe works well for both family dinners out (older kids) or time with friends. This visit we did afternoon tea for a birthday and it didn't disappoint. Both sweet and savory items were delicious.

Our waiter was very attentive and we were surprised to know that the restaurant actually reads when you check the box for anniversary! It was my boyfriend and mine's 2nd dating anniversary and we were surprised with a glass of champagne and a small sweet treat at the end. He had the scallops which were cooked perfectly with shrimp that was slightly over done. The risotto with his was salty on it's own, but complemented the shellfish nicely. I had the Bronzino which was fileted over a tabbouleh with kale and cauliflower. This dish was outstanding!! To start we had the lamb belly with babba ganoush that was to die for! Would definitely return!
