The key to Indie Cafe’s success is simple cuisine, elegantly prepared. Chef Iggy Waranon's dishes feature a dynamic combination of savory Thai and simple Japanese cuisine, with an emphasis on the original flavor of the fresh ingredients. Fresh and seasonal fish is often touched by cilantro-infused oils, miso dressing, and Asian citrus for pop and personality. Indie Cafe's fun, casual, and modern Asian interior also lends itself to a comfortable and cozy night with friends. Before the rolls arrive, order up a Ginger or Lychee Martini to whet the appetite. Oh—and for an added bonus, they’re mere steps from the beach.Best New Restaurants, Chicago magazine America's Top Japanese Restaurants, 2008 Zagat

Everything we tried was absolutely amazing. I think both the green and red tamales as well as the Tres leches cake were showstoppers above and beyond the other fantastic things we ate. There was also a special of pork ribs in a peanut sauce that can only be described as “I had no idea something could taste like this, Yum Yum” You definitely need a reservation because the place is small. The strawberry guava margarita was wonderful and I had one with mezcal from their hometown and one with tequila. Both were delicious.

We went for dinner on a Wednesday and it was fairly quiet when we arrived at 6:00. The staff was friendly and welcoming. My husband had the wood grilled pork chop special and said it was the best pork chop he ever ate. The wine selection was perfect. Our cousin had the trout which was very good. I had the orecchiette which always is my favorite. The trumpet mushroom appetizer was delicious. This is a special place!
