Le Yaca began in 1964 in Courchevel, a tiny, country village in the French Alps. Daniele Bourderau & Gerard decided it would be fun to open a small restaurant. When friends learned of their plans, they told the hopeful restaurateurs they were crazy to think people would drive eight kilometers on a winding, icy road for dinner. Daniele and Gerard hesitated for three months and then decided, “yaca le faire,” a contraction of the French phrase “il n’y a qu’a le faire,” which basically means, “let’s do it.” They called the restaurant Le Yaca as a gag, but the name caught on with customers who were amused by the pun and contributed to the restaurant’s lore by inventing “yaca-isms” of their own: yaca y aller (let’s go). Daniele came to the United States and opened Le Yaca in Williamsburg. Daniel Abid bought Le Yaca in 2001.     Stephen was wonderful! Very attentive, articulate, and knowledgeable. Our 15 month old son loved him. Food was wonderful! Atmosphere was wonderful! Would definitely recommend to anyone who is interested in history and loved a good meal. The soup was delicious, dinner was second to none, AND the desserts were delicious! It is a must when in town.

    We really enjoyed the new decor - beautiful yet still fits in with the Tides Inn overall architecture and motif - architects and builders did a great job providing a really classy place to eat. Now for the food - very impressive and very good. I had the Wagyu short ribs while my wife had the pork loin - both incredibly tasty and the presentation was very nice also. Lucia was our server and Meagan the sommelier, and all went well. I do caution about the bar where we had drinks waiting for the Christmas parade and our table: not very efficient (even with 2-3 "bartenders"), and they certainly don't know how to make Manhattans - worst I've ever had. Stick with the wine and beer, much harder to mess up.

    We tried two of the lunch specials - Chicken BLT and the Chicken BLT Flatbread as well as the Mushroom Soup. Everything was delicious. Service was quick although the restaurant was quite busy for a Monday lunch! We will definitely be back again.
