Booked 15 times today
Butterjoint is a comfy bar and restaurant located in North Oakland. Our welcoming and eclectic atmosphere is appropriate for almost any occasion - whether it be meeting a friend for a drink, celebrating an important event, or relaxing after work. Our menu is a mixture of familiar Pittsburgh foods (think pierogies, hamburgers, French fries) and French bistro classics (beef tartare, raclette, mussels), and seasonal classics that come and go throughout the year. We put care into our vegetarian dishes too, including making our own tempeh, falafel, and veggie patties from scratch. Menu items change frequently--usually every day--and reflect many long-standing relationships we have with farms and breweries in our region. In addition to reservations, we also have a thirty seat bar that is first come, first serve. We don’t know exactly how old the bar is, but it’s at least seventy years old (probably older) and very cozy. Our friendly bartenders are here to make something you like.

We took a friend to lunch to celebrate her 80th birthday! Our waiter, Nate was really accommodating! We ordered three items from the menu and we’re splitting each of them three ways. We had the tuna tartare, the artichoke dish, and a turkey club sandwich. The kitchen split the sandwich into thirds and put salad on each of our plates. We had a wonderful time and it was a perfect place to go to celebrate. We really appreciated everything. So happy that Casbah is serving lunches again. We missed them.

The two small plate pasta dishes were excellent. The only problem was that three first wines we ordered off the wine list were out of stock. The Maitre d offered an alternative white wine from north central Italy above Tuscany that was good, different, but went well with our meals. Overall we felt well taken care of.

The food, ambiance and service were very good. The tuna tartar starter was excellent, and it was probably the best PhadThai I ever had. I will definitely go back there.

We had a great time - it was a slower Monday night. Our server was fantastic and very helpful with the menu. We had pierogis, sauerkraut balls, lumps, French onion soup, crostini, chocolate cake, cheesecake, and rhubarb pie. The only one we didn’t love was the crostini, but even that was kinda tasty. Definitely recommend

Food was phenomenal on our latest trip! Drinks were great! Service was impeccable! Bad thing is the noise, it’s loud in there. But don’t let that deter you!
