After 40 years, my customers still tell me what a delightful discovery it is to step out of a Boston alley and into the heart of Mexico. That is exactly what I had envisioned when I decorated the coffered door and walls of my restaurant with the bright Talavera tiles from Puebla, Mexico. Casa Romero is located in the midst of glamorous Back Bay at 30 Gloucester and offers the best traditional Mexican food in Boston.

Food did not disappoint. Beautiful presentation, appropriate pacing, original flavors, portions matched price. Had a crudo and a main dish, just right amount to leave pleasantly satiated. Seating tight, place was full, staff friendly. Love that I could get a reservation and add a diner last minute by calling. A nice human answered the phone.

We sat at the bar and enjoyed an amazing array of meals. Jorge was a wealth of knowledge, guiding us through the wine menu and suggesting his favorite dishes for us to try. GM Herrel made us feel welcomed from the minute we arrived.

The waitstaff was knowledgeable and helpful. Each course was delicate and flavorful. I closed my eyes to better appreciate the complexities of flavor. The sake flight was interestingly tasty. We are looking forward to a return visit.
