Instead, you’ll need to text a special code to a number on the wall and a host will open the door and usher you inside. Holding fewer than 60 guests, it’s this old world ambience that sets Coal & Cedar apart from Newcastle’s bar scene.Ethan and Ryan are the team behind the venture. The restaurant is just honestly beautiful, the food is possibly the best I've had at any restaurant in a long time. The service was so friendly and felt welcoming; it was an lovely atmosphere with not only the decor but just the personalities of the staff.

We shared a few small plates as starters and the Brussels Sprouts was a surprising favourite. Mains were fillet and pork sirloin. Cooked as ordered and very juicy, tender and tasty.
