Restaurants near Tensas River National Wildlife Refuge

Wife and I were in town to see if Natchez might be a contender as a place to retire and were looking for the best restaurant in town. We were impressed by the Castle. The menu included some old standards (when was the last time you saw carpaccio on a menu?) and a solid variety of appetizers and salads to go with the solid choices of entrees. The wine list was not full of fluff, and the limited selection of wine by the glass were enough to find a solid choice to match our meal choices. Our server, Asia, was a delight. The bar and kitchen were Saturday-busy but she kept us informed and entertained while we waited for each course. Wr will ask gor her every time we return. The restaurant was set on the grounds of a well preserved plantation home, where we will definitely consider staying in the future, The lighting was brighter than expected but appreciated when we went to read the menus. We declined dessert as much because we were full as our dissatisfaction with the offerings. Odd and unnecessary alterations to such classic desserts as creme brûlée.

Very kind staff. Very good food, specifically the shrimp and grits, but all of their menu is fantastic. There is a fan outside if it’s too warm out so we had that on and it was perfect! Thank you, Anchuca!

Frankie's provides the full dining experience. Great cocktails to accompany your food. Can't say enough about the lamb chops! Best I have ever had!

We’ve stayed at Monmouth and eaten there several times. The lamb lollipop and fried green tomato appetizers were DELICIOUS!!! My husband had the filet and said it was good but not as good for the higher price. I had the redfish and it would have been delicious but it was over cooked and very dry. The service was excellent. We know sometimes things are just off. We will return. It’s a beautiful setting. We celebrated our anniversary there.
