A sherwal is a traditional, multi-layered baggy men’s trousers worn in various areas of the Mediterranean. Centuries old, it is a rare sight nowadays, except in remote villages and at traditional cultural ceremonies and, well, at our restaurant. Why name our restaurant after an archaic pants? Because, somehow, this pair of comfortable pants has found its way into our modern world, with little tweaks here and there taking the form of harem pants or baggy jeans, fusing the old with the new. Service was excellent. The burger patties had was too raw even though I requested well done & the burger & chips were only lukewarm warm, as was the coffee. Portion sizes were value for money. Desserts did not cater for coelliacs or for nut/egg allergies/anaphylaxis. The booth was comfortable with plenty of room for two people each side but inside was warm but very noisy. Experience was better a year ago when I visited this establishment.
