Foghorn Brewery was born of a dream to make craft beer the way it ought to be made—from grain to glass all under one roof.The historic building in King Street had been abandoned for several years when we first set foot inside. In that dusty old warehouse, we saw the potential to create something really special.And so it was that Newcastle’s first modern craft brewery opened its doors in April 2015. The town’s industrial roots have played a big part in shaping the unique character of Foghorn Brewery. Built from the ground up, this art deco era warehouse with exposed roof trusses now houses a custom 1800 litre brewery.

Instead, you’ll need to text a special code to a number on the wall and a host will open the door and usher you inside. Rest assured, it’s worth the effort, having just won Best Regional bar in Australia 2016.Once inside, you’ll discover a moody, eclectic cocktail bar with an urban edge. Exposed brick walls and dark timber are complemented by dim lighting from vintage chandeliers. Holding fewer than 60 guests, it’s this old world ambience that sets Coal & Cedar apart from Newcastle’s bar scene.Ethan and Ryan are the team behind the venture. The restaurant is just honestly beautiful, the food is possibly the best I've had at any restaurant in a long time. The service was so friendly and felt welcoming; it was an lovely atmosphere with not only the decor but just the personalities of the staff.

Such a great experience to eat here. Staff always so helpful, friendly & quick to respond, delicious food options and all presented with so much consideration. If you haven’t been it’s a must!

Venue is beautiful! i did the bottomless brunch with friends and definitely recommend. Food came out fast and was delicious, drinks were lovely and all staff were extremely friendly and accommodating, Definitely coming again.
