The history of McCormick & Schmick's Seafood Restaurants began when Bill McCormick purchased Jake's Famous Crawfish Restaurant located in Portland, Oregon, and brought the more than 100-year-old landmark back to life. When asked the secret of how he revitalized a restaurant on the brink of closing, McCormick says, "I like nothing better than being a good host." Part of the managerial talent McCormick tapped was Doug Schmick, a management trainee. The two formed a partnership in 1974, creating Traditional Concepts, a precursor to today's McCormick & Schmick's Seafood Restaurants. In 1979, they opened the original McCormick & Schmick's Seafood Restaurant in Portland, Oregon. The combination of an open imagination and a respect for tradition are what makes McCormick & Schmick's the classic and successful business that it is today.

There’s really only one place for authentic Chinese and Thai–and that’s Big Bowl. It all begins with the highest quality ingredients–naturally raised chicken and beef, heirloom pork, sustainable seafood and produce grown locally. Because Big Bowl believes that the best food is made from scratch, you can taste big, bold layers of flavors in every dish, from the curries right down to the dipping sauces. Everyone raves about the pad Thai, our spicy dishes that are truly hot, and our create-your-own stir-fry–and for good reason. Every element adds up to big taste and takes our food to another level, be it a fresh squeeze of lime, fragrant herbs or the seared Thai chilies. Big Bowl is so big on authentic flavors that even the ginger ale is made with fresh ginger root–from scratch, of course.

It is mostly busy at night so I would recommend booking in advance otherwise you will have to wait. We had booked and still waited for 10 minutes extra. Food was nice and staff is friendly and nice. I like that they allow you to order smaller portion of the mains. After having bruschetta and drinks we were kind of full to have the main course. So I ordered small size of the main. It is decent to fill after having some drinks and appetizers. I ordered spicy crab spaghetti and it was nice. Lemon, chillies and mint give a zing to the crab. I would definitely recommend going there. Only thing I don’t like is its noisy. So if you like quieter places or want a place you could talk than just eat then you may ask them to sit at the back or go somewhere else. But I think it was worth the experience. Food was good and drinks also tasted good.

Wish you had had some menu items for breakfast rather than just the full brunch buffet. I didn't get my money's worth for the buffet, because I only wanted breakfast food. Please rethink the full menu and add a few breakfast items there too. Otherwise it was great. Thanks!

The patio was so lovely and the food/drinks were both very good. Our waiter on the other-hand had zero interest in our table of 3 people and we were there 3 hours and he never once filled our water glasses and only asked us once if we wanted to order additional drinks.
