Always a pleasure to visit Clonakilla. I thought it was interesting that our sommelier explicitly chose not to give us tasting notes for each wine. I understand not being prescriptivist, but I’m also always looking to learn more about wines and how they’re made, so I’m not sure this novel approach was what I had in mind. Still, the somm was happy to let us guess tasting notes and then fill what we might have missed, which made for a fun challenge. The wines were of course delicious, including some varieties which I hadn’t tried before - notably, the GSM, Bordeaux blend and Pinot Noir. The tastings are very generous - we were able to try virtually all the wines on offer, and the price was written off with the purchase of a bottle. I walked away with a bottle of O’Riada Shiraz, which is a consistent favourite of mine, and excellent value at $45 a bottle. It’s very exciting that Clonakilla are growing their own Cabernet Franc for use in their Bordeaux blend, and I hope one day that they consider dabbling in a single grape Cabernet Franc - we should be so lucky.

It was nice but didn't have the authentic home made dishes. It was disappointing that there were no vegetarian main courses which Greek food is known for. The staff was friendly but perhaps new as they didn't seem overly knowledgeable.

Absolutely fantastic lunch - great food (refined - certainly not pub fare!), excellent service. Will be back again for sure.
