Located in the Corktown neighborhood of Detroit, TAKOI is known for modern Thai cooking accented with Michigan seasonality, a DIY mentality, and a penchant for local food production. As a core pillar of our mission, TAKOI operates HiO Farm which is located just a mile north of the restaurant. During the height of farm season, the restaurant highlights dishes prepared with HiO produce utilizing the techniques and flavors inspired by Thailand and beyond. TAKOI, originally KATOI, began as a food truck in 2014, evolved into an Ann Arbor pop-up, and landed as a proper restaurant at 2520 Michigan Avenue in March of 2016. After being open for 11 months, having a slew of fun, and garnering a handful of awards — including a James Beard 'Best New Restaurant' nomination— KATOI was brought back down to earth when it was subjected to arson in February 2017. The day after the fire, the rebuild began, and we opened as TAKOI exactly six months later in August 2017.

Our menu changes with the seasons, and what we think looks good right now. We start with whatever we harvested from our garden this morning, or with whatever our farmers dropped off today. We're building relationships with the people who grow our food and make our wine - people who care as much about their craft as we do about ours. We take our wine and our food seriously. Everything else?     Excellent Food, great service. We had the charred salad, scallops, NY strip, ribs, and cauliflower. Everything was perfect! I will return for those ribs again, and I want to try the burger; it looked amazing.

    A magnificent meal. We shared several dishes, including the branzino. Flavors and presentations were incredibly delicious and beautiful. Our server was extremely personable and helpful when helping with decisions. The food is beyond the descriptions! All the staff was great. Loved eating outside too.

    I really enjoyed my experience! I enjoyed the tasting menu and drink pairing. As a solo diner, it was a lot of food so come hungry. Also, many of the dishes were spicy so if you are spice averse, I would go with another menu option.

    My wife and I enjoyed a wonderful dinner experience here for our Anniversary. I had the Calamari, Caprese Salad, and Fettuccine Alfredo with chicken everything was excellent! Our waiter Chris did a great job and made the experience very enjoyable! We will definitely be back to this gem.
