Since welcoming its first guests in 1773, The Red Lion Inn has earned a reputation for outstanding food and genuine country hospitality. Dining at The Old Inn on the Green is an extraordinary experience: fine wine, great food, attentive, knowledgeable service and the dining rooms illuminated only by candle light. Currently, we are offering a $85 prix fixe menu with 5-6 choices per course every night we are open.     First the bartender was excellent! She was attentive and quick. Very prompt and pleasant as she knew we were a bit grumpy from our hostess experience. So about that. The hostess was MIA - we waited 10 minutes because no one else could seat us. A wait person tried. We were very hungry. When hostess finally arrived - she was dour, unapologetic and informed us we would have to wait. Fortunately the super competent bartender made up for the rough start. Food was good and well paced.

    We always enjoy our dinners at The Gateways and last night , in spite of a couple of glitches, was no longer exception. Food quality is great, everyone ordered something different and all dishes were excellent. Server was experienced and took care of glitches seamlessly. Kitchen was overwhelmed due to a private party, but all in all went fine. Kudos to Katie and management team, they treat you like a valued guest.
