Great service, great food, did a great job accommodating our toddlers needs.

My meal was hot and delicious ! Spaghetti and meatballs !! Service was wonderful , and the place is nice and bright . They did such a nice job renovating !

Food and service was great. My only issue was battling flies while eating. I know it is hard to control but geez..and one point I asked if we could get a fly swatter as a side.

Down to Earth at Down Home Hannah and Joel are amazing hosts with a passion for providing superb food and drink from nature’s bounty. They welcome you with open arms to their little piece of heaven as you step onto their property in Markdale, ON. We were fortunate to attend their Foraging Feast event which started at the bbq pit with an intro to Nick of North. From there, the learning, the sharing and the tantalization of your taste buds begin! In a 2 hour hike, I learned more about what the woods have to offer for food than I have in a lifetime. On our walk, I was thinking to myself, this is what being a true Canadian is all about. The knowledge base of these 3 extraordinary young people exudes inspiration for what we all should be, all of us, in tune with what nature has to offer, cultivate, appreciate, and be grateful for. As you can tell, they moved me. The food and wine…the reason for living ❤️. Starting with a grilled fiddlehead basted in butter and topped with a spattering of sea salt, to samplings from the earth on our walk, a break for a scrumptious nibble and rhubarb cocktail, then back to the restaurant for an unbelievable 10 course feast of sublime flavours of awesomeness. The wine pairing is an extension of glory by Hannah the sommelier and modest owner. Her knowledge of Ontario wines is impressive and perfectly matched with each offering from the chef and modest owner, Joel. Add in Nick, the forager, chef and guide, a magnificent night will always be remembered! Great service, server was very observant, helpful and friendly. Food was great - had cheese/spinach dip, beet & goat cheese salad and cookie melt. Delicious, large serving sizes and arrived promptly. Suspect could be noisy as was loud with place only half full. Might vary depending on where seated.
