Dining at The Old Inn on the Green is an extraordinary experience: fine wine, great food, attentive, knowledgeable service and the dining rooms illuminated only by candle light. Chef and Owner Peter Platt, along with his team, work to create innovative and memorable meals that are an event unto themselves. Currently, we are offering a $85 prix fixe menu with 5-6 choices per course every night we are open. The hours for dinner are Wednesday through Sunday 5:30 pm to 9:00 pm for both indoors and in an all new screened outdoor room. The wine list is graced with an array of thoughtfully selected estate bottled wines from France, California, Italy and around the world. Market Place Tavern is the latest concept and restaurant for Market Hospitality Group (MHG). The Tavern which overlooks the Litchfield Green, is the oldest public building in town and one of the oldest penal facilities in the state. It was built in 1812 to serve as a jail for British prisoners during the War of 1812. A cell block and a three-story wing with additional cell blocks, which now is part of the restaurant’s bar area, was added in 1846. The jail closed in 1992 and was used as a treatment center for men serving prison sentences. It shut down again in 1993 and reopened in 1994 as a rehabilitation center for women facing incarceration. When that center closed, the state decided to sell it.The restaurant is open for lunch and dinner and features “American Tavern Food” with Craft Beers and Cocktails made with local spirits.     We love dining at the CIA (and we have a 2 hour drive). My second time at American Bounty. The food is always delicious. It's always interesting to find out what our server is planning to do once they leave the CIA. Having all students wait on tables is such an important part of anyone's culinary education. Cudos! I would be so pleased if that level of service was the norm at every restaurant. All of the CIA's restaurants are great! Walk around and enjoy the experience. Visit the book store. It's a special treat that we enjoy.

    we arrived for our early dinner reservation and we’re warmly greeted. We had a very comfortable table, professional waiter, who was very helpful. The food was delicious, though the main courses took quite a long time to come out. That being said, we enjoyed everything and will be back next week!

    This restaurant is perfect!!! The food is prepared and served so well and creatively and is beyond delicious! The service is personal and catering. At first I remarked that this was a definite “special occasion restaurant “ then I stated everyday is a “special occasion” it’s a definite tribute to the restaurant that it was filled to capacity on a Tuesday evening. This restaurant is our new favorite and we can’t wait to return!!
