- MMichaelVIPAtlanta •84 reviews5.0Dined 2 days agoMy Horsemen buddies and I were celebrating my recently received health news and where else would we go? Post-snow traffic was non existent and I got there early but was greeted warmly at the host stand and seated at one of my favorite tables immediately by Kaylee herself. I had requested Amancho as our waiter, if available to do so, and that request was accommodated. The guys filtered in and we ordered a round of wine. Several of us had the Daou Cabernet and it is priced well here. Had a plate of the croissants for the table to get things started. These are light and buttery every time and we were given hot towels after. Steaks were ordered. A couple of Delmonico's, a bone in, and the chop steak, which is a really good dish here I might add. Steaks were all cooked to perfection. A mix of house salads and Caesar salads. As you know their Caesar is among my very favorites and if they ever mess with it I'll come in with a nine iron and break all of the glassware. I will note that the french fry seemed a little different and I think it was an excellent rendition of the fry. Kaylee and her management team are running a great ship here. If you attend the "D" only occasionally you wont' appreciate this, but I am a regular and I admire the way the place is being run and they are being rewarded with increasing levels of business. Lots of familiar faces are in the front of the house and that means they are retaining staff, and I'm sure the level of business means a robust tip pool as well. Amancho was our server and he is an ebullient kid who hustles and represents the restaurant exceedingly well. All to say the food was spot on as was the service. The Horsemen are a good group of men and when we post that we are going to be at a place we can guarantee an uptick of between 12-15% in attendance so we are an economic powerhouse. (OK... that's horse puckey, but it was fun to write ). Great evening at one of my truly favorite spots. Thank you Joey D's!More infoJoey D's Oak RoomPrice: Moderate• American• Dunwoody•4.7

We are trying to do Dry January and they have a short list of cocktails that are fun and tasty. The food was delicious. - SShneciaAtlanta •1 review5.0Dined 4 days agoI had an amazing time at this establishment. The ambiance, food, drinks, and server were amazing. I was really surprised at how much I enjoyed the Mac-n-cheese, collard greens, cornbread, and chicken everything was seasoned well and tasted authentic. I’ve tried soul food at other establishments and was surprised that this was the first restaurant where I truly enjoyed the food!!! Not only was the food great the drinks specifically the frozen peach D”Usse was goodt!!!! They did not skim you on any of the liquor…definitely recommend. I would actually recommend this place to anyone visiting Atlanta. The only improvement needed is with the wait time for food as we waited over and hour for our food, I also ordered catfish and my plate arrived with shrimp as they had ran out of catfish and no one came to inform me. Once our server realized the mistake she immediately corrected the order and substituted the shrimp with chicken. Overall great experience just needs more hands in the kitchen. I had an incredible experience at this restaurant! The ambiance, food, drinks, and service were outstanding. I was especially surprised by how much I enjoyed the mac and cheese, collard greens, cornbread, and chicken—all perfectly seasoned and tasting truly authentic. Having tried soul food at other places, this was the first time I genuinely loved everything I ate. The drinks were just as impressive, particularly the frozen peach D’Usse, which was fantastic! They didn’t hold back on the liquor, either—a big plus. I’d highly recommend this spot to anyone visiting Atlanta. That said, there is room for improvement with the wait time, as we waited over an hour for our food. Additionally, I ordered catfish but received shrimp instead, as they had run out of catfish, and no one informed me. Once our server realized the mistake, she quickly fixed it and substituted the shrimp with chicken. Despite these minor setbacks, it was an overall great experience.
