Sokrates Greek Taverna on Winter Hey Lane in Horwich is a relaxed, friendly restaurant serving dishes from Greece, Cyprus and Eastern Mediterranean. The dining room has a light and easy-going ambience like a typical Greek Taverna. The focal point of the menu is the Greek Meze which is a selection of dishes served to the middle of the table for people to share over an hour or so. It's a great way to eat and experience a variety of flavours. The Meze can be tailored for vegetarians and for special diet restrictions such as gluten or dairy intolerance. On the A'la Carte menu one can find all the popular dishes like Mousaka, Stifado and delicious Souvlaki (skewers) and Lamb Koftas cooked on real charcoal. Home made desserts are very popular with Baklava and the Greek Yoghurt cheesecake. Sokrates Taverna also has an excellent selection of wines and beers from Greece and Cyprus.

Great food, good value with friendly service . We would have stayed longer but closed early on Christmas Eve to get ready for them opening again next day

Every time I go it’s amazing, not once have I been and not enjoyed the food the atmosphere the service. Nick and Christine efficient fabulous nothing is too much trouble. Get the Meze it’s good value for money and everything on it is amazing
