Wonderfully delicious meal. Both the soft shell crab and the halibut were seasoned and cooked to perfection. Our first waitress was very communicative and knowledgeable. Unfortunately she went off duty and her replacement was not as attentive. However there were many more people the restaurant when she took over. We had a wonderful experience for our first time there. Definitely recommend it.

Excellent service and food at this location. We had a 10:30 reservation and had to wait about 20 minutes to get seated. The host brought my hangry 3yo a muffin while we waited. He also sent our graduate home with parting gifts. It was so thoughtful and kind. Service was absolutely fantastic, as was everything we ate/drank. The restaurant is very loud/crowded and not much waiting area, but I am not sure what can be done about that. Regardless, we had great seating for a group of 8 near a window and for a large group, the server did a great job. They really mad our graduation celebration brunch very special.

You honestly can’t go wrong with Old Ebbett Grill - the place reflects its history (dating back to the late 1800s when it was an Inn/Saloon) and has an extensive menu known for their seafood, specifically oysters. Took my daughter (who did not want to go into DC after her graduation from Georgetown, and said this better be the best meal I ever had) - it did not disappoint as she indicated the pasta was one of the best she ever had and left a happy girl saying everything was awesome and thanking me for taking her there.

At first the hostess offered us a table in a far corner next to the door to the outside area and after asking to be moved she put us in what I think was a prime location-not sure why she didn’t put us there to begin with. The wait team and food instantly made me forget my annoyance at the hostess. For the next two hours we had AMAZING service and AMAZING food. Our waitress knew everything about the menu from drinks (cocktails and wine) to food/dessert. We had the perfect amount to feel full and so happy. It is not often these days to have an experience where you can’t wait to give them more tip than the recommended amount. Well done!!

First, the food, which is why we dine out in the first place: The oysters on the half shell followed by the stone crab were both pretty much perfect in every regard, from the succulence, right through to the serving temperature (chilled just the right amount to make the meat nicely balanced between plump and flavorful). Next, the service and hospitality: Fast, flawless, friendly. In fact, when my wife and I showed up, we had my service dog with us, of course, but we had reserved online, so our hosts were not previously aware that Simon would be with us. Still, before I could present his assignment and authorization letter, from my physician, as my SD, we were being led to our booth (yes, booth--one of those big, leather, semi-circular ones) in the tasteful and welcoming lounge, which is really just another dining room that happens to include a bar and bar seating. The food and wine (then, Irish coffees) arrived in a timely manner, presented with smiles, consistently. Finally, the location and your fellow diners: Well, Joe's is kitty-corner to the White House, so expect to see tourists (like us), of course, but you'll also encounter plenty of staff and managers from the WH-adjacent Old Executive Office Building, from young, beautiful, idealists to older, jaded, bureaucrats. Cool place, excellent food and hospitality.
