El Mamakas es una elegante taberna griega con capacidad para 85 comensales situada en Ossington Avenue. Su propietario, Thanos Tripi, sirve auténtica cocina griega elaborada con productos frescos y platillos clásicos de la gastronomía griega con un enfoque contemporáneo. Todos los platillos se elaboran cuidadosamente para recrear los sabores de infancia de Thanos y ofrecer a los comensales una auténtica experiencia griega a través de la comida, la música y el arte. El salón comedor imita la forma de un mercado al aire libre y cuenta con columnas de acero de color blanco con efectos similares al estuco. La taberna Mamakas utiliza principalmente productos frescos del mercado, como tomates, para rendir homenaje a la historia y la memoria de Grecia. La paithakia se elabora con carne comprada a un carnicero de confianza y el pescado del día procede de capturas frescas. Las recetas usadas en la cocina han pasado de generación en generación. When we heard the space was available and the landlord was interested in having us as tenants, it was decided somewhere between the end of bottle one and the middle of bottle two that it would be a French Diner, and as soon as we put 'French' and Diner' together, the menu basically wrote itself. There is a strong connective line between bistro classics and diner standards: comfort food, so it was easy to see how happily beef bourguignon would share menu space with meatloaf and mashed potatoes, or how natural it seemed to have a choice between steak frites and chicken fried steak. It all comes together in a beautifully lit room that calls back to an old school diner from a bistro’s landline, all pushed through a smudgy, deco lens. Our main goal is simple, we just want you to have a nice time.
