Restaurants near Captain Stannard House Bed and Breakfast Country Inn

My first time at Cafe Routier for dinner with longtime friend and I couldn’t have picked a better restaurant for us to catch up and get together. My first reaction walking into the restaurant was “Wow! How could I have not been here before?” The action was great at 6:00pm and the restaurant was just perfect. Our server Andrew was fantastic! His professional and outstanding service was nothing compared to his stellar personality and charisma. We split the seafood risotto appetizer that I could have had for an entree cooked to perfection and the pan seared scallops served over oven roasted sweet potatoes heavenly! Andrew chose a wonderful wine and the Manager Kevin stopped by the table to say “Hello” and chatted with us to ensure we were satisfied with everything. I am a restaurant critic and my standards quite high. I traveled from Canterbury about an hour away and the trip was well worth it. Cafe Routier is Absolutely a Homerun and I would Highly recommend it for dinner if you’re visiting the Westbrook area. Can’t WAIT to go back! -Sue Pecoraro

Absolutely incredible meal start to finish. Inventive takes on old standards, plus some totally new concepts. Sometimes we had no idea exactly what we were eating, since exact descriptions are hard to put on a menu. But every bite turned out to be a beyond-delicious surprise. $79 prix fixe is steep for Old Saybrook, but I'm not sure how they could pull this off for less given ingredients and attention to detail.

This restaurant is an absolute gem! The service is impeccable, with delightful servers, especially Cate, who went above and beyond to make our dining experience truly special. The food is simply outstanding, not just in taste but also in its presentation. The ambiance of the restaurant is warm and inviting, creating a perfect setting for a memorable meal.

What a wonderful experience. We went for my husbands 42nd birthday with another couple for brunch and it was wonderful. Beautiful ambiance, we sat by the fire and had a view of the vineyard. The food was spectacular. The service was outstanding. We will be back.
