Restaurants near Allington Park

Wonderful food and very professional waitstaff. We went on Monday evening and the dining room was barely a quarter-full, yet the noise level was already excessive. The low decorative tin ceiling didn't help in that department. The restaurant's website, big and bold, states that they have a dress code, but there were several guys in the bar and the restaurant with crap t-shirts and several wearing baggy basketball shorts in addition to the t-shirts. I was surpirised to see that, considering the website's statement. It would be great if the policy was enforced, especially at the prices being charged.

We ate on the rooftop and enjoyed the delicious Tomato Panzanella which mixed just the right amount of dressing, lettuce, tomato, croutons, red onions, and grilled peaches. It was tasty. The Margherita wood square was next with a touch of ricotta. The food was delicious and the atmosphere was fun.

We went on a Thursday, which is Ladies night. (Great value) Excellent menu choices, terrific service, and delicious food. I had the sea bass, which didn't disappoint. The eggplant rollatini is my favorite thing on the menu. I actually went to Il Gabbiano twice that week. Ladies night, and also for my daughter's birthday dinner. I really love it!!

This was the best meal we had while we were visiting New Haven. Everything was delicious!

If you are interested in food with different flavors and textures this is a place you should try. Service matched the food our bartender was attentive and friendly. It’s a pleasure to go to a restaurant that offers big city food in a small city.Great job to chef and staff.
