Lovely restaurant. Great food. Staff is amazing. AC inside. Outside charming seating next to a small park. Clean. Comfy seating. Open kitchen, smell the food! Only bad thing for me is the music is too loud. I liked the music but it rattled me, sitting right under a speaker. Many times I have been in the same loud situation I have asked host if it was possible to turn music down but this time I felt it would have been detrimental to my whole experience, so , I let it go.

First, the food, which is why we dine out in the first place: The oysters on the half shell followed by the stone crab were both pretty much perfect in every regard, from the succulence, right through to the serving temperature (chilled just the right amount to make the meat nicely balanced between plump and flavorful). Next, the service and hospitality: Fast, flawless, friendly. In fact, when my wife and I showed up, we had my service dog with us, of course, but we had reserved online, so our hosts were not previously aware that Simon would be with us. Still, before I could present his assignment and authorization letter, from my physician, as my SD, we were being led to our booth (yes, booth--one of those big, leather, semi-circular ones) in the tasteful and welcoming lounge, which is really just another dining room that happens to include a bar and bar seating. The food and wine (then, Irish coffees) arrived in a timely manner, presented with smiles, consistently. Finally, the location and your fellow diners: Well, Joe's is kitty-corner to the White House, so expect to see tourists (like us), of course, but you'll also encounter plenty of staff and managers from the WH-adjacent Old Executive Office Building, from young, beautiful, idealists to older, jaded, bureaucrats. Cool place, excellent food and hospitality.
