Lanai City Bar & Grille
Very busy but quaint place, took some time for service and ordering. Food took some time and when arrived was not correct. I would definitely go back, but it was just a few things that made my decision for this review..
Excellent and efficient service - with a smile. Celebrated Mom’s birthday and the staff couldn’t have been more considerate or helpful.
Entire meal was delicious and clearly prepared with care.
I highly recommend!
Sat at the bar and hand lovely service from Jacob.
We waited over an hour for our entree. When the server brought the stark it was cold. When we sent it back, it was returned still cold! We sent it back and left without an entree.
Back to back 5 star experiences
Had a musician that night; beyond amazing. Local, folksy ukulele vibes were perfect. The venison was the best I’ve ever had at a restaurant. Great craft cocktails, exceptionally friendly staff and patrons. Complete 5/5 star experience.
Hope this place gets back to delicious food.
Went to listen music and enjoy dinner. Asked to be seated outside so we could hear music. Was told we could hear it from where we were seated .... we couldn’t cause they placed stereo music instead . Food was ok ... steak orders was medium rare , came medium well. Disappointed... left before dessert
Although our dinner was rated from poor to fair. I would still recommend but do go with caution. We have dined there several times for both breakfast and dinner, our past experiences were excellent but last Friday night was disappointing. We waited 30 minutes before our order was taken, we had to ask for water and drink refills. Dinner stated to be served after one hour and 20 minutes. Four in our group were served and the last two came 7 minutes later. We didn’t have salt and pepper on our table. No butter on the lobster. The only dish that was served perfect was the roast pork the other five dishes lacked flavor. We spoke to the manager and expressed our disappointment which he gave us his apology and a brief explanation. I will go back but I look for current reviews.
Delicious meal and excellent service. Thank you.....................
Sat at the bar. Jacob is a fine bartender and host. Very attentive and friendly.— and knowledgeable. Food was ono and plentiful
Headed over to Hula Girl for Loco Moco and ended up with avocado toast and Kahula pig Benedict, well worth the change up.
Absolutley amazing. So good the food was perfect. I cant wait to go back. The oysters and clams were really good.
Travis, the manager, is welcoming at talks story to each table. Chef, Chris is amazing we loved everything we had. The staff is great and welcoming. While the bar is nothing special, the recommended cocktails are lovely. We ate here 3 nights in a row!
Very good, we will be back!!!! Service and the food choices and quality were very good..
We really enjoy the food and the people who works there ,the music was great too.
We will be back !
Good food and great service!
The hostess accommodated our large table and the waiter was very nice too! The food was very good...a little bit on the $$$ side, but some of the dishes were worth it!
Would def go back there if I stayed longer on Lanai!
They even saved our baby’s shoe we left there for 2 days :)
Food and service top-notch. Shanelle (sorry for spelling) delivered world class service. Chef Chris delighted us with his wit and of course culinary skills. He makes a knock out Lechon. Highly recommend if you are visiting or live on Lanai.
Terrific evening, live music (John Cruz), fresh local food, friendly service, beautiful night outdoors. What more can one ask for? Mahalo. :)
Dined outside in the enclosed deck area where stage is located with live entertainment. Was my first time outside and I was extremely impressed with the ambiance, noise level capable of pleasant dinner conversation and the outstanding entertainment of John Cruz! The recent renovation of this area created a dining space worthy of fine dining. The overhead heaters that were installed around the perimeter made it even more pleasant coupled with the outside ambiance.
Compliments to the Chef!! Our Christmas Eve Prime Rib Dinner was EXCELLENT. The sides were actually the star of the show for us. A twist on mashed potatoes and vegetable medley. Mahalo for any excellent dinner!
The grill is a unique neighborhood restaurant it has been totally remodeled it’s got a really wonderful chef good staff great drinks service is good and wonderful music on Friday and Saturdays I highly recommend a nice city Grill if you’re here on the night
The band was awesome the food amazing. Great addition to just staying at the Four Seasons
First and foremost, the food was excellent! Service was exceptional. My wife is celiac/gluten intolerant. Our server went way above and beyond to ensure that her meal choices would be gluten free. The grill, located in the Hotel Lanai, where we stayed, is located on a beautiful property adjacent to a fun and friendly small town square. We’ll be back!
This was BY FAR the best place I have eaten in a long time. We are from NY and finding great food away from home is hard to find. Cecilia our waitress was personable and so welcoming. Her recommendations were on point. We had fried oyster, potato gnocchi, filet and arugula salad. For dessert, apple crumb and warm cookie! DELICIOUS. Service and food was close to a Forbes/ AAA rating restaurant. Keep up the good work, thank you for an unforgettable night. we will miss you! Aloha
Best place on Lanai, really super people - Sheri was GREAT
The service was great! Food on the other not so good.
A member in our party uses a cane so we parked in handicap parking in front but then could not find a ramp at the main entrance. After my 93-year-old Mother walked up their steep stairs at the main entrance, the hostess informed us that there was another way in the back. Really?! There were no signs saying that and with handicap parking in front, shouldn't there be a ramp at the main entrance? This is just unacceptable and not ADA Compliant. Their "back" entrance is really a service road with very tight parking. We sat on the outside patio and their heaters were nice. Dinner started with a free bowl of goldfish and shrimp chips. It was like eating a child's snack. Our eggplant hummus appetizer was not any good either. My husband and Mom did enjoy their sweet corn soup. We then had to wait ONE hour for the rest of our meal! This after a long flight from the mainland. Our waitress (Teresa?) did a good job and apologized many times but it really wasn't her fault; the kitchen needs to move things out faster!! My Mom liked her harvest salad but the other main entrees of mahi mahi and a mackerel fish special were totally tasteless and underwhelming. Plus, it is so dark on their patio you can't see the food you are eating. I had to use my cellphone light to avoid the many bones in my mackerel fish. Our dining experience was very disappointing and for what you pay, food should be way better. The entertainment of musician John Cruz was nice. The renovated decor and patio are very nice but unfortunately, can't see coming back on future vacations. We happily paid more the next evening at high-end One Forty restaurant for a much better dining experience with a gorgeous view. That was definitely worth our time and money.
Food was bad. Cocktail was good. Enjoyed the live music!
Excellent restaurant in a town of any size, but it is especially amazing that a restaurant of this caliber is available in a small town of ~3200 people and not part of the Four Seasons property. It is conveniently on site of Hotel Lanai—which, incidentally, just went through a beautiful updating. The night we went they had live music. They do have outdoor seating, but it was not in use the evening we were there due to weather concerns. Strongly recommend.
We celebrated a birthday with dinner at the Lanai City Bar & Grille, very glad we went there!
All 4 of us agreed the food equalled or exceeded the meal we had the previous day at the Four Seasons.
The service was great, we appreciated the friendly and helpful staff, and enjoyed the very pleasant atmosphere.
We will definitely return the next time we visit Lanai!
Went up to celebrate my sister's birthday and memorial of her passing and the staff brought out a cookie with a candle and sang Happy Birthday in her memory. Great food even better staff and a great place!!!
Food and service were delicious. Would love to see a bigger, more diverse wine list with a few more by the glass options. The music Saturday night was a real treat as well.
Delicious! We returned to the Hotel Lanai after 20 years last weekend. We brought my 84 year old mother, our 20 year old daughter, for a weekend on Lanai. We started our dinner with Washington State oysters, fresh and tasting of the ocean. Mom and I had the local venison, lightly seasoned with cloves, cooked medium rare, and placed over Japanese pear slaw. The meat was not gamey, and was extremely tender. Our daughter tried the mahi mahi, and loved her fish. My husband ordered the surf and turf, with Hawaiian lobster tail--both the steak and lobster were flavorful and tender. For dessert, we tried the apple crisp--plenty for four of us after such a great dinner!
Great experience. Friendly staff, excellent food, good choices for vegetarians and wonderful music
a few suggestions: when serving cream with coffee, spoons should be supplied. When serving bread/pastry samples, small plates should be supplied. when serving syrup, again, a small spoon and small plate for underneath should have been supplied, which allowed for messy drips. otherwise, all was terrific.
Just a bit loud when entertained by local musicians but we still love it
The historic hotel and restaurant is beautifully remodeled. The prices are outrageous for the food quality that is presented. The ingredients are good and recipes seem interesting, but the preparation is amateurish. The food is luke warm, and the overall finish is not professional.
The server was very good, but too busy to greet us upon arrival. We stood at the host stand for several minutes, before a cool acknowledgement. We never saw any type of manager; the server was very alone. The food runner was not sure of which guest to place the correct order. We could not get a drink from the bar after 9:00, which was not mentioned to us before we were refused a desert liquor.
The music was professional, but exceedingly loud. We had to yell across the table to talk. It felt more like a nightclub noise level with bar food at fine dining prices. There is absolutely no justification for $85 per person. I’ll happily spend more than that if it is worth it. A meal of this quality is with about 25% of the cost. I do not look forward to returning to this place.
As always our experience was amazing. The service was prompt, friendly, and wonderful. The food was excellent. I would recommend the lanai hotel to anyone. A wonderful evening.
