Lanai City Bar & Grille
I had eaten at Lanai City Grill last year on a couple of occasions and absolutely loved the food and ambiance. They recently underwent a remodel so I had been patiently waiting for the opportunity to go back for a nice meal and see how the remodel turned out. We were seated outside upon request...the ambiance was wonderful and the band we saw during our dinner was great too. However, the food was shockingly disappointing. I ordered the cauliflower appetizer, which was great in concept but the textures and flavors were completely muddled and left us confused as to what we were supposed to be enjoying. I ordered the short rib entree and was completely DISAPPOINTED...the texture of the meat was horrible and it had absolutely no flavor. The sauce was GREAT but the meat had to have been improperly stored and/or cooked. I’m used to short rib falling apart at the touch of a fork and melting in my mouth with utter deliciousness. I had to send the dish back after two bites...also had someone else at our table try it and they had the same response. I then ordered the quarter chicken as a replacement. Once again the sauce was delicious but the meat was a touch dry and flavorless. The person who served us was very pleasant and we enjoyed her; however, she failed to clear plates and glasses from our table during her intermittent visits and so did the manager who stopped by to check on us. The level of service was not quite fitting of what would be expected here. I hate giving bad reviews, it pains me, especially since I had once loved this restaurant. I want so much for Lanai City Grill to succeed because we need this kind of restaurant in this adorable little town. I hope this review will be strongly considered by the chef and owner so they can correct the issues. I know the food can be better prepared and staff be trained to provide top notch service.
Kids menu was great. Loved the venison tenderloin. Wine list limited but some nice alternatives.
Char ribs too hard wasn’t appealing to my pallet..ordered half a rack which we didn’t finish..should have stuck with my first choice.. Steak Frites. Wine is always good! Fries seemed like they were sitting a bit! Much hotter and fresh the last time I ordered it. Other than that it’s our once a week go to dining place to unwind from a hectic day.
Nice brunch experience!!! Love the decor and atmosphere!!! However it would be 10 scores if only the service could be more prompt and efficient. Will come back:)
Haven't been there since they remodeled the place. Despite hearing some bad reviews about the food when they reopened. We decided to give it a go and try it out for ourselves. Glad to say that the food was amazing and we had a great time. Don't get me wrong tho, if you are looking for more of the traditional types of food then I guess you might get mixed up with what you ordered. But if you like trying new things and being open to food that not only taste great but also isn't your run of the mill dishes, then this is the place to try. Guess the only negative about my experience was a few of the server staff decided to talk Filipino behind us which we kinda was in a ear shot away from it. Granted I suppose it was a normal thing... but my fiance started getting a bad vibe after what seems like they were speaking about age and looking at our table.... weird huh... but anyways, great place and our server was awesome!
Nice dinner. Enjoyed the food and the facility. Thanks
Amazing, beautiful place on Lanai. Great food and even better service.
This was our first time here with the new chef Joel, and we loved it! The fried oysters were outstanding as an appetizer with a great mix of flavors. Also the ahi tuna appetizer was equally great with a delicious oil and flavorful wasabi “pop rocks”.
There was also a wonderful seafood pasta special entree and the local venison entree was also tasty. The live music that night was good, but a little too loud.
We are looking forward to returning as there were other items on the menu that looked good.
After exorbitant spending at the Four Seasons hotel for dinner a couple of nights in a row we ventured to Lanai City for a change of pace and a more local experience. We were not disappointed. Great appetizers with fresh local ingredients and our main courses were outstanding. I had fresh catch of the day and my wife had the specialty burger. Menu all looked so good, wish I could have tried everything. Do yourself a favor and eat here unless your into spending 300-400 $ a night for 2 people. I promise you will not be sorry you did.
Delicious Sunday Brunch!
Experience was very satisfying, especially since the noise level was significantly lower allowing for the wonderful music to be better appreciated.
Refer to my previous night’s review.
The new remodel looks good, opens the room up nicely. Menu interesting but somewhat limited. Chef visited table: wry enthusiastic and charismatic. We got there early for a 7pm reservation, though at 8pm the hostess came by to tell us the table was booked for 8pm. She said they were running late but when they showed up we’d need to leave. Can’t imagine you book in one hour limits. All in all good and we’ll give it another try. Really think expanding menu would help.
Price for a meal somewhat pricey but service is outstanding, personnel extremely warm and accommodating. Ambiance is very nice because of the service personnels’ warmth and graciousness, and the good job with the recent renovations, though more may have been needed to provide a reduced noise level.
Lanai city Grill is serving Sunday brunch from 10 to 3 this is a new concept for them and it’s absolutely delightful
We've had several meals at the "new" Lana'i City Grille. This Sunday brunch was by far the best of all. There were four of us, each having different entrees. And we all loved all four plates. The chicken with waffles, the oysters with eggs, the green eggs and ham, and the loco moco were all delicious. Great meal!
The food was spectacular! The combination of flavors in both my main meal and my dessert were amazing! Huge congrats to the chef, who did an outstanding job. The wait staff were extremely attentive and friendly. I had a totally positive experience.
Let me start with, we love Hotel Lanai. This time was not one of our best experiences. We were seated at a booth, which we prefer, but with the new update, our booth was located directly under the 80 inch TV. We were fortunate that the restaurant was not crowded so the TV was not turned on. A new configuration would be nice so no seating is under the TV. I can't imagine eating with the people watching the TV through me. The short rib was good, but there were too many contrasting flavors with the mushrooms, horseradish sauce and yuzu underneath it. Fried oysters were excellent! The Mahi was good but again too much going on underneath. We were able to talk with the server and manager and understand the menu is in the process of being changed. This is a great restaurant. This one episode will not stop us from eating here. Looking forward to the new menu.
We always enjoy the Lanai city Grill Friday and Saturday they have music which is really fun the menu is always good and we enjoyed their bartenders and have great drinks
I love how easy it was to make a reservation online. The musicians that were playing were absolutely amazing. The hand spun ice cream took a while to come out, but we enjoyed the music so much that we were glad to have the extra time to listen. We all thought the shrimp chips and gold fish were an interesting pre meal snack, I think I would’ve preferred the classic bread and butter, but our kids loved it. The food was really good, we were so happy there were raw oysters as a special. We hope you continue to offer that as that is one of our favorite appetizers.
They have an inventive new chef, Joel from Nashville, who blends multiple flavors together for a wonderful dining experience. We had the pork tenderloin and the short ribs. Both were fantastic. The basil lime martini and Coconut bread were also amazing! Newly renovated Hotel Lanai and dining room are worth checking out. Staff super friendly too.
Great neighborhood restaurant good service good food good wine list
I would like to see more healthy options on the menu. More salads and sashimi pl ease.
A new concept for the grill is the church service Sunday brunch so we decided to try it and I must say it was outstanding I recommend it highly
Citrus Mousse desert was fantastic! The Ahi dinner I would give a 3.5/5. Menu disappointingly over-Southwest - need more variety.
We appreciate you however. Thank you for being on the Island.
It was extremely loud and with many drunk people. The food was not very good at all. Our waitress, Theresa was excellent!
Really wanted to like this! Have been coming for 12 years but too many dusts and prawn crackers over the food . Curry scallop pupu with shrimp crackers was weird , ceviche also with shrimp crackers and complimentary shrinp crackers too with goldfish 🙈 Venison was v small portion and cold corn and pear didn’t work for me at all . Burgers were like sloppy Joe’s . Fries good, barley risotto covered in green dust - horrible. So sad it wasn’t good . Music great but way too loud inside. Won’t be back unf
Food was mediocre. Previous menu was much better. The service was very rough. Not what I expected, as the service here used to be wonderful.
The grill just recently reopened with a new lock in a new chef absolutely wonderful for a neighborhood restaurant on a small community Island like Lanai we’ve been there five times and enjoyed every meal we tried
Excellent service and food! The place was energetic and we enjoyed the food and live music! We love the remodeled bathrooms too!

Genuine friendly staff!
A wonderful neighborhood gem! A gathering place for locals and visitors alike! Chef Jimmie creates several specials each night using local ingredients and often fish caught that day! The bar scene is lots of fun and music every friday and saturday night!
Lanai city Grill is a neighborhood favorite very cozy has a great bar great wine list and wonderful food
Excellent food with delicious flavor profiles. There was live music the night we were there. The staff couldn’t have been more accommodating and the chef took the time to come to our table to make sure we were happy with our meals. Don’t miss the bananas foster bread pudding .
