About this restaurant

  • Neighborhood gem
  • Great for fine wines
  • Good for special occasions
A first class Indian dining experience in London's riverside Wapping area, Laksha Bay is unique in its approach to food and ambience. Inspired specifically by the beautifully exotic and little known Lakshadweep archipelago around 200km off the coast of Kerala, Laksha Bay takes the diner on a sun drenched journey to the crystal blue waters of the Laccadive Sea, the white sandy palm fringed beaches of true desert islands alongside vibrant coral reefs. With the relaxed atmosphere of those very islands in mind, Laksha Bay focuses on creating a laid back feel in its modern, unpretentious dining room with not only attractive, fuss-free surroundings but service which combines friendliness and efficiency so you never feel hurried, even on the shortest of lunch breaks. Combining traditional Indian favourites with unusual dishes inspired by Lakshadweep and India's coastal regions, Laksha Bay's menu is a celebration of tradition and innovation alike, its dishes making use of fresh, high quality.

Nice restaurant with excellent menu. One of the best Indian restaurants I've been to in years. I would definitely recommend and it's not expensive. Will be returning in the near future.

Good value, friendly staff, efficient service. Bit of confusion as was asked 3 times by different staff if I had booked a table. Think there were other online bookings so adding to confusion. Despite over ordering as usual we managed to eat everything. The prawn Hara Mirchi was lovely and the Peshwari nan light and fluffy. Good take away service with free delivery locally.

We found that the food was better than the average Indian restaurant, and the price was very good too. A place to visit again!

Portions pretty small and main course meat dishes too sweet and flavourless

Really enjoyed Laksha Bay, excellent food, particularly enjoyed the tandoori mixed starter, friendly service, large restaurant tables not to close together, will definitely return.

Starting off with a drink at the Prospect of Whitby gave my German friend an introduction to a part of London not often visited by people from overseas. I had prebooked the Lashka Bay in preference to those up-market umpteen star pretentious establishments in the West End which in any case seem to serve "fusion" food. My German visitor wanted the real thing and so did I. We were not disappointed. We were met by a friendly ,genuine Indian Cockney who patiently explained the dishes to us (for there were some with which I was not familiar) We were given plenty of time to choose over some fresh, crisp pappaddums and pickles. The food was excellent. Tasty, well presented and served. All in all a very enjoyable meal in nice surroundings with friendly staff. Highly recommended. I will certainly return when next in London. I was born in Limehouse but have lived many years in the Midlands and am fascinated to see how this part of of the East End has developed.

We went here very impromptu, as just coming back from the city and were a little bit too tired to go all the way to brick lane. This restaurant was only minutes from the station so easy to get to. food wise they have the usual Indian dishes, but i went for one of the chef specials. 'Calcutta lamb'. It was really good. Better than some of not most brick lane curry houses. We would definitely go again. It was a bit quiet for a Saturday night, but that was good for us as we got a table by booking 10 mins in advance.

The menu is happily smaller than many Indian restaurants, thus not overwhelming. There are a number of specialties which are well worth trying. The food is excellent. All dishes we ordered were all very different, spicy and not oily or creamy. The ambience is also good, not too quiet, but not too loud. Service is friendly and with good humour.

LAKSHA BAY - WAPPING LANE.In a previous life i worked in Brick Lane and the environs including Wapping Lane. Decided to avoid the 'new' Brick Lane and it's pushy on the pavement staff. Opted for quiet but well decoratecLaksha bay. We had booked for 7pm , but arrived just as they opened at 6pm so ambience a little flat (not their fault). However all staff very attentive and impressed that they allowed us to finish each course before taking next course order. The mixed platter and tandoori lamb chops were superb esp lamb samosa. Mains was a chalenge - Tandoori lamb shank! lovely but little too much on top of the startes. The curry/gravy that it came in was as good as i remember it.Well Done!!
