    Over all a good experience. Colleen did a good job and was very friendly. The table could have been cleared more quickly and there seemed to be staff around to help Colleen do that. It has a great view and the special turkey dinner as it was Thanksgiving was delicious.

    The only option (no menu to order from at this restaurant) was a Mexican buffet that was worse than highschool cafeteria food. Only 5 hot pans of food, a salad bar, 2 soso deserts to choose from and fresh fruit which was the highlight! There was taco meat and tortillas, but very few options to top them with, one being a dried up and disgusting corn salsa. No chopped tomatoes or lettuce even! What a disappointment.

    Went there for our daughters 30th and to watch the Balloons take off over Lake Bellaire. It was wonderful. View was awesome, our server was very attentive and sweet. The food was great for a buffet. It’s was a fun night made so by the atmosphere and staff at the restaurant.

    I regret to share that my experience at the Lakeview Restaurant's $42 prime rib buffet was truly disappointing. The prime rib itself lacked any semblance of flavor, and even the au jus was unable to salvage the dish. Adding to the culinary letdown, the assortment of other meats was unidentifiable due to their lack of labels, leaving patrons to guess what they were consuming. The subpar experience extended beyond the food. Our waitress, Emilee, had a total lack of personality, making the dining experience even less enjoyable. Throughout our hour-long meal, she visited our table merely three times, with one disappearance lasting nearly 15 minutes. When she finally dropped off the check, there was no conversation or any hint of an apology for the shortcomings during our visit. It was clear that she had zero interest in making our experience better. All in all, my visit to the Lake View Restaurant and its prime rib buffet was nothing short of awful. The absence of flavor in the main dish, combined with the confusion surrounding other meats and the indifferent service from Emilee, created an unfortunate and regrettable dining outing. It is my sincere hope that the restaurant takes this feedback constructively to enhance both their cuisine and customer service.

    The prime rib was delicious. The side dishes were pretty good although some were overcooked and mushy (vegetables). The gentlemen serving the prime rib were very nice and accommodating. Our server was nice - just not around much. Overall, we did enjoy the meal.

    Disappointing dinner buffet, especially for the price. Nothing was hot. The prime rib was okay. The beef ribs were overcooked. Surprised there was nothing chocolate offered in the dessert options. Maybe at least offer a chocolate pudding or chocolate cake. The carrot cake was dry and nothing else looked appetizing. Won't go back.

    I’m not sure why this place has mixed reviews, we had a great night here. The food and service was excellent. We came for the prime rib buffet and were not disappointed.

    All yiu can eat Prime Rib Buffet was delish. In addition to the Prime Rib it included a Shrimp Boil with Mussels, Crawfish, Sausage, Potatosand Corn Cob. Alsoa fresh Salad Bar, Onion Soup, Steemed Veggies, Bread Sticks, Breaded Cod, Swordfish, seasoned up Chicken Breasts, Mashed Potatos and Mushroom Gravy. Dessert was Chocolate Blueberry Bread Pudding, Teramsu and Blueberry Parfet. Maybe not a buffet for kida and children but was worth $42 per person.

    This used to be our favorite restaurant at Shanty. A recent interior renovation has ruined that. The dull gray lighting now looks like you’re eating in a utility closet. The cozy ambiance of the fireplace and outdoor views is now lost due to the Kmart special interior lights. The menu has changed for the worse as well. We won’t be back. Pelicans Nest is our new fave and well worth the short drive. Great food, ambiance and staff at Pelican’s Nest.

    There are renovations afoot! The old funky bar has been moved so that people sitting there can enjoy the gorgeous view, the whole space has been upgraded to a contemporary feel (though we miss the big old leather chairs) and the chef has taken the food to a new (and truly fantastic) level with a really wonderful buffet on weekends. We've been coming for years and LOVE the new changes (with the same great service)!

    While the view was amazing (we were lucky enough to sit right against the window), the food and service was just mediocre. We opted to order from the menu (the buffet didn't look great for $47/person). The salmon entree I ordered was $30 and came with just fish and a small serving of a veggie. I have dietary restrictions so they allowed me to sub the veggie for something different which was nice. However, when my SIL ordered the same entree and hers came with a totally different veggie that I could have eaten and was not offered as an option to me. Everything was slow. The server didn't check on us enough and as the night went on everything moved even slower. We ordered dessert and waited way too long for it. I am pretty sure that nothing had to be cooked/baked upon ordering so it should have been a lot quicker. I always say that you can't get view/atmosphere AND good food. It seems to be one or the other which is always disappointing.

    Valentine’s Day dinner with hubby. We sat at the corner table and watched the sunset with a bottle of wine. The buffet was delicious and the view of night tubing was perfect. We were not rushed, even though we felt like we had the best table in your restaurant. We probably spent a hour there. The service was excellent and the manager even came over to help us pick out the wine of our choice. Upon departing, I bumped my wine glass and it broke on the floor. I began to pick up the pieces, but a waitress quickly came over with a dust pan and sent me on my way. This dinner was a memory we will not forget…Thank you!

    Not a typical “restaurant” setting. We walked in and it doesn’t feel like a restaurant considering it sits open in the middle of the main lobby. We viewed the menu online ahead of time and it looked pretty good, but when we arrived we were told there was a limited menu and a buffet. We choose the buffet. Wrong choice - the food was cold, the chicken was pink, and the line for the pasta line and prime rib was ridiculous so we didn’t even bother. I ordered a dirty martini, it was so bad I didn’t finish it.

    I have eaten dinner here at least once or twice / ski season for years. We eat breakfast there more than dinner. Breakfast is usually pretty decent. Dinner is very hit or miss. We had a dinner buffet yesterday that was $45 / person. The atmosphere and the staff were very good. I have had service issues in the past but that was not the case yesterday. The staff was very helpful. The issue was the food. There were not very many selections for a $45 buffet. The prime rib was good but the rest of the food was lacking. There were only 6-7 items max and one of them was terrible. The terrible one being the jambalaya. Something was way off with it. Like spoiled. Our table of 4 didn't finish it and neither did the table behind us. Even kids commented on it. The other items were just ok but absolutely nothing special. The prime rib was good but the cost for what other items were available was too high.

    The menu looked really good, but never got the chance to enjoy it. They were very short staffed, which isn’t an issue but no one ever let us know that before we were sat. Waited a half hour and didn’t even see a server go by and didn’t even put in a drink order. Again… no one even came up to us to let us know the situation we had to learn this from the tables next to us who also had been waiting over an hour for food and drink orders. We ended up leaving and had to try to find somewhere else that was open nearby for food, which was extremely limited with it being New Year’s Day. Had to drive a half hour for takeout cause that was the only other option. Terrible experience.

    Thé buffet for New Years Eve dinner was not up to par for the price. As a chef, I was not impressed with the selections and would have liked to have been offered a food menu as well. The prime rib was ok and so where the glazed carrots. Nothing was listed on the buffet as we had to guess what each food item was. The new renovations are not elegant and there should have been tables available next to the fire place. Tables by the bar were not preferred as that is where the buffet should have been. The lighting could be dimmed as well. The service was not great as we were not offered a second drink and took forever to receive our check. For just clearing plates, the service could have been more efficient. 😳

    Was sat right at arrival. 20, twenty minutes later and no one came to our table. Left went to the shanty, had drink in hand and dinner ordered within minutes. It’s a shame, I’ve been a home owner nearby for 20 years and the service never improves here.

    Took forever for someone from the waitstaff to come to our table. The hostess was also the bartender. I know they were short staffed that evening. Ordered the north woods burger with truffle fries. The burger was delicious. Had to ask the waitress for the fries. By the time they came out everyone at the table was finished eating. A few in our party tried the oriental buffet. Ok but wouldn’t try it again. Lakeview, you always seem to disappoint.

    Made a reservation in advance after seeing menu online and reading about the views from dining room. Instead, seated in a back corner and given a limited menu or buffet option. Manager gave us a weak apology. Drove back to Traverse City very unhappy.
