Nice place, nice view of the WH and nice staff and managers, could not be better. Used to live close by and so I got into the habit of going. Take biscuits anytime. Tx.
Just lovely, perfect service... very rare.
I wish I could give 10 stars instead of 5. Absolutely incredible experience at this restaurant. Everything was absolutely perfect. From the ambiance to the staff. The piano man is legendary. The staff there is second to none. My fiance and I loved this place as much as Donald Trump loves Ivanka. We were taken care of well, served such delicious food. The staff was all in on my proposal and it had me feeling so warm and genuinely cared for. I would highly recommend and will return for every trip i make to DC.
We ordered the Filet Mignon, Mixed Green Salad, True Love Chocolate dessert with bourbon and wine to accompany this dinner.
A special thank you for the genuine kindness and attention to detail given to us on a very special night.
This is a must do restaurant, in the most powerful city in the world
Beautiful atmosphere, very gentle and courteous service, and excellent food
Tuvimos una atención excelente y dedicada
One of the best Sunday brunches in DC. Brunch starts at $95 per person (children under 12 are $35) with champagne, mimosa's, and bloody Mary's included. It's not cheap, but the food is outstanding with one of the best buffets and selection of entree's we've had in DC. The room is beautiful and the staff is very helpful and attentive.
Overpriced. Entrees were ok. Creme brulee was amazing. Asked for a WH view, didn’t get it, despite the place being half empty. We were dressed up; the woman at the next table was in sweat pants.
Service and food were excellent. We only had appetizers. Oysters and lobster salad were over the top. Our server, Anthony, recommended both appetizers and we were very pleased. Ambiance is quiet yet the room has a bit of a buzz. Piano was a nice touch! We will return for a full dinner soon.
The ambiance is incredible but the portion sizes were insanely small. I took my lady out for her birthday and it was impressive, but again I had to stop and eat on the way home and I am by no means a large person. I just think $40 for around 4 ounces of fish is insane. We also waited over 30 minutes for the dessert souffle and the place wasn't even busy. For what we paid for the experience the value was very low. I could have gone to the Hamilton and gotten a great meal for a lot less. Lafayette needs to step it up. Also, $9 for sparkling water. Really?
Needed a special dinner prior to a black-tie event. Lafayette was perfect! It is an elegant formal setting, very quiet, seemingly discreet, yet with views of monuments. The food was very good, not among DC’s elite, and on the lighter side, but a very nice meal. I will repeat.
We had breakfast there, and it was exquisite. From the service to the food to the lovely china, it was perfect. I had the lox and bagel, which was beautifully laid out, and my friends had the oatmeal soufflé and a savory egg frittata. The scones and baked goods are made in house. Can’t say enough good things.
My go-to spot for breakfast in DC. Staff are fabulous and the room and ambiance and views are second to none.
We specifically requested a table away from the kitchen and wait station to celebrate a special birthday. The staff did not reserve a table for us. They tried to seat us in the farthest table in the back, right next to the kitchen and wait station. Unacceptable. So we had to wait. We ended up in the cold adjacent room by ourselves. Odd.
The waiter treated us to a complimentary champagne that was a nice gesture however the rest of dinner experience was less than average.
We ordered the sole, $68 and it was served cold along with cold side dishes. Our sides were brought to the table and sat there while the waiter deboned the fish. The staff should know how to prepare and serve the dinners.
The night was to be a fabulous dining experience and ended up be far far less.
The scallops were delicious, but I thought charging $9.00 for a$1.50 bottle of Pelligrino was a stretch.
Pear salad one of the best dishes I have ever had. Amazing service. Always a wonderful experience
Loverly room. Attentive, sometimes too attentive service. Limited menu options and the pasta dish wasn't to my taste. Partner's scallops were excellent.
I particularly like this restaurant for breakfast and private conversation. Food is great!
Excellent meal. Nice surroundings. Great service.
My wife and I celebrated our 29th Wedding Anniversary at the Lafayette Restaurant and was not disappointed. I read a few reviews, all positive, but stated that it was a little pricey. My thoughts on the matter are I paid for what I got; great food, excellent service, quaint ambiance, live soft piano music for our dining pleasure and a quiet/romantic dinner with my bride....priceless. This was our first dining experience at the Lafayette, but most certainly will not be our last.
Casi no había clientes. Fue la cena de fin de año. Había música de piano. Cantaron las mañanitas x mi cumple, muy amables. La comida muy rica. Bien equilibrada. La carta de vinos bien.
A stunning restaurant with incredible food, service, ambiance, and live piano music while you eat. I had a truly premier and world class brunch experience that you simply cannot miss if you’re in the area. Our server, Geo, really made the dining experience feel exceptional.
Lovely ambiance, food was great, service-perfect!
High class dinning in beautiful settings. Perfect for a special occasion lunch or dinner.
Location, location, location. Oh, and white tablecloths. That's what allows Lafayette to charge the prices they do. It can't be for the food -- bland, unimaginative, pedestrian. Umami is still a foreign concept in this kitchen. And it can't be for the service -- disorganized, borderline rude.
The food and service was outstanding. Really enjoyed the piano which created a wonderful ambiance.
Eli our waiter was excellent providing great service and advice on both food and wine.
We will definitely return.
Having lunch at the Lafayette Restaurant is always a delight. The food is wonderful, the service is impeccable, and the ambience is nelegant. One could not ask for more.
This was a great place to go for our 41st wedding anniversary, but it was a little noisy for the first half of our meal. The table next to us was as boisterous as a bar until the two young couples there cleared out half way through our dinner on a Monday evening. The dinner was delicious, especially the halibut and sea trout, and the service was excellent, except that the waiter inadvertently served each main course to the wrong person. The piano player was excellent, especially for broadway tunes, and the decor of the restaurant and the entrance through the Hay Adams Hotel is very elegant. We also appreciated the free valet parking.
Great place for a business meeting or a quiet conversation.
Great as always. Great service. Discrete, so we could talk. No rush, so we could complete our conversation.
One of the most civilized ways of spending a Sunday in the Capital.
This was my third time at this restaurant and unfortunately service is declining. Food is good, great atmosphere, service is just not what you would expect from this type of hotel.
Hands down this is the best brunch in DC and possibly in America, can't beat the setting, value for price and exceptional service.
Awesome experience celebrating our wedding anniversary. It was so nice we are considering turning it into an annual event.
This was our 30th anniversary dinner, it was a wonderful experience. From start to finish. Service of the personnel was awesome. The food is a must try, just wonderful.
An ultimate experience overall.
Prompt, professional and overall great service! The only thing better was the food!
Extraordinary, exquisite food in a plush setting.
One of our favorite breakfast spots. The staff is incredibly welcoming, attentive and kind. This is a well lit, open dining room, perfect for breakfast. The food is top notch, and the crab cake eggs benedict are over the top great!
This is a classical restaurant right next to the White House. The service is good, the ambience is settled, quiet and nice. The food is really good quality.
