Class combined with the most welcoming staff and excellent food.
Staff was friendly. They simultaneously made us feel both very comfortable and very special! Ambiance was fantastic! Their cocktails were delicious, decadent, and creative. Entrées were very good. Desserts were delicate and beautifully presented
Would definitely come here again for special occasions
As usual, this lovely restaurant in an historic hotel in an exciting part of town offers genuine food, fresh choices, elegant service, and fine wine. Our regular lunch spot for many years. Looking forward to having a diner here one time.
Wonderful! Wanted a quiet get-together in DC and found it right in our hotel!!! Will return for sure!
We had an enjoyable experience at Lafayette for lunch. The servers were extremely nice and very knowledgeable about the menu. The food was fantastic and so were our cappuccinos. Can’t wait to return!
Was a delightful experience. Anthony took great care of us. Had a great dinner while listening to exquisite piano music. Highly recommend.
My experience at The Lafayette was simply lovely! I brought my boyfriend here for his birthday and we both loved it. The service was impeccable from start to finish, and there were so many added bonuses throughout the night. The ambiance was peaceful with some light chatter, with live piano in the background. Definitely consider this restaurant for an anniversary, romantic dinner, or afternoon tea!
Great food, service and ambience with a piano player.
It is expensive! But wonderful for special occasions.
1st class cuisine, service.
Once again, the Lafayette Room exceeded expectations. This has to be one of the most special places in DC to Dine for a special occasion. PERFECT
A quiet oasis of marvelous food and divine service. Lovely food and an elegant experience.
Stepping into the Lafayette Room is like stepping into a luxurious cocoon. The setting is spectacular, the servers attentive but not officious, and the food is both fabulous and reasonably priced. Or, reasonably priced for such a package and in comparison to other "foodie" options in other cities.
Give yourself a treat and visit this gem.
Live piano was a wonderful touch.
Food was good, but nothing out of the ordinary from most American restaurants in DC. We had the crudo (better crudo at Chloe or Nobu), Black Bass, Dover Sole (sauce was too creamy, not as delicate as a classic French restaurant), and Soufflé (this was the highlight!).
Service was not on par for the price point. Server did not understand when I ordered the rosè (wine) off their menu.
Overall, decent meal but there are too many other great DC restaurants.
Side note of observation: none of the other patrons in the restaurant on a Thursday evening were persons of color. Lack of diversity at the restaurant shows the old age of this restaurant. Not representative of DC, which is a very diverse city!
After a not so great start of us declining the Fiji water (we object to shipping water 1/2 way around the world), the rest of the meal was outstanding. In fact, one of the best in a very long time anywhere. Lobster/Celery root soup and lobster salad to start for us were delights. Scallops and steak for the main course were perfect. Desserts were a perfect end to the meal. Service was outstanding and the piano player was a nice accompaniment to the meal. Did not know that requesting a window table was an option and highly recommend that you do ask.
We had a very fun waiter named Giovanny. He really connected with the teenaged girls and provided prompt service as did all members of the staff.
We weren’t super thrilled. The location was nice, but the food was not what we thought it would be. Juan’s service was impeccable, but the food was Meh. I’ve eaten at many nice restaurants and this one isn’t worth it. They were also out of beef Wellington and the server tried to charge us for two bottles of wine. We only had one.
Great service. Very comfortable and upscale atmosphere. Entire staff pleasant from the moment we walked through the door until we left.
We were pleasantly surprised to discover Lafayette during our recent visit to DC. We loved the attentive service, elegant atmosphere with a view overlooking the White House, fabulous meal selections (such as Dover sole finished at table side), and the live piano music. It's perfect for quiet conversation, a business meal, or a romantic evening.
Lafayette will always be our favourite Washington restaurant. The service is special - excellent, yet very friendly. The piano music is soft, but excellent. It's probably one of the best restaurants in DC. The brunch is exceptional. Lunch and dinner are both wonderful. We would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for a special meal.
Best breakfast place in dc
Great place! A must in DC
Ordered the scallops and NY Strip. Scallops excellent NY Strip was dry would not order it again. Everything else was excellent
Great service and food! Our server Juan was professional, prompt, and very accommodating. You get what you paid for here... in both food and services!
This was by far the most amazing experience we've had in any restaurants. Rosa and Juan were simply phenomenal! Thank you both for making our special occasion that much more memorable!
Eli provided amazing service and the food was amazing!
The service was amazing. Our food was beautiful and plant based as we requested. I only wish the menu had vegan and plant based options without needing to make a special request.
I am so happy that I was able to have breakfast in such a beautiful setting. I found the restaurant very elegant and the staff very polished and professional. My scrambled eggs were plated beautifully along with potatoes and the tastiest bacon that I have had in a long time. A sprig of rosemary completed the dish. It was served with biscuits that I totally enjoyed. My sister had the french toast that she raved about. Do yourself a favor and treat yourself to a lovely breakfast!
Special occasion dinner unless you roll comfortably. Wonderful food. Best asparagus in memory. So tender and fresh. The special (Rockfish) was tremendous. Service impeccable. We were underdressed and not a flinch as they took our well traveled jackets. The White House is literally just out the window. Beautiful setting and elegant dining. Every bite great.
Excellent food and service in an envious location. The restaurant continues the feel of the hotel it is located in; understated elegance; fine cuisine and serious service. The menu is limited but diverse with great options for most palates. The wine list also also some very intersting choices from around the world. After a truly excellent meal for two, I was astonished at the reasonableness of the bill. What an exceptional restaurant in all respects! Only made more enjoyable by having to take the elevator to our room afterwards. The Hay Adams are to be congratulated on having a superb restaurant as their "hotel restaurant".
Excellent location, decor, service, food and value.
I’ll be back
It was very delightful!
For the cost lunch was on the high end. However Anniversary cupcake was perfect.
The food was incredible! Everything we ordered was delicious. Pricier than I wanted but service was top notch and food amazing. A special occasion spot.
Thank you so much to everyone at The Hay Adams. My husband and I went for our anniversary brunch and the entire staff totally spoiled us. Emmanuel is amazing! The food was so beautiful and delicious. There is an embarrassment of riches on the buffets. The champagne was perfectly chilled and poured. We look forward to coming back soon.
Charming fine dining restaurant in the Hay Adams Hotel. Patience required, but live piano adds to enjoyment. Good wine list with some value selections. Food was very good, but beef Wellington was medium well rather than medium rare, which we ordered. Overall, we would go again because of the ambiance. Attention to detail would make this near perfect.
We were absolutely delighted with this restaurant.
The service, food and ambience are impeccable!
