Phenomenal food and service
Great restaurant in a historic inn. Fireplaces at both ends of the room on a chilly evening. Food and service is always good. Love to come for a nice relaxing meal.
Wonderful experience at the beautiful Landmark Inn. Birthday dinner was delicious and the service was friendly and attentive. 2 fireplaces in the dining room makes it cozy and romantic. All seats were taken by the time we were halfway through eating. Def need a reservation! We loved the corn fritters, the salad with goat cheese, and he had the Pork Chop and I had shrimp and grits and we both really enjoyed them. More of a special occasion spot since the prices are on the high side. We were happy to see Bold Rock cider on the menu, too. The food item I haven't stopped thinking about were those dinner rolls and cinnamon butter!
Outstanding service, atmosphere and food! Whenever we are in or near Standardsville we always make a point to visit the Lafayette. It is always wonderful and family owned and operated. It’s no wonder why the Inn and Restaurant are consistently award winning. We will definitely be back soon, Mike and Mandy.
The Lafayette Inn is one of our favorite s restaurants in the area. I was disappointed with the food for the first time. The risotto was way to mushy and creamy and milk that curdled in my coffee. The main course had bacon in it, which was not mentioned by the waitress and had to be returned.
Despite this we will return...
One of us had been on a prior trip and the meal and experience was exceptional. This time was disappointing. It was fairly busy for a Saturday night. The waitress always overlooked our table of 2 while the next table of 4 was attended to quickly and thoroughly. One glass of wine was ordered but never served. Waters were not refilled. By the time we got to dessert, we were exhausted from an entire meal of being overlooked that we just paid the check and left. Hope to give them another chance when we are back.
We had brunch for six at the Lafayette in December after a small, intimate wedding, and it was just perfect. Quiet, intimate, and lovely food.
Very solid brunch in an area with few options. Will definitely revisit when in Stanardsville.
Marine Corps Birthday
always delicious, always beautiful and always great service. It is a very special place.
Great food and service in an historic inn located in picturesque town. Nice property with commemorative plaques.
The restaurant is located in a beautiful old house. Extensive menu options for dinner & desert.
We always enjoy our evening at The Lafayette Inn. Good service and lovely ambiance. Each meal is carefully prepared fresh and delicious!
Wonderful experience. A hidden gem. Only learn they are in Stanardsville through Open Table or TripAdvisor...or from a former guest. They are about an hour drive from our home; we were looking for a special venue and we were truly satisfied. Apparently The Lafayette Inn & Restaurant has the right pace of patronage for business. Our dining experience was exactly what we had in mind. Chef and staff delivered a most delicious meal and they were all quite personable as they managed to wedge in a bit of time to converse. We would go again and encourage our neighbors to dine there too. Thank you!
We were looking for a new place to have Sunday brunch and tried the Lafayette Inn in Stanardsville. The setting of this old inn is beautifully landscaped and we enjoyed our walk to the front door and again after our meal, to the car. It was a nice surprise to find such excellent food and we invited friends to join us there for Sunday brunch a few weeks later. Both times we enjoyed our selections--the omelette of the day and the traditional Eggs Benedict. Our friends tried the (crab) cake and eggs. The first time we were there, the omelette had feta cheese and teeny tomatoes that we could only call "raisin tomatoes" because of their size. The meal was artistically arranged on the plate so that the yellow, orange and red tomatoes tumbled out of the omelette. When we were with our friends we all ordered the stone-ground grits instead of the potatoes and they were delicious! You should try them. The only downer is that no matter how many people are in the dining room, it's very noisy. The first time we were there, there were about eight people and it was noisy; the second time, graduation weekend, it was really noisy. The owners should consider adding some noise abatement, such as carpets on the floors.
We had a very enjoyable night at this restaurant. Great service great food outstanding wine list.
We dined by the fireplace which was warm and cozy. I had the Layfayette Shrimp and Grits which was the best I've ever eaten. Service was great.
I love the Lafayette Inn. What a wonderful gem in a quaint city. I haven't stayed overnight, but it's nice that is an option. Excellent wine list and local beer and cider available. Always enjoy our meals there!
We live in the area and had never visited before, so we said what the heck. So glad we did, the staff was excellent, the atmosphere was pleasant and calm, and most importantly the food was great. Great place for mature adult date night.
Very nice choice for our evening: Yummy appetizers in the bruschetta and crab, both superbly done. Overall very broad wine choices, and we noted the beer list is also quite good, although we were zeroed in on wines, to be fair. Main courses were also interesting, we chose the shrimp and grits and a steak selection. Shrimp and grits were wonderful, spicy. Steak was well cooked at medium rare, but the broccoli with it was icy, as if it was overly frozen and then not steamed enough or stored too cold and forgotten. Other than the broccoli, however, we enjoyed the port wine and cheeses for dessert and the wonderful Baileys and Coffee special drink. Service was a bit scattered but overall friendly. Would definitely return! (wish the restaurant had checked us in, however, since we alerted them with our names and said we were with OT....Open Table alerted us we'd missed the reservation, which wasn't true, first time it's ever happened in many years and many restaurants....)
Went for Sunday Brunch. We started out with Bloody Marys and Cranberry with Champagne. Very good. The omelette was huge and came with a lot of sides. The food was good. The atmosphere was exactly as described--an historic Inn. We sat by one of two fireplaces which were not in use because it was very warm that day. The service was excellent.
Everything was delicious and lovely and the service was great but we did find a hair on our plate. We however did not make mention of it to our server.
Excellent as always but particularly nice on New Year's Eve, when other places are a circus.
We've had dinner & breakfast here previously, but this was our first time for brunch. There are lots of options on the ala carte menu and at reasonable prices. My french toast with bacon & potatoes (you choose the sides) were very good. My wife's crab cake with eggs, toast, bacon, et al, was excellent. Service was friendly & efficient. Give it a try.
What a wonderful place to good for any type of occasion. The staff is excellent and very friendly.
The food we had (party of 7) was prepared perfectly (steak, fish, chicken and pasta).
We had an outstanding meal and great service from beginning to end and cannot wait to go back when we are in town again.
We enjoyed the burger menu and the wine list. Diverse wine list with multiple options for Virginia wines.
The inn itself was very nice and charming. The menu selection was great but the food was not good at all. Very expensive for very poor quality food. Very disappointed.
refreshing change from chain restaurants! service was wonderful; food was delicious. not large portions but that is actually preferred; I hate to waste food and we ate everything!
we had a party of 4 girlfriends - it was a most pleasant evening and easy to converse. thank you!
A brunch celebration with friends that was enjoyed by all. Excellent food at a reasonable price in a historic atmosphere. The chef visited with us to explain some of the local foods. Have dined here on several occasions (brunch, lunch and dinner) and have never been disappointed with any aspect of the experience. Have recommended to other friends and family.
The food was average, but I definitely would not call it soul food. The setting is a historic Inn, which my teenager found to be a little creepy at first. If I'm in the area, I would consider returning.
this place is historic and beautiful. the food was good.
Best steak I ever ate in my life. Cooked to perfection with juicy flavor oozing out of each bite. Great service too!
My husband and I were celebrating our 27th wedding anniversary. We arrived a bit early to enjoy happy hour on the upstairs porch. It was a lovely evening to enjoy a glass of wine. My only critique would be that the music was a bit loud making it hard to have a conversation.
The dining room was lovely and quiet. We were treated to a delicious meal and wonderful service. I had the crab cakes which were fabulous. My husband had the surf and turf and raved about the delicious steak. At the end of our meal,we treated ourselves to the mango bread pudding - absolutely delicious!
Thank you for a wonderful evening!
The staff were fabulous and the food wonderful! I plan to return again and will definitley recommend this!!
Fantastic find for our rather large party of 14. The food was incredible and the service was excellent. Helpful and friendly staff made for a great experience.
We had a wonderful lunch here. Loved the historical building and decor. The food was good and there were lots of choices.
Food and service were excellent. Nice ambience also. Recommend for date, special occasion, brunch or group-get-together.
Great place with great people, this is our third time that we've been back.
Great romantic getaway with wonderful food and wine selection.
