Incredible ambiance, food, service and definitely plan to go back and recommend!
It couldn't have been a better night. Quite cozy, delicious food, great staff!
What an enjoyable dining experience! Safely distanced from other diners, we enjoyed a wonderful meal. The service was outstanding! Filet was cooked to perfection! We will return!
We had dinner the Friday after Thanksgiving so not too many people were there. For us, in this environment, that was preferred. Food was fantastic - all three of us had great meals. Even though it was cold, two opted for ice cream after dinner. So rich and creamy!
This is probably the most quaint restaurant and value priced meal I have ever had. There are about 12 tables in an old but not dated dining room. The staff was exceptionally attentive, the food was very very good, and I had a most relaxing meal. The restaurant is part of an inn, parking was easy, and it was easy to get to. Hope to go back sometime!
Dined here to see if we wanted to use it for our son's wedding rehearsal dinner. The food was excellent and the staff was top notch. Only wish they had a quality plant based entree option and thought the portion on the corn fritter appetizer was a little small. Would certainly recommend to anyone in the Charlottesville area and we will be using them for the rehearsal dinner.
We love this place! We are steady customers for Sunday brunch (amazing), and our guests that we bring with us for brunch are equally impressed. We have enjoyed their family meals (take home) for both ourselves and for neighbors. Their hamburgers are out of this world delicious, and we love their dinner selections. The Lafayette Inn is a treasure for dining.
Fabulous experience! Will hopefully be back next time
The very best restaurant in all the land. We always look forward to our return. The food is amazing and so flavorful. The portions are good and the wine list is extensive. The have homemade ice cream as well. It is certainly a treat. A must do for all.
Great food. Staff was effective and attentive. Very helpful staff in giving local attractions recommendations.
Celebrated our 46th anniversary with dinner at the Lafayette Inn. We enjoyed the filet duo, the chicken special, a wedge salad, and a grits appetizer. The grits were done three ways, with pesto, gouda, and a raspberry sauce. The filet was the perfect temperature and fork tender as usual. No matter how hard I try, I can't recreate the herb butter on the filet or the honey butter that is served with the rolls. The servers were friendly and attentive. I just wished we had saved room for dessert!
Food was amazing. We had a beet salad, grilled wedge salad, Seafood Diablo and apple pie. All wonderful. Service was very personable and professional, and prompt!! Highly recommend.
Unimaginative poorly prepared dishes. Chicken was tasteless and over cooked. Husband’s steak was equally as bad. Would never go back.
Lovely Inn!
Food was ok, but not a stand out.
We had a good time and enjoyed the evening
Service was very good!
Nice restaurant for a fancier date night. Very sweet atmosphere.
An exquisite resturaunt with 5 stars . We will return time an time again. Thanks Alan and Kaye for the incredible work you do to take care of your customers. Top notch service thanks Carla.
I went there with a few friends to celebrate a fun trip hiking through VA. We were all impressed with the very attentive service and the food was absolutely delicious. I especially loved the lamb shank... oh it was so good!
It was a beautiful old home with great ambiance and attentive staff
Interesting place (on the Virginia's most haunted list). Portions were substantial and food was good.
The staff was most accommodating, setting up our group of 10 in a separate, smaller dining room - so it was like a private dining room. Carla our server did an amazing job taking care of us.
This place was ok, the food was good, but not organized. This is a Small old Inn, and the staff wasn't quite sure what they were doing. It was not what I wanted for an anniversary dinner, not sure I would go back.
Nice dining experience in an old inn. Excellent selection on dinner menu but quality of meal didn't match what we had read in reviews. It was a special "Cause" night so that may have been a factor. My Atlantic salmon was dry with sticky rice on the side. Nothing special, and my wife's cajun shrimp pasta was seriously over spiced. We both love spicy food but this was over the top. Nonetheless it was for a great cause.
The history of the hotel is nice but the food was mediocre at best. We (3 of us) had the chicken over linguine and it was siting in a pool of water. Not sure if it was supposed to be the sauce or if they just didn't drain the pasta very well. 2 others in our group had the salmon and said they enjoyed it.
We are locals and recently discovered this venue for brunch. Amazing food, venue, and service!
We are at The Lafayette for our 25th anniversary. We chose it because it was really the only nice restaurant around where we were staying, so we didn’t really know what to expect. The food was very good, the service was excellent, and the ambiance was lovely. We would definitely return.
We had not dined at the Lafayette Inn for over a decade and since Jack's closed we thought we would give the Lafayette Inn another try. We made a reservation with open table, when we arrived a man led us to the dining room and said sit anywhere. We waited for several minutes at our black tableclothed flowerless table, before our server greeted us. Our server did the best she could with what she had to work with. We ordered a bottle of Barboursville Chardonnay. While we waited a four-top was seated, we waited for about five minutes before our server returned and we placed our order. We ordered the calamari app, the calamari was cooked fine but the serving was way too big, it was entre sized portion. We ordered the fried green tomatoes which came to the table a few minutes after the calamari, we sent it back and asked we receive it after we finish our calamari, It went back to the kitchen and sat under the heat lamps, the meager portion of mixed greens where wilted and the cheese sauce had a film on it. The fried green tomatoes themselves were obviously store-bought. The fried green tomatoes salad is NOT a salad. It should be listed under appetizers not salads on the menu. I ordered the sea scallops with mushroom/onion risotto, my wife ordered the ravioli with vodka sauce. I was a chef for 20 years and still can't figure out how the scallops were cooked, although they were cooked properly, the risotto was an inedible paste which stuck to my teeth and only a few tiny shreds of mushrooms and onions. My wife's ravioli was a total letdown, it was obviously store-bought frozen ravioli and the vodka sauce was definitely from a JAR. $19 for frozen ravioli and sauce from a JAR? We've lived in Greene county for 18 years and sadly since Jack's closed there is no place other than mexican food to eat in Greene County. We will never return.
I had the diver scallops with risotto and it was the best I’ve ever eaten anywhere and I’ve traveled extensively! Service was prompt, courteous but not obtrusive. You know how a good song gets stuck in your head? For days after eating at Lafayette Inn, I was still thinking about how good the food was! Highly recommend!
Fantatstic meal & excellent service!
Layfette resturaunt in Standardsville Virginia is a must. This is the best resturaunt we have ever dined at. The chef Alan is a master at his craft. The dishes are so flavorful and the portions are good. I really enjoyed the Cajun pasta and the puttanesca pasta special as well as the coffee espresso chocolate chip ice cream and flourless chocolate torte for dessert. We will continue to visit when we are nearby. Wish this resturaunt was closer to our home.
From appetizers to entrees to dessert, it was absolutely fantastic! Best kept secret in Stanardsville VA. Alicia was out wonderful waitress and Allen was our chef. Can’t say enough good things about how wonderful our meal was. Can’t wait to come back!
Excellent experience. The buffet was outstanding! Nice mixture of vegetable dishes, comfort breakfast food, fresh fruits. Biscuits were a huge hit. The entire family would go again.
Truly a wonderful hidden gem, so glad we found this place. Rolls with cinnamon butter, southwest egg rolls, surf and turf, and scallops risotto were all excellent.
This place is a true hidden gem. Food is consistently great. specials are interesting and service is just right
We like the Lafayette, especially for their hamburger selection. The burgers are very good too.
The only problem we had was the Open Table reservation did not work. We arrived with ten folks and no reservation was found. Need to fix that folks.

We've enjoyed dining here many times over the years. They have a nice, large menu, very good service and a beautiful, historic dining room.
I had the special and my husband had the braised short ribs. Both were delicious! The servers were great. The room was nice a cozy with two fireplaces. The owner came out to say hello. It was a perfect dining experience. We will come back!
WE loved the ambiance of the restaurant. Friendly and welcoming. Service was very good. We had the lamb and a steak, both were nicely cooked as ordered and delicious. Will definitely return.
Lafayette Inn was AHMAZING... the crab dip was delicious, my entree was large and super yummy (I had to take some home), the service was stellar, and the overall experience was one I highly recommend and would do again when I'm in the area.
Quaint, delicious, excellent service with a history lesson! Wonderful dinner and experience
Excellent. We have been going there for years and it has always been outstanding.
