About La Masseria RI

La Masseria Restaurant is inspired from ancient fortified farmhouses that in the Puglia Region of Italy are called “Masseria”. Executive Chef/Co-Owner, Pino Coladonato, grew up on a Farm in Puglia. He was forced to eat whatever was available but soon was tired of bean puree and decided to take matters into his own hands, creating new ways to use the same few ingredients. Now, with limitless ingredients to choose from, fava beans, chickpeas and lentils are still a core element in many of his entrees. Interior Designer Libby Langdon has created a warm, inviting dining atmosphere. Rustic and relaxed, with plenty of old world charm. Oversized iron sconces custom made from antique wrought iron gates punctuate the walls, and artful displays of antique farm tools mixed with various authentic Italian photographs all add to the farmhouse appeal. The wine list encompasses all regions of Italy with few of the best American and the rest of the world.

I have wanted to visit the restaurant after hearing many great reviews. I was not disappointed. Having lived in Italy in the past , my standards of Italian food may be a little higher. But the food was great, the calamari was like I used to eat in Naples. Not greasy and overloaded with calories, but the real fritti! I will be back.

My meal was spectacular! The service was excellent! Excellent wine list. Need I say more....it is so special to have an authentic Italian restaurant in the heart of East Greenwich!

Did not honor the reservation on open table. We arrived for dinner and they said kitchen was closed despite having a reservation.

We love LaMasseria. We visit Italy somewhat often, especially Florence, and love the food. Eating here reminds us of being back in Florence. The food is wonderful, and it’s a great ambience. In my top five of places in all of Rhode Island. Oh. And if they have it, order the egg ravioli. Although you can’t go wrong with anything on the menu really

I met with here with family for a pre-Christmas luncheon. I ordered the Venison, which was tender, perfectly cooked and sauced. The pork chop with mushrooms had a generous portion of fungi. The sides of brussels sprouts were just the right level of tender-crisp. The wines were excellent - we had a Malbec and a California Pinot Noir that was very smooth and delicious. The waiter gave me a half glass, as I am a light drinker. I appreciated that accommodation! The two grandkids loved their food (no need for a kids menu here). We'd definitely go again.
Be prepared to find parking uphill at the town lot. It's just a four minute walk.

We've dined here three times, and all three times we left very happy. If our travels take us to southern Rhode Island, Connecticut, or New York City, we make a plan to have dinner here. OpenTable makes that part easy.

It’s the food that makes this place really special. Everything is prepared beautifully and expertly. The service is good, not always great. The atmosphere downstairs is a bit too noisy and rollicking for my taste. Upstairs is quieter and better suited for a special occasion.

Our first trip to the restaurant was wonderful. It was a family gathering and they catered to our every need. The waiter was humorous and patient with the four of us. His recommendations proved to be spot on.

The manager was complaining about us being at our table too long and yelling at his staff constantly. The manager was so rude and inappropriate, we won’t be returning. The food was not worth the price either.

We dine at La Masseria often, the two of us, with family and friends, for a bite or soup to nuts, and it never fails to be superb...the staff, the food, the ambiance are consistent and thus so is our almostly weekly appearance! Don't miss this!

I had not been to La Masseria in a long while and I recently hosted a friends’ get together there. I was happy to find that the food is still outstanding and service is second to none. This is a true gem in Rhode Island that rivals NYC’s best neighborhood Italian restaurants. Not inexpensive, but it delivers excellent value.

Incredible dinner once again at one of my favorite places in Rhode Island. Amazing black ink risotto with squid was a special tonight and it was excellent. I had business associates in from out of town and they all thought the place was amazing and it was (as always). Bravo!

We love LaMasseria in East Greenwich because you can always count on a meal that will be cooked perfectly. The waitstaff are excellent and attentive without being annoying. The LaMasseria in NYC and can only hope it is as good as the one in East Greenwich, RI.

The food was okay, nothing exceptional. The pasta sauce on my chicken was bland. The risoto would have been better with some vegetables.

We were a little disappointed. It was very loud with several big parties and we were a couple celebrating a birthday, so it wasn't the right fit. The food was mediocre. But our server was nice--if overall all the servers were running around like crazy. I think we were just looking for a different kind of dining experience, so it wasn't a good match for us.

Felt rushed -- got a basket of bread on our table within 15 seconds of sitting down. The food was overpriced - $30 for a very simple mahi mahi dish - and very bland.

La Masseria is a local neighborhood gem. The service is great and the place is always buzzing.
The design and condition of the upper level dining area needs a little TLC. The lighting is dark and the corner table's reflect a dismal and uninspiring, dated appearance. What could be viewed as romantic soon turns to lack of attention to detail-which detracts from the culinary wonderful culinary experience. Would like to see little more innovation added to the menu- as a local coming here for years now- the offerings could use a bit more zest !
Will return as a loyal customer because who else makes ravioli that melts in your mouth like a cloud, and meatballs to die for..Change it up a bit..and you will have even more people waiting to get a table on a Saturday night !!

The thing that drew me to LaMasseria was the welcoming atmosphere and friendliness of all the staff. That continues. And the food is great. It's a winning combination.
