Service was horrible. We went to La Fiesta for my 30th birthday and booked a week in advance for 20people. It took forever to get both our drinks and our food served. I ordered enchiladas suizas and it came with rice and beans but the rice was undercooked and the beans tasted like they came right out of the can. Definitely not going back. We had one server for a group of 20.

The food was good but everything else was TERRIBLE!!!!!! We went for my husband'd weekend birthday celebration and did not have a very good time. The food , although good, was overpriced for what you got. The waiter was loud and abusive and hostile-- he got the orders wrong, the drinks wrong and even messed up how I wanted my credit cards charged!!! And when he was asked about any of those things he got aggressive say such things as, "I did't give you those drinks!". "I didn't know that, what am I a mind reader?" He also was't very attentive. Needless to say, I will not go back or recommend this place to ANYONE!!!!!!!!!

Food was good but the Children's menu lacked enthusiasm. My two niece's ended up with a cheese quesidilla and that was it! There was nothing to accompany it...just a cheese toastie!! The adults food was very nice though. Spicy, just the way I like it.

Overall, it wasn't the best. The food was over priced for quality and the beans and rice came out hard and you could tell it had been sitting there for a while. The drinks were cheap so that is one positive. The service was lacking - they did not pay very good attention to us. It was actually our bus boy who helped us the most. Just not a good experience and weak food

Great location in the Gaslamp area, very friendly staff and servers. Our waiter Manny did an excellent job with recommendations on margaritas and menu options for some of our party with very particular taste! Overall an really nice evening and great dining experience!

Made a reservation about 4 hours prior, when we arrived the list the hostess had did not have us on it. Showed her the Open Table confirmation, she was fine with that and we were seated.
Server came within 4 minutes, great. Ordered drinks, and an appetizer of Tortilla soup. Drinks arrived, put in order for 2 fish taco plates.
Soup app arrived within 10 minutes, delicious tortilla soup. Noted the waiter was very friendly.
Waited about 35 minutes, waiter came by to check on drinks, asked if the fish tacos were coming soon.
He checked, did not really know when they would come. Now 40 minutes invested, we waited another 15 minutes and still no fish tacos.
At this point, 55 minutes after seated, we told waiter we needed to leave for concert at Petco.
He brought the bill for drinks and soup, paid and left hungry and disappointed/amused. Not sure how good or how long fish tacos take to prepare, wondered if our order was even placed!

When we got there we were told the restaurant was "rented out" and thus were sat at the one next door. Apparently they must own multiple places. The food and service were awful! My fajitas came and weren't sizzling and the shrimp overcooked. We were never offered drink refills and the server was non existent. They at least took my meal off the bill. What a disappointment

We visited La Fiesta several times in the past, although it's been over a year since the last visit. We found the food quality has gone down, they actually charged $2.50 for chips and salsa which are standard free items at every Mexican restaurant we've ever attended. The food portions were smaller and, quite honestly, not as tasty. Disappointed.

I had the worst experience at La Fiesta! The food was terrible and the service was just as bad. 4 people from my group of 20 ordered chile verde or enchiladas suizas which requires green sauce. After our plates were delivered, we were told that they had no green sauce so they gave us red sauce. They should have told us that when we placed our order! The chicken fajitas I ordered were so salty, I couldn't eat them... and they were recommended by our waiter! We were all very dissapointed! We spent $400 on horrible food! I will never go back!

I ate at La Fiesta twice while in San Diego. The service is excellent in all respects. Both times our server was happy to accommodate special requests for menu substitutions or modifications, and to issue separate checks for members of our party. The ambience was conducive to conversation with colleagues. The margaritas were large and well-made. The food was good, but the portions seemed quite variable. The first night I had the combination plate, which was just the right amount of food. The second night I had the cartnitas, but the portion of meat was so large that I could only eat half of it, at most.

So I was thouroughly disappointed with our overall experience. I chose this -location based on prior reviews, and it appeared to be a nice place for a Valentines dinner. We arrived on time for our reservation and we're seated at a wobbly table in the back corner of the patio without having to wait, but since it was chilly asked right away if we could sit inside and we're denied. We we're given menus right away and after waiting about 20 minutes for a server to come and introduce themselves. I finally had to flag down A bus boy to ask for a server. We were served our drinks which were weak margaritas and asked for a napkin since there we're no service sets laid out and our server never brought them. after about another 30 minutes the food came out hot and well presented. The flavor was decent, definitely under par for a restaurant in the Gaslamp. We finished and the plates were promptly removed but we we never got offered dessert or any after service. After about another 20 minutes I had to flag down our server again to ask for the bill, and then waited for another 10 minutes for him to bring it out.

The food at La Fiesta was decent, but the service was poor. We were seated right away, but waited 15 minutes for someone to come to our table. After that, we were rarely checked on, and felt like we were more of an annoyance than a guest.

Chips and appetizers were great, but the entrees were not seasoned very well and too bland. Soup was good though. The service however was amazing and our waiter actually walked out and helped us get a cab. He didn't leave us until the cab was there to pick us up.

From Hostess, to Waitstaff, to the Manager, I've never been made to feel so important in my entire life! Granted we were an early reservation, but still ... Outstanding service! We stayed for over 2 hours, but we're never hurried along, or given an early bill!
The food is...Mexican food. It was good. I'd recommend the Carnitas, and not the Pork Shank.

Large portions - salads are definitely big enough for two as an appetizer. We had a lobster quesadilla and seafood and rice dish. Both were well prepared and served hot. A small margherita was not small by NYC standards. Also tasty and enjoyable.

Highly recommend sharing a few appetizers as opposed to each ordering dinner. Rhe apps were plentiful and delicious. We shared nachos, queso funding chorizo , tortilla soup, chicken quesadillas, and carnitas (from the dinner menu). All ourstanding and too much food for three people. Well worth the visit. Very reasonable prices. Plus outdoor dining in San Diego is the best.

Our group of four went to this restaurant because we wanted Mexican food in San Diego. It was good food ...more like Tex Mex. I had the shrimp fajita and it was delicious, as I expected. It came with refried beans and sour cream and I was very satisfied with the meal. My friend had the chicken fajita and loved it, and another friend had the salad with grilled shrimp for an extra $7...the dressing was a chipotle creamy dressing that was not that spicy. The friend who ordered something with mole was not thrilled, but I think she did not know what mole was. The ambiance spirited; it was a sports bar type of setting. It must be a popular place because it was filled with happy people. We had wine by the glass with our entrees and considered it a nice dinner.

There were many large parties booked at once, which I understand, but server rarely checked on us, and although we were one of the first parties seated we waited a long time to put out order in. Food was okay, not horrible. Then the server refused to split the check and one person had to pay for the whole dinner.

This was my second time eating at La Fiesta, both times it has been in a group of 6-10 people. The first time it was great, good service, good food, etc. The second time however not as good. The drinks arrived and we ordered a couple of appetizers they came quickly. We ordered our mains and those took 2 hours to get, I am not exaggerating. The restaurant was busy but I think the waitress forgot to put our order in. She was pleasant and nice but she seemed new. The food was tasty and hot when we got it.
I would probably eat there again, everyone has an off night.

Even though there were plenty of reservation times available on Opentable, when we arrived at the restaurant, they informed us that only a few tables outside were available beacause they were having a private party (this would've been helpful to know when booking). After being seated, we waited 20 minutes with no server. Other people at the outside tables said they had been waiting longer. We asked the hostess to find a waiter and once again were told there was a private party. We along with several other tables left without ever being served and they didnt seemed fazed at all.

There are so many great restaurants in the Gaslamp Quarter but this is not one of them.
